(NO SPOILERS) Summary: Run, jump, shoot, fly and explore your way through a massive action-adventure reminiscent of classic 8- and 16-bit games. ------------------------------- What is in the game: A medium-length Mega Man-style game with multiple endings. You wake up in a cave and discover what is going on. It has tough combat and a nice art style and story. ------------------------------- Thoughts: Note: I have played once and gotten the normal ending, and am now going for the good ending. I really enjoyed this; it feels really unique, the combat is fun, the graphics are great, and the music is phenomenal. The story was simple but good; it was fun to keep up with through the levels. Short, simple, and sweet. I recommend it! ------------------------------- Mid PC Optimization: This should run fine on anything. ------------------------------- Time to Beat: ~8 hours for one playthrough. ------------------------------- Price: ☑ Buy it full ☐ Wait for sale ☐ Don't buy it ☐ Free Its fun, and an indie get it full price if you can. ------------------------------- Graphics: ☐ Amazing ☑ Good ☐ Average ☐ Bad ☐ Awful Note: There are 2 graphics options, Old and remastered. I used remastered. With sharp visuals turned on, it looks really good; don't use the smooth stuff the screenshots show it's terrible looking. The art style is nice, and all of the characters look nice. Environments all feel unique, and the enemies look good. This game inspired Undertale's characters visually, and you can really see it when you start playing. ------------------------------- Gameplay: ☐ Very Fun ☑ Fun ☐ Meh ☐ Bad ☐ Awful I believe this is classified as a Metroidvania; idk, I never really play them, but I really enjoyed this. I played on classic difficulty, and it was challenging but fun. Death wasn't infuriating; it felt like I just needed to get better. Well, it was infuriating sometimes because they liked to put cutscenes before bosses, and sometimes it lets you skip them faster, and sometimes it doesn't. All the weapons I have used are fun and feel like they have their own uses. The objectives are straightforwardenough. The platforming feels good once you get used to it. The bosses are really fun to fight! Overall, a really fun game. ------------------------------- Music: ☐ Amazing ☑ Good ☐ Average ☐ Bad ☐ Terrible ☐ None Note: There are 3 options for music, Old, Old Remastered and New I used old remastered for my first playthrough and am using old for my current playthrough. I think both are great, though I'm leaning towards old music a bit more. Old music sounds more like NES music, while remastered music sounds kind of like SNES music. Either way, both are really good and have some bangers. I love the song Mischievous Robot; it's really good. Every song just fits the moment. ------------------------------- Bugs: ☑ None that ive seen ☐ Not impactful ☐ Negatively affects gameplay Don't think I encountered a single one. ------------------------------- Side-Notes: None

Update it to match the Version on switch
Very good classic 2D platformer updated for people who didn't know it existed before they heard about "indie games" around 2014. It has Caves and Stories, so no false advertising here.
Amazing game. One of my all-time favorites. I love the amount of personality despite the apparent simplicity. The characters, music, locations, weapons, and most of all story are all highly memorable.
Love this game so much, the update was a welcome suprise and love the fact that you can use mods....the music in this games does the job so very well in giving me a punch in the feels of the old 16 bit era, great giana sisters , bionic commandos and aye mario etc...thanks for doing the update, shows continuing love by a dev for their game
After the new update, this version is amazing def worth it (if you have any further questions, just comment them)
"So long as you always maintain a sense of exploration, you will someday find the way out. This is my hope." I have played this game on the Wii, 3Ds, Switch, and PC. Today, for the first time in years, I went back and 100% completed the game. Every achievement, every challenge, every ending. Cave Story is THE indie-game. I would not be the same person I am today without this game, playing it at the ripe age of 8 years old. This game has remained locked in a special part of my heart for over a decade. Thank you, Pixel.
Вот оно, детство.... Та игра, что познакомила меня с метроидваниями. Та игра, что заставила полюбить инди-игры. Тупа легенда с простым и интересным геймплеем и сюжетом, проходил сотни раз.
