A wildlife simulation game about wolf ecology.
When the game begins, you are a two-year-old gray wolf born in the Northern Range of Yellowstone National Park. You learned the ways of the wolf in your birth pack. Now it's time for you to learn how to live on your own.Your quest begins on the slopes of Amethyst Mountain and eventually takes you across the Lamar Valley to Slough Creek. There, you and your mate will establish a territory and raise a litter of pups: training them, feeding them, defending them against predators, and finally taking them on a cross-country journey to a summer home. Ultimately, your success will depend on your ability to ensure the survival of your pack.

im so wolf pilled.... awoooooo
this game was absolutely phenomenal when it came out, and still is ! a wonderful educational game that wolf girls like me got to play growing up. unfortunately, the game isnt supported by modern technology and as much as the devs have tried to salvage features, they cant. they removed multiplayer support which is a devastating blow (although i dont blame them, servers are expensive), you cant migrate old accounts to new devices, you cannot create new accounts due to the age verification program's removal messing up that system, and steam achievements dont work unless you have an account which in tandem with the last point means unless you have the same account on the same device, steam achievements do not work at all. ultimately as charming and nostalgic as this game is, its borderline unplayable these days. play anniversary addition, its a gazillion times better. classic is fun to play for a half an hour just to check it out and for nostalgia but ultimately its time to say goodbye. it had its moment to shine, and now anniversary edition will succeed it.
I adore wolfquest, it's a huge childhood staple for me. I got classic with the anniversary edition so naturally excited to play both. but classic, a majority of the controls don't work. troubleshooting and all, half the mechanics of the game aren't available to me. scent view? nah man. so its kind of a waste imo.
Hey guys, this game is like...sorta....glitchy.....and I would recommend wolfquest anniversary edition, but if you dont wanna spend 30 dollars on that game, play this game! but you have to PAY for pups, so thats why you should only play this if you dont wanna buy the 30 dollar game. Soooooo, thats why i gave this a thumbs down. I really wish they would have a thumbs in the middle.
I used to be obsessed with the online portion of this game. I'd come home everyday and login to play with people. I gotta say, its remained largely the same and I love that. Its a fantastic realistic simulator for the harshness of life every wolf faces in the wild, developed by people who worked alongside scientists who have expansive knowledge of these animals and their environment, which is hard to come by these days. I've never seen a group of people not only passionate about the game they've developed but also about the wolves its meant to teach about. Loading up wolfquest is like an escape for me now, an escape to a time where I didn't have many problems or responsibilities. Its a game that shows me theres still love in the world, for not only game development but also animal conservation. It is a very loving and creative solution to get people more informed and engaged with these animals. A lot of people think wolves are out to get people, they've suffered from long term over-hunting and habitat loss. Cattle workers often are at odds with these animals, which is disheartening when the wolves came first. This game really shows how wolves are not out for you, they just want to live their lives hunting and raising their young; just like most animals do. Its a proper acknowledgement of the circle of life and how important these animals are to the environment, without them the populations of deer, elk, and other animals would be out of control and disrupt the fragile ecosystem they live in. I can honestly say this game is what gave me my undying love for these beautiful animals and a strong desire to fight for their conservation and reintroduction to the wild. Wolfquest- Know that I will never forget the love you taught me for the environment and all the animals that live within. Know that for the longest time, because of your game, all I've wanted was to see these beautiful animals. To protect them from whats being taken from them, to work alongside them in the ongoing effort to bring them back home. It was always my dream; but that dream only started the day I opened this game, in 2013 when I was just 13 years old. You're the reason I have a strong compassion for conservation efforts. Thank you for being here, I will always love you. ♡
