Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 2 → 0.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Forged by battle,
Perfected by alchemy,
First of his kind,
Last line of our defence,
Bellator di Alchemia.
Castle of Alchemists is an action-RPG and tower defence hybrid where you take on the role of Bellator, an alchemically enhanced super soldier and fight against relentless hordes of enemies from other worlds.
Craft items with randomised abilities that only a super soldier can wield, lay down deadly traps and build towers, mutate and advance to your perfection.
Crush hordes of enemies as you reclaim the castle from the invaders piece by piece. If they come by the thousands, by the thousands they shall fall.

Battle and defeat thousands of invaders from different factions with unique abilities, from a selection of more than 2 dozens of enemies.
Craft an arsenal of weapons and items with randomised properties.
Mutate and hone your skills through detailed skill trees.
Number of traps and towers, each with a range of variants.
Apply more than 10 conditions to enemies—slow them, stun them, burn them, freeze them, and more.
Utilise synergies to quickly dispatch enemies: put metal traps struck by electric, set ablaze oils, or electrify acid puddles to spread explosive poisonous gases.
Advance through levels set in diverse locations; the mines beneath the castle, the bustling forges of engineering, and silent lecture halls devoid of alchemists.
Face bosses in special arenas, never-ending hordes in endless levels, or the challenges in increased difficulty mode for greater rewards.

Has the trap part of Orcs must Die! but unlike games like Dungeon Warfare or Rats, Bats & Bones (which are both excellent) this one has pretty weak traps and the focus is far more centered around the combat, which is just not my cup of tea. I would possibly enjoy this if the traps did 80% of the work and the characters impact on the field was more minimal. The game also has a crafting system which I didn't much care about as well.
It has the scaffolding of a good game, but the gamefeel isn't there. Weapon swapping should take precedent over attacks as an input, but in this game they don't. If you want to swap between melee and ranged, you need to stop attacking, be sure animations have ended, and then press the switch button. The same is true for activated traps and specials, which leaves gameplay feeling like you're fighting controls more than the enemies. Also tower defense usually means the yknow towers should do most of the work.

Usually you can always feel that "hook" with tower defense games, but this game just doesn't deliver enough on that front. I also think that it tries to be too in-depth with all those various items you can craft/equip and various trap types, while at the same time the balance of everything is not that great. Many kinda useless items, traps and such. Also, the performance is very choppy. There is no smoothness, no matter how high your frames are. Didn't have fun with this one.
I want to like this game, but I just can't. Part of it is that controls feel a little clunky, but more of it is that the game feels obtuse and confusing. There is a tutorial, but it isn't always easy to understand how it works in practice. That's fairly normal for tutorials, but should be made easier by the UI and the UI... just doesn't do that job. This is most dramatic on the Mutate menu. You have mutations that you can get to make your character better, but... how? What's the limit? What's the currency? There's one little blurry thing that pops up when you mouse over the undo button, and that's about it. The tutorials feel like the game wants you to learn how things work, but the UI feels like it's actively hostile to that learning. Games can be complicated and they can be hard, but you shouldn't feel like you're having to fight the game to understand how it works.
Castle of Alchemists had an interesting idea, mixing tower defense with action RPG elements, but unfortunately the execution didn’t work for me. The controls are one of my biggest problems. You have to stop shooting before you can use an item, which feels awkward and makes combat more frustrating than it needs to be. The melee weapons are also mostly useless, so there isn’t much reason to use them. The game is quite difficult early on as well, and you’ll probably need to do some grinding before you can progress comfortably. The tutorial is another weak point. It doesn’t explain the mechanics very well, so I often had to figure things out myself. The UI design also feels poorly thought out. There’s even a compare button that doesn’t work, yet the developers apparently left it in the UI instead of removing it. There are quite a few systems here, and I can see the potential, but the rough controls, weak tutorial, awkward UI, useless melee weapons, and early-game difficulty made the experience more frustrating than fun for me. Definitely not one I’d recommend.
Solid, and with a great sense of style. A soft recommend, as this isn't a true tower defense: Your character is wildly overpowered if built correctly, and doubly so if you can manage the finicky hit boxes. Sadly, the game is so stingy on resources to build towers and traps, your fantasy super soldier has to do most of the heavy lifting. It's a shame, too, since a lot of the trap combos seems fun -- you're just barely able to use them. This would be a strong recommend if they gave you mutator options to radically increase resource accumulation.
