Castle In The Darkness is a fun and challenging shout out to the early days of video games! It's an action exploration platformer with some RPG elements, much like games from the Castlevania or Metroid series. It's super fast-paced, challenging, and full of secrets!

Ok, this game is...interesting. It's mostly kinda boring. Honetsly it nails that weird, dreamlike retro feel that many other "retro inspired" games lack. It's the "hard alcohol" of retro platformers: instead of the pitch being "it's the games you played as a kid, but the unnecessary friction removed!" Matt Kap instead leans into the friction for better or worse. The result is a game that is simple and drab enough to maybe actually be a lost NES cartridge. All that said, it has actually pretty fun bosses and the secrets can be fun to find. I say "can" because there are a mix of just-off-screen secrets and legitimately cryptic stuff, but I'd say at least the majority of them are doable without a guide. Overall, this one is fine.
Great game albeit hard, many Bosses and many Memories.
not as hard as i was expecting outside of 1 area but regardless the game's really neat and charming, definitely worth a play if you like games like Cave Story. good art and music too. true ending final boss is a snoozefest though but that's kinda the only bad thing besides the presence of a few loose ends that you always expect to go somewhere the entire game and then just don't lol
God-tier 8-bit chiptune music. But, I only recommend if you like nintendo-hard platforming, difficulty and squirrelly controls. The world map is poorly laid out, warps poorly spaced, very unbalanced difficulty. I went through the entire game and was only at 49% completion, because I had missed so many side-areas and stuff. The sequel to this, Astalon, is a very well-designed metroidvania that is an improvement in almost every way (the music is better in this game though).
Very fun challenging indie metroidvania! You control a soldier/knight that can attack pretty fast and you fight enemies and bosses that are fairly easy to figure out. There's also some pretty tight platforming involved as you make your way to the end of the game, collecting weapons and armor along the way. 9/10 Game.
Fun. Challenging. And a love letter to classic NES games.
If you liked Super Metroid on SNES, you'll like this game. While it can be hard as nails with some jumps or bosses, none of it is impossible, and you can feel yourself get better each attempt. The same thing that you struggled with one hour in will be breezed through as you're hunting for yet more secrets.
고전 그래픽 플랫포머 게임 잘만들었다 근데 무슨 버그가 걸려서 100프로를 못 채우게 되었는데... 다시 깨도 계속 버그가 걸려서 슬프다...
