WARNING! Played this game when it was still in beta, and it kept me hooked for 3 consecutive days. I even had a repetitive movement strain on my right arm because I couldn't stop playing. If you are looking for something to get hooked on and forget about everything else, then you found it. Just don't tell me I didn't warn you!
Hilarious story and characters, enthralling musics, smooth controls, and a simple yet enjoyable concept. Definetly a more casual oriented game, but could easily appeal to seasoned gamers.
I've always been a fan of real time strategy games, and this one is no exception, it's simple, straight to the point and a whole lot of fun, the graphics are colorful and vibrant, the gameplay itself is fantastic, backed up with a great amount of levels.
As a long time RTS fan, Castle Battles hits the spot with simplistic but satisfying gameplay. I liked the effort put into the storyline as well(with the exception of the last campaign). Anyone else stuck on the last level?
Castle Battles is a pretty straight forward strategy game released in Dec, 2016 with a quirky and funny artstyle. (Mustaches!) The writing is pretty clever and funny at times, at other times it's somewhat cringe worthy, but that's part of it's charm. So let's break this down: Options menu is sparse as this is a Unity game, most of the options are in the launcher rather than in game. The options menu consists of seperate volume sliders, one each for sound, music and dialog. The ability to turn on and off edge scroll. Turning off the screen effects. Changing the troop select from a cirle to a square. This option strikes me as odd, as most of the time you just press the spacebar to select all your troops and zerg rush a castle, then select them all again and repeat. And then there is the last option, which is a level skip, that's clearly marked as a cheat. That's it for the options. A mark against it is the unskipable intro clips and if you press ESC like many of us gamers are quick to do, you'll end up closing the game.(Please fix this.) The art style I feel is going to be divisive as it's simple yet detailed and those Mustaches! Back to the writing, it had me genuinely laughing during the level "Briefings" if you want to call them that. It helps that the voice work is really well done for an indie game. The music is quite catchy and fits the theme. There are 4 campaigns, each for a different faction each with 10 levels and their own story. The game has a great feature in the fact you can speed it up, as at the normal speed it feels quite slow once you figure out what you're doing. Which to be honest is quite simple, build castles to expand territory, place castles next to resource nodes, which are gold and stone, gold buys troops, stone is for castles. The game has a few different variations on it's theme, as you clear levels you unlock the extra modes, most of these revolve around speeding the game up and giving the AI more advantages. There is also a quickplay mode that opens up after you complete the "Tutorial" levels, which brings the replay value up slightly. There are 14 achievements for this game, beating all the campaigns, starting all the campaigns, and beating each campaign on Extreme Speed Mode. There are two that don't have a clear way to get them, more research and play will have to done to unlock them. The UI I feel is a bit of a mess, and could use some improvement. When you're using edge scroll you'll end up scrolling the screen adusting the speed or clicking the build castle button. Having the resources and troop numbers on opposite sides of the screen seperates the info a little much, but it works as it keeps the UI rather balanced, the upper right hand corner has nothing in it so it throws it off a little. Overall this is fun little game to just pick up and play, each level seems to last about 5-10 minutes. The replayability is there if you're going for achievements. The clever writing carries the game's simple mechanics and my main issue with the game is the default speed and even 2x feels too slow for the way the game is designed to be played, 4x feels like it should be the normal speed with 8x being the faster settling. The color pallete with it's neon everything reminds me Far Cry: Blood Dragon, a throw back to more simple time when graphics were basic, but they remain modern in the details. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACbGtEhaWnc TLDR; Pros: +Pick up and play. +Clever Writing. +Controls are simple and work. +Great Music. +Great Voice Acting. +Trading Cards! Neutral: =The Artstyle is pretty much a love it or hate it. =Levels are short but that's also the appeal. =Not everyone is going to like the humor. =The Voice Acting is equal parts Ham & Cheese. Cons: -Once you've got the basics of game down, can get repetitive. -Feels like a mobile port, but was released on PC first. -Pressing ESC during the opening intros will close the game.
This game is really fun and alot of people I show this game to think the same. The gameplay is nice and retro and the misic is awsome even though the game it self is not hard if that is what you are looking for. The story if funney to hear and even better to play in.
A nice concept borrowed from Galcon Fusion and Mushroom Wars after that. It has an appealing art-style and intriguing game-play design but like both those aforementioned titles suffers from balance issues (after the initial promise) and is ruined when it becomes impossible to progress. Control Craft 2 is the only game of this type where i did not encounter such balance issues. So that's that.
simple cute game. I played but.. I try to watch this game through my old-style 3D glasses , ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, the graphic effects is awsome! and now I'm blind.
best game 10/10 would play again clearly.
Хорошая стратегия, но фон из карточек я так и не получил
