About
VILE is back on the scene, and for once, ACME and Carmen Sandiego have a common enemy. In a rare and temporary alliance, the world’s greatest thief must track down the syndicate before they can pull off their next big heist. Rookie gumshoes and seasoned detectives are invited to put their sleuthing skills to the test whether it’s in the narrative driven main campaign or the classic mode ‘The Acme Files’.
Carmen Sandiego, the elusive master thief, has temporarily aligned herself with ACME. Her intimate knowledge of VILE’s operations and her unparalleled skills in espionage make her an invaluable, albeit risky, ally.
From the bustling streets of Rio de Janeiro to the majestic landmarks of Tokyo, embark on a whirlwind tour of the world's most iconic destinations. With stunning visuals and immersive environments, every location comes to life, inviting you to explore, discover, and unravel the secrets that lie within.
A great thief is only as good as her tools. Glide across rooftops, grapple between buildings, and switch between night vision, UV, and thermal to track suspects and find hidden clues.
Use quick thinking and detective skills to decode messages, crack safes, and outwit VILE operatives before they disappear. Every choice impacts your mission, so act fast!
Use clues, interviews, and the ACME CrimeNet Database to profile and identify VILE operatives. But remember, a warrant is essential before making any arrests! Will you crack the case and bring VILE to justice, or will they evade capture?

I've played the originals "Where in the world?" games, watched the 1990s TV series, and watched the Netflix remakes. This game seems to be a combination of the original games' style, but fit more with the modern Netflix remake. This game is aimed at kids, not to be difficult puzzles for adults to recreate their nostalgia on. In keeping with the modern Netflix-style design, I really wish they would have kept the excellent voice acting of Gina Rodriguez, Finn Wolfhard, and Dawnn Lewis. While the voices seem maybe close enough, they are still pretty off. I also wish they would have kept Chase Devineaux (Rafael Petardi) and Julia Argent (Charlet Chung) as ACME agents.
It is a reminder of the classic Carmen Sandiego, with a major improvement in visual interface and story. A must-have and must-play game indeed.
It has the feel of the old Carmen Sandiego game, of course. But its too slow paced, too much loading screens and the puzzles aren't exactly hard. Good animations and graphics really are not everything for making good games. But, it delivers what it promises. I would suggest buy it on a sale. 6/10.
Yeah, this ain't it, chief.
I love when you narrow down the thief and travel to different places.
I bought this and only played it for about an hour. I absolutely loved it. Unfortunately I couldn't keep it with the DLC because something IRL happened and I had to ask for a refund. Once I get the money again to afford it again I will buy it. It is worth the price the very two episodes were amazing. It takes me back to the early 90s watching the show and they improved it. 10/10 recommend
Carmen Sandiego marks a modern revival of one of gaming’s most recognizable icons, and Gameloft approaches the project with a clear desire to blend nostalgia with contemporary accessibility. Rather than radically transforming the formula, the game refines and updates the classic globe-trotting mystery structure for new audiences. You step directly into the role of Carmen herself—a shift in perspective from earlier entries that adds a sense of agency and flair as you outmaneuver the ever-troublesome agents of V.I.L.E. The tone remains faithful to the franchise’s roots: light, playful, educational, and internationally minded. Yet it also carries cinematic presentation, clean 3D visuals, and a polished interface that immediately signal its updated sensibilities. The core gameplay revolves around a tight loop of investigation, clue-chasing, and location hopping. Each mission sends you to multiple cities, where you gather intelligence, interrogate suspects, and use Carmen’s signature gadgets to uncover the whereabouts of a target. The structure is straightforward, and this clarity is part of its charm. It evokes the rhythm of the old Carmen Sandiego titles while smoothing the experience with modern quality-of-life features, contextual UI prompts, and streamlined mission flow. Educational elements are woven naturally into the design—city histories, cultural hints, architectural references, and regional trivia appear organically through the clues you discover. The game doesn’t preach or overwhelm; it simply embeds a gentle spirit of learning into its detective work, making curiosity feel like a natural part of the adventure. Visually, the game benefits from its modest but effective art direction. Cities are compact but distinct, using stylized architecture and bold colors to evoke global variety without requiring massive open-world environments. Each location feels like a neatly crafted diorama—recognizable, flavorful, and easy to navigate. The character models and animations lean into a Saturday-morning-cartoon sensibility, reinforcing the game’s approachable atmosphere. Music and sound design complement the aesthetic well, blending spy-themed motifs with regional flair. While the voice acting and pacing can feel uneven at times, the overall audiovisual package helps maintain a sense of globe-hopping excitement. Where the experience begins to show its limitations is in its depth. Investigations are enjoyable but rarely demanding. Clues tend to be straightforward, and the game often leads you toward conclusions rather than encouraging lateral thinking or complex deduction. For younger players or those seeking a breezy experience, this works wonderfully. For those hoping for more intricate puzzles or branching investigative paths, the simplicity may feel like a missed opportunity. Likewise, the relatively small pool of cities—about sixteen—means that the sense of discovery begins to taper off after several cases, and the mission structure gradually becomes predictable. Mini-games and gadget segments help break up repetition, but they too remain accessible rather than challenging. The game’s narrative is structured in episodic fashion, following Carmen’s efforts to thwart V.I.L.E.’s global schemes while asserting her identity not as a villain but as a cunning anti-hero who strikes at corruption and injustice. This reinterpretation of Carmen aligns well with her more recent portrayals in modern adaptations and gives her character a bit more moral complexity. Still, the story remains light. It sets the stage for missions rather than striving for deeper dramatic arcs. For the intended audience this is fitting, but players hoping for sweeping tales or complex character development will find the plot serviceable rather than memorable. What Carmen Sandiego ultimately delivers is a polished, approachable detective adventure built on a beloved formula. It respects the franchise’s educational heritage while presenting it through a modern lens, and it succeeds most clearly when embraced on those terms. Its modest scope and gentle difficulty curve keep it from achieving the depth or replay value found in more robust investigative games, but its charm, clarity, and colorful presentation fill that gap with warmth. For long-time fans, it offers a satisfying return to familiar rhythms; for newcomers, it provides a welcoming introduction to a world of global intrigue without overwhelming complexity. In the end, the game stands as a thoughtful revival—one that may not redefine the Carmen Sandiego legacy but confidently carries it forward into a new era. Rating: 7/10
