Game is unplayable. Loading Finished hotel or trying to do campaign all you get is "bright white screen" with some colored objects. No way to actually see what is going on
This is the worst sim building game I have ever seen, why is it so weird about where I can place things? I can't place a bed near a wall, or even in the middle of the guest room, I have to place it NEXT TO THE DOOR?! This was AFTER I had to spam click the door and then spam click the wall, it wouldn't add the door to the room... Very clunky.
Potential to be a really good fun game. Too many bugs that are clearly not gonna be fixed. Rooms never being used.. Pool empty.. Outside buildings not used.. Restaurants empty.. Advertisement campaigns having ZERO affect.
Hotel Giant 2 is an ancient game from 2010. It's a whopping 14 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks support for the typical features of modern gaming PCs, hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on contemporary machines. The game looks and feels dated. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an old game. This seems to have be lingering on Steam with an inflated price to try profit from abandonware. It's a hotel tycoon game as the name says, build and manage hotels, sort out the facilities, attract guests, balance the chequebooks... these games can work quite well and be very popular if they're implemented well. Which this isn't. On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers. From my experience with the game, it's somewhat bug riddled and has design/implementation/stability problems that will render this unplayable for many gamers. There's a lot of issues with stability, poor compatibility with modern builds of Windows 10/11... it can be a challenge to even get the game to run, and the developer shows no interest in maintaining the game (but they do want your money!) These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Hotel Giant 2 has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for building a nice restaurant, trivial to achieve, but less than 8 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch. The game never really caught on with the millions of gamers on Steam, with a very low peak player count close to launch, and then just a handful of players launching this game every couple of days. This is undoubtedly caused by factors such as those raised in this review. It's always helpful with buying decisions to consider how popular and successful the product is, and unfortunately while this did accumulate a few participation trophy reviews, overall, people just aren't using it. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Hotel Giant 2 is relatively expensive for an abandonware nostalgia gouge, at $8 USD, and it's not worth it. The game is just too old, hasn't been modernised. And as the old saying goes, you can't go home again. For comparison, the $8 asking price for this game could get you games like "The Witcher 2", "Batman: Arkham Asylumn" or "Shadow Warrior". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.
Hotel Giant 2 is an ambitious and detail-heavy management simulator developed by Enlight Software Limited and PerspectX, and published by Toplitz Productions, that attempts to place players in full control of every aspect of running a high-end hotel business. Rather than simplifying hospitality management into abstract systems, the game leans hard into granular realism, asking players to think like architects, interior designers, human resource managers, marketers, and financial planners all at once. Its core appeal lies in the promise of complete creative and managerial freedom, allowing players to shape hotels from the ground up while navigating the economic realities of the service industry. The game begins modestly, with players inheriting or constructing a relatively small property that must be expanded into a profitable operation. From the earliest moments, Hotel Giant 2 emphasizes customization and control. Rooms must be carefully laid out and furnished, not just for visual appeal but for functionality and guest satisfaction. With an enormous catalog of furniture, decorations, and functional objects, players can design everything from minimalist budget rooms to lavish luxury suites. These choices are not purely cosmetic, as room quality, layout efficiency, and décor all influence guest comfort, reviews, and willingness to pay higher rates. Beyond guest rooms, the broader hotel infrastructure becomes increasingly complex. Restaurants, bars, gyms, swimming pools, conference halls, shops, and entertainment venues can all be added, each bringing its own operational demands. Restaurants, in particular, exemplify the game’s obsessive attention to detail, requiring players to manage menus, ingredient quality, pricing, staff assignments, and even seating arrangements. While this depth can be rewarding for players who enjoy fine-tuning systems, it can also feel overwhelming, as even minor inefficiencies can ripple outward and affect overall profitability. Guests themselves are simulated as individuals with preferences, expectations, and routines. Different customer types value different amenities, service levels, and pricing strategies, and part of the challenge lies in attracting the right clientele for your hotel’s intended identity. Business travelers may demand conference facilities and efficient service, while tourists might prioritize leisure amenities and aesthetic appeal. Monitoring guest feedback and behavioral patterns becomes essential, as unhappy guests can quickly damage reputation and revenue, forcing players into a constant cycle of adjustment and optimization. Staff management adds yet another layer to the experience. Employees must be hired, trained, scheduled, and paid appropriately to keep operations running smoothly. Understaffing leads to long wait times and poor service, while overstaffing drains finances. Different roles require different skill levels, and training staff improves performance but increases costs. This balancing act reinforces the game’s core philosophy: success comes from meticulous planning and sustained attention to detail rather than quick decisions or broad strokes. The game’s scope is further expanded by its global setting. Players can establish hotels in numerous real-world-inspired locations across Europe and North America, each with its own economic conditions and guest expectations. These varied environments add contextual flavor and slightly different challenges, encouraging players to adapt strategies rather than rely on a single optimal approach. Campaign scenarios provide structured goals and constraints, while sandbox and random modes allow for freer experimentation, appealing to players who prefer open-ended play. Visually, Hotel Giant 2 reflects the era in which it was developed, offering functional but dated 3D graphics. While character models and environments lack modern polish, the presentation prioritizes clarity, ensuring that rooms, facilities, and guest behavior are easy to read at a glance. Day–night cycles and lighting effects add a degree of atmosphere, but the visual experience ultimately serves the simulation rather than trying to impress on an artistic level. The interface, though dense, is designed to expose as much information as possible, reinforcing the game’s emphasis on informed decision-making. Where Hotel Giant 2 becomes divisive is in its relentless micromanagement. The same systems that give the game its depth also demand constant attention, often requiring players to adjust small variables repeatedly to maintain efficiency. Automation options are limited, meaning that as hotels grow larger, the workload increases dramatically rather than smoothing out. For some players, this creates a satisfying sense of control and mastery; for others, it turns routine gameplay into a tedious checklist of minor adjustments. Pacing can also feel uneven, as progress is often slow and incremental. There are few dramatic turning points or emergent crises to break up the routine, and much of the challenge comes from maintaining stability rather than responding to dynamic events. This can make long sessions feel repetitive, especially once players have learned optimal layouts and strategies. The game rewards patience and persistence more than creativity or risk-taking. Taken as a whole, Hotel Giant 2 is a niche but earnest simulation that fully commits to its vision of total hotel management. It does not attempt to streamline or gamify the experience for broader appeal, instead catering to players who enjoy exhaustive systems and hands-on control. For simulation enthusiasts who relish micromanagement and take pleasure in refining complex operations, it offers a deep and customizable playground. For others, its sheer level of detail and slow pacing may feel more like work than entertainment. Its strengths and weaknesses stem from the same source: an uncompromising dedication to realism that makes Hotel Giant 2 a love-it-or-leave-it entry in the management simulation genre. Rating: 5/10
Don't even bother with this game. I followed Red's instructions to make it run, it wont work (not blaming them, I blame the bozo's who made this game). If I can run older games, then this should be a walk in the park. There should be an achievement for getting this game to run.
Весьма посредственная игра на любителя, много мелочей, но быстро надоедает.
love this game!
