As a longtime Dark Age of Camelot veteran, I went into Camelot Unchained with excitement, nostalgia, and a healthy amount of skepticism. After about 50 hours of playtime, I can honestly say I’ve had a really good time. My hubby and I spent thousands on DAoC over the years between multiple accounts, monthly subscriptions, and expansions. Every expansion was another purchase, and every account still had that monthly fee, but we loved it because the game gave us memories and experiences that were worth it. That’s why, for me, Camelot Unchained being only $10 in Early Access is a pretty easy recommendation. I already feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth. I’ve seen complaints about the graphics, and I understand what people mean, but honestly, they don’t bother me. The graphics have that older DAoC-style MMO feel. No, it’s not trying to be some ultra-polished modern AAA showcase, but it’s also not horrible. If your main concern is cutting-edge graphics, this probably isn’t the game you’re looking for, and that is okay. I’ve also seen complaints about character building and limited options. Right now there are three character options per realm, and I do expect that to grow and improve as development continues. But again, this is Early Access. Some people seem to forget what that actually means. There are bugs and rough edges, but I’ve run into far fewer issues than I expected. Even better, the devs are active, pushing hotfixes, and listening to player feedback. For an Early Access MMO, that matters a lot. The game definitely has nostalgia for DAoC veterans, but it also has new systems, player logistics, and mechanics to learn. It’s not just a copy-paste experience, and that’s a good thing. There’s a learning curve, but figuring it out has been part of the fun. Overall, I would absolutely recommend it, especially to DAoC veterans or players who understand what Early Access means. For $10, with active development and a community already forming around it, I think it’s worth jumping in and giving it a fair shot. Happy Hunting
Had to try this game myself after hearing everything about it and... all the criticisms about the game are true.
2.3 mil crowd funded in 2013, 2.3 MILLION, I gave them 80$ back in 2013.. 13 years later game looks like its from 2003, fps is trash.. looks like about 3 months of work from dev still learning to code. This is the new normal literal criminal behavior from game studios.. complete ♥♥♥♥, un playable. Can I get my 80$ back pls??
Could be fun. Can't say I didn't give it a fair chance with over 40 hours game time, but the balance between factions is really bad. Untargetable Arthurian Rogues, 100ft Root Snares from TDD Archers.. DEAD. Time to spend next 5 minutes running back to do it all over again. Also, Why the hell do defenders have a <10 second respawn INSIDE of the keep even when WE control the chapel? It's just a never ending battle.
newest update apparently requires more memory than I have and wont let me play.
Tried giving it a shot because I love PvP. Crashed twice at launch. After 5 days of uptime and with 100 players online that legitimately shouldn't happen. Fix the servers and maybe I'll fix my review.
The press is too negative. The game is great, there is no questing or bs, you just go out and gather, craft, and fight. Ashes of creation but more potential because every map point is claimable. Everything is pvp-able, and you can't gather unless you claim it. The pvp system is built for scale so as it grows it should get better. They need to polish it, but the bones are good, and I believe they are making progress weekly that you can feel. Highly recommend if you liked New World, ESO (Cyrodil), Ashes before it blew up, or enjoy realm v. realm mmos. Population is minimal right now, so you may want to wait if you don't like playing solo most of the time. When they launch that problem should go away quickly :).
Charakter erstellen, ging.
EARLY ACCESS. They game needs work yes but the amount of negativity reviews by ppl with .1hrs (6-7mins of play) is weird. If I didn’t know any better I’d say ppl are paying without intentions of actually playing just to review bomb.
