Fleeting, yet beautiful. The world of darkness――
The main protagonist, Cloe (name changeable) lived in a secluded town. Surrounded by wire fences, it felt like she was trapped inside a cage.
Zombies were the only residents in that town, and she wasn't the exception. Many took their own life rather than to age away, but they were otherwise living a peaceful life. One day however…….
As Cloe was hoping to see the outside world, she recieved an invitation. An invitation to attend a prestigious, diverse school only the most talented and skilled could join.
So is it worth 40 dollars?
No. Now here are the details. I bought this visual novel on Halloween because I wanted to play something thematically fitting for the holiday. By the time I purchased it, I already knew what otome games were like, so I was fully prepared for:

a silly plot
a dumb MC (Main Character) with zero logic or critical thinking
stereotypical, "cardboard" characters
As you can see, my standards for otome games aren’t high, because the genre itself doesn’t really offer titles with solid art style, engaging plots, or well-written characters (if you have seen such examples, let me know in the comments!). So with expectations already low, I sat down to play this VN hoping to just chill on Halloween night. (I’ll say upfront: while writing this review, I did take my low standards for the genre into account, which is why you won’t find “the MC is dumb” listed as a con. That’s just so basic so it’s not even worth to mention. If you need an actually interesting storyline and well-written love interests and you can’t ignore the lack of those, you DEFINITELY shouldn’t buy this game.)
Pros:
+ pleasant soundtrack + nice art style. I didn’t particularly like the characters designs, but they’re visually acceptable and don’t make you want to gouge your eyes out + full voice acting, including side characters who show up for a single line + achievements + each love interest’s route adds more information about the MC and the world. While playing a specific route, you’ll run into questions like “Why is the MC afraid of ***? Why did Nagi react that way to ***? How did the MC even end up in this school?” Most of your questions will be answered, but in other characters’ routes. This pushes you to complete all of them. + interesting lore. No, don’t expect Warhammer 40K levels of depth, but the novel actually explores class inequality, government structure, inter-species relationships and their daily life, etc. Each race also has unique, non-generic traits that make the characters more distinct and memorable. That’s genuinely rare for otome games, which usually revolve solely around the heroine and her admirers without even a basic explanation of why the world functions the way it does.
Cons:
- typos, machine-translated lines, grammatical and spelling errors. They could’ve hired someone competent to fix the text and handle the translation properly. Instead, I had to reread the same line multiple times because it literally didn’t make any sense. It took me a month to finish the novel because coming back to this poorly written mess was physically painful. - extremely choppy storytelling in the second half of ANY route. Each character’s route is split into two parts - Romance and Lovers. “Romance” covers how the MC and the love interest fall for each other. Predictable, yes, but still enjoyable to read (debatable tho - you’ll understand once you read Ray’s and Natsume’s stories). Each episode follows from the previous one, forming a coherent narrative. In “Lovers,” almost every episode has nothing to do with the previous one (except episodes 8-9-10, which are connected and lead to one of two endings). Episode one talks about the MC’s love for trains, episode two shows a dog’s dream, episode three talks about a vending machine that sells rare Coke, and so on. Completely pointless mini-stories that don’t help you bond with the characters - they only annoy you because you have to slog through them before reaching the actual ending. - your choices don’t matter at all. Even if you choose “don’t enter the room,” the MC will hesitate for a second but still enter because the plot demands it. Whatever you pick, the story stays on the same rails. Don’t expect branching paths, there are also two endings only. The only reason I've added this is because the game costs 40 USD. I wouldn't ask for anything like this from a game which costs 20 USD and lower. - dialogue choices are sometimes literally identical. I assume this is a translation issue, but options often sound exactly the same (just with words rearranged). You end up choosing between “A” and “A.” Picking the “correct” one is pure luck. Yes, choices don’t matter anyway, as I mentioned above, but it’s still mildly irritating. - Ray’s and Natsume’s stories reminded me of "Diabolik Lovers" (iykyk) - some side characters appear multiple times, speak a lot, have long scenes, and all their lines are voiced - but they have no picture. You just stare at a background image while listening to their dialogue. These characters can appear in two episodes in a row, and you still look at nothing the whole time. - you can’t date Erika. I would’ve loved a “secret route” unlocked only after completing all endings. Erika treats the MC with more care and tenderness than the actual love interests, yet she’s stuck as just a friend. She openly talks about her attachment to the MC - and they didn’t even give her an ending? Sad.
Despite everything I wrote above,
I would recommend this game - but only if we ignore the price. Because once you remember this visual novel costs 40 dollars, it becomes obvious robbery and absolutely not worth it.
MAIN PLOT
The MC is a zombie and she ran away from home to enter ELDERIC SCHOOL after she got an offer letter from the school. The school is a well-known school where all races studies together. Upon reaching there, the teacher will explain to you about the rules in school that peace must be maintain and the higher rank absolutely must not issue an order on the lower rank: (a higher rank monster can issue an order on the lower rank but not vice versa) Rank from highest to lowerst: 1. mermaid 2. vampire 3. demon 4. were wolf 5. mummy 6. invisible man 7. zombie After when you reached to the classroom and you introduced yourself, the teacher will tell you to choose one to be your partner to guide you in the school since you are new. Romance choice according to majorities recommended order: 1. Nagi 2. Shiba 3. Ray 4. Natsume
Nagi
Honestly, I really love cute guys with petite figure, it makes me wants to turn them into a small spoon and I will cuddle him up all day. He is also a very sweet, kind and intelligent man. He constantly helps his friends and classmates on their studies. However, invisible man are well-known for being mentally weak and if they are feeling too sad or negative, they will turn invisible and might remain invisible forever, and they will suffer from loneliness. Of course, they can turn invisible by will.
Shiba
Shiba is a werewolve and he will turn into a scary wolf [strike] cute puppy [/strike] on the full moon. He will get upset when someone calls him a dog or a puppy but honestly he looks like a shiba inu, [strike] maybe that's why the dev of the game calls him Shiba (?) [/strike]
Ray
He is a vampire, his only good point is that he is good looking but his personality is not my type. But he is the type that acts tough and mean on the surface but is secretly actually sweet
Natsume
My most favourite LI of all time, honestly he reminds me a bit of Shu from diabolik lovers. His race is a [strike]mummy[/strike]
mermaid
. He comes off as he does not care about a things in the world but he actually genuiely cares for his friend, and I am also surpise where he tested Nagi a maths question where Nagi's personality got mixed up, and he became stupid. So, Natsume tested Nagi to see how serious is the case. He is also an easily jealous guy and from his look to personality he is my absolute favourite.
Overall
I enjoy this game very much, if anyone is looking for a short and fun visual novel, this is for you. And I honestly think that the English translation is ok, there are some errors, but as long we understand it then it's fine. We don't get much localised VNs, so I really appreciate it.
