Call to Arms - Gates of Hell: Ostfront features the Eastern Front and its “Great Patriotic War” fought between the USSR and Germany. This RTS will take you from June 1941 until the end of the war in May 1945.
Call to Arms - Gates of Hell: Ostfront offers a choice of game modes including Singleplayer, dynamic campaign, PvE, PvP and co-op.
With its instantly switchable views, there’s something for every type of player. First person gunner views for all vehicles, third person views for vehicles and infantry, classic top-down direct control of a single unit or classic RTS top-down; they are all available and instantly switchable.
Conquest (dynamic campaign) mode offers singleplayer and co-op modes to play with your friends. Both modes allow you to compose your own army group, research new units and strategically advance in different paths to dominate the battlefield. The dynamic campaign can range from short to unlimited campaign lengths.
PvP/PvE offers a wide variety of maps from 1v1 to 4v4, and the use of “Doctrines”. These allow you to choose your own special units that fit your individual playstyle. The stage of the war (Early/Mid/Late) can be selected, to experience the evolution of equipment and vehicles as the conflict progressed.
Single player campaigns take place at historical locations, painstakingly recreated and immersive as hell.

i have tried for years to run this game with out luck. it wont even open. it just crashes. it has since the first launch. i kept it for a bit trying to fix it.. to this day after many tries and looking around the internet, this game still refuses to launch. i cant refund it anymore and kinda would still just like to play it. i wish i could say its my pc but i struggle to see as to how.
This game has a lot of promise but absolutely falls short of what it could be due to buggy programming, short-sighted mission design, and a lack of ambition about anything other than infantry tactics. To start it off, the AI that controls your tank units is thee dumbest ever. It consistently will have turrets on tanks rotated backwards as it's marching into or guarding someplace because it happened to spot an infantry or other unit behind it as it was moving or guarding. Rather than staying forward focused, you have to manually tell every single unit where to look because they do NOT return to any sort of neutral or forward position. The amount of nanny keeping you have to do to keep units FACING THE DIRECTION YOU TOLD THEM TO FACE is so beyond unnecessary and absolutely ruins the gameplay. I seriously cannot even with the absolutely abysmal command and control here - you will get buggy situations where the turret will not rotate with a rotation command and you have to go into first person mode and back out again and redo the rotate action all over again, because the game can't be programmed correctly. Good lord, they have AI, and yet they still can't figure this out. Oh, and did I mention that the "dig foxhole" button barely functions? It is the most annoying part of the interface by far. If it weren't for the fact your turrets are never facing the direction they should be, now you also have to deal with "dig foxhole" button not working half the time. So instead of digging foxholes you will be stuck in foxhole placement mode and trying to select the unit you just had selected to dig the foxhole yet again, but the button will be stuck and you will have to dance with the interface to get it to FUNCTION CORRECTLY. Hello, did they even smoke test basic functionality? The missions are absolutely uninteresting and focused mainly on small infantry tactics against an aggressive and far superior force. You rarely ever get any tanks, but expect the enemy to have many. Oh and the dynamic campaign is about the same: expect the AI to cheat and have an overwhelming force with the highest levels of supply and funding, but you... You will get only that which you pay for - the enemy gets to just have everything but you nothing. Doesn't matter how many times it gets the floor wiped, but if you lose half your force you better expect to pay up to replace anything. Oh and lastly, did I mention how the AI cheats and can see through massive amounts of brush and foliage to find you in the most camouflaged of positions, but good luck finding them on your own? Yeah, the AI basically can see through all of that and plays on potato mode apparently. Overall, the game was made with a lot of interest in the mix between FPS and RTS and while that's great and all, the fact that the game is just so buggy, the units are uncontrollably stupid, the AI cheats, and the missions are meh, I would say to save your money unless it's on sale for cheap. Also the DLC units aren't worth it. They all suck. Just go full tanks and some arty support. Everything else is just simply frosting on a badly made cake.

absolutely amazing game. the best tactical strategy rts for WWII fans
Really captures the good points of the old close combat games from years ago but with 3d models that you can actually jump into. AI enemies are pretty good and on higher difficulty it is not an easy game.
