About

Call of Juarez is an epic adventure western themed FPS game. The player alternately assumes the roles of two distinct, antagonistic characters: a sneaking fugitive Billy and his hunter the reverend Ray. Apart from the highly interesting, emotional and psychological aspect of the link between the two characters, the player will experience a variety of gameplay with many differences whilst playing a particular character.
The game features fast paced revolver duels using historically accurate firearms, horseback riding, mounted combat and stealth actions in memorable locations set after Western movies. Emergent gameplay based on accurate simulation of not only rigid bodies and rag-dolls but also liquids, gases, fire and smoke makes the gameplay innovative and non-linear.
Very serious approach to the Wild West theme and detailed reconstruction of the character and visuals of that times
The use of physics and innovative simulation of fire, liquids, dust, smokes and gases to construct emergent gameplay
State of the art graphics making use of the top technology graphics cards features on todays cards
Playing 2 distinct characters with different abilities and different gameplay
Horseback riding and saddle shooting, gunfighter duels
Using the whip to fight, move objects and move the player's character
Legendary weapons form the Gold Fever era and full akimbo mode for the hands on approach
Exhilarating storyline with full of twists and turns in this exciting Western Genre.

I've celebrated this game for 20 years. And you know it.
Крутая концепция с сюжетом, но геймлей не оч!!!
Call of Jank

What I liked about the game

The game has a nice selection of guns from that period. I like that the weapons you find vary in condition.
The gameplay, despite being janky, is quiet enjoyable. You can duel-wield, ride a horse, and gun duel. Each character has a special ability, like Ray being able to go into concentration mode and fast fire, while Billy can use the bow, which slows down time when aiming.
I like that you can interact with things in the environment, like open drawers, pick up barrels, and smack a horse in the ass to move it out of the way.
The stealth sections in the game were bearable. I do like that the game sometimes allows you to go in guns blazing when playing as Billy, instead forcing you to go stealth.
Throughout the game you will be visiting the typical Wild West locations, like the mines, a Mexican fortress, Wild West town, and have a shootout on a train.
I like that you get to play as two different characters. Billy is more stealth focused and ray is just a walking tank.
The game has collectables to find (wanted posters).
The voice acting was decent.
The story is good.
What I disliked or was disappointed with

The game is very janky, for example, Ray fell through the map dozens of times, enemies jumping up and down in cut scenes. Cut scenes are a bit rough around the edges in general, as well.
Soundtrack wasn’t memorable.
The game needed more blood and gore, like in the game Gun, to make the gamplay that bit more fun.
Shame you can’t aim down sight (properly).
Characters aren’t particularly interesting.
Only one type of rifle.
The game had some boring chapters that involved hunting rabbits and climbing a mountain.
Collectables were a bit boring. The developer (Techland) definitely improved the collectables in Call of Juarez Gun Slingers with the nuggets of truth.

Conclusion
If you are interested in playing call of Juarez then I would highly recommend you play the prequel first (Bound in Blood). The game is a bit janky, but I enjoyed my time with it. It is probably the weakest Wild West game I’ve played.
7/10
I already expected it to have bugs so it didn‘t really bother me after finding out . The bugs are minor anyway and easily resolvable. But i really like how the characters are made, both being iconic and still having the presence of a main character while having a personality of their own . Gameplay wise it‘s alright , but the game keeps sparking my interest on what happens next since there is no clear main character. Both Candle and the priest have valid standpoints ,making noone the real villain or hero. This game really is a refreshing experience compared to modern games with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ storyöines and even worse and insufferable characters.
So, a little over 10 years ago, my dad got me this game the day I was laid off from my job. It ended up being a good band-aid. Even though it was clearly made in the early 2000s and has somewhat cheap animations, especially for the player character, it's still a lot of fun. The akimbo-style gunplay was something rather new to PC gaming back in the day, but this game did it very well. Each episode switches between two main characters, each with different abilities and sometimes different weapons. One character is more stealth-oriented and the other is more combat-oriented. There is a range of firearms that can be used and a couple weapons specific to each character. The story's not difficult to follow. Most of it revolves around the lost, cursed gold of Juarez. There's a lot of adult-themed dialogue, especially when it comes to slurs. Most NPCs are pretty unlikeable because they're extremely judgmental and willing to snuff out a life for nothing more than pride. However, they usually get what's coming to them. In the end, if you think you'd like a Western action shooter, you'll like this.
Really awesome, old school game. A little difficult and may require a quick look at a guide here or there but a ton of fun. Story is very well done. I miss games like this!
Vale a pena jogar! Nota: 8/10.
