Black ops 2 is a good game, but unfortunately, Activision decided to give the Console players new fresh servers whilst us PC players have to deal with old and unprotected server. If you plan on playing multiplayer, i heavily advise against buying this as hackers can infect your device with malware and other ♥♥♥♥ easily.
This is probably the best Call of Duty in the franchise or a close second to Modern Warfare 2 (2009). The gameplay in this game feels amazing, the items don't feel too futuristic (and at the time of writing is actually dated) and there is a lot of replayability. Black Ops 2 takes place in "the future" in 2025 which is now in the past, and to be fair the types of futuristic items in the game are all real and exist today so for that it did a great job. There are no crazy exo suits like Advanced Warfare and stuff like that. Call of Duty slowly shifted it's direction to futuristic games like that due to thinking people like this futuristic concept and the rise of titanfall, but it ended up hurting the brand more than anything. What people really enjoyed about Black Ops 2 was the gameplay itself. The game changed up multiplayer a little but by creating a "Pick 10" system. This is different than the days of old where you pick 1 attachment for a gun carry 1 of each grenade, 1 of each perk and so on. The pick 10 system let you choose what you wanted... each item takes up 1 of your 10 slots. Don't want a secondary that gives you an extra slot you could take for an extra weapon attachment or drop a grenade as well and carry 2 of the same class of perk. The fan base loved this system however this system was broken in many ways and while it existed in this game, Black Ops III, Advanced Warfare (Pick 13), Infinite Warfare and lastly Black Ops 4 it was eventually dropped and replaced with the current Gunsmith config in Modern Warfare 2019 are beyond. Pick 10 was abused to take no attachments or secondaries and to carry 6 perks, if you could use iron sights well on a weapon you could essentially get a specialist config from Modern Warfare 3 without getting a single kill by carrying 6 perks and giving you a large advantage. The casual player base however doesn't understand that concept and prefers adding more cool attachments to their weapons and that's why the Gunsmith system provides the ability to run up to 5 attachments in Modern Warfare 2019, 8 in Black Ops 6 and 10 in Vanguard! This is the new age of Call of Duty and you won't find that here, you are stuck to a max of 2 attachments. The multiplayer in this game was a knock out of the park. Black Ops 2 has so many good iconic maps that are still being copied over and remastered in current Call of Duty games over 14 years later! It's a really testament to how good the maps really were on this game. The guns are pretty well balanced and contains not 1 but 2 loved snipers by the community which was slightly different from the previous Call of Duty games. Like Modern Warfare 3 there was a wide selection of weapons to choose from and the game also introduced new ways to unlock camos such as getting bloodthirsty medals and headshots compared to just weapon XP. This was also the first Call of Duty to add a Diamond camo, this was a hidden unlock once you got every item in a class gold for example every sniper gold would unlock diamond for snipers. Black Ops 2 also dropped the level cap to 55 and the XP needed to get to that level by half of what was needed to reach 80 in Modern Warfare 3, which hit with fans instantly. The prestige system was also less punishing as your camos and weapon attachments were not wiped when you prestiged like in Modern Warfare 3. Black Ops 2 also introduced scorestreaks for everyone, no more kill streaks. This was a good change for the casual playbase who struggle with stacking 9 or 10 kills for a chopper. You could play the objective and get score to unlock kill streaks rather than just needing kills. You kills from scorestreaks would give you less score than a normal kill when working towards your next streak. The scorestreaks were also obtainable over and over again. You could have a low score count setup and if you stay alive for say 20 kills you will earn the same streaks over and over. Overall the Multiplayer Mode is a 10/10 and goes down in history for myself and many others as the best Call of Duty ever. Multiplayer is mostly played on the Plutonium client these days and I have a guide on my profile if you need help setting it up. The Zombies mode was also a huge hit over the original Black Ops. The game featured a new map Tranzit which had a really cool concept of travelling by a bus to different smaller Zombie sized maps, the size they would be in say a World at War. You could also play those smaller maps by themselves without the bus mode and the devs made sure they had all the perks and pack a punch you needed to make them feel like there own map. The DLC maps for Black Ops 2 were just phenomenal, Der Rise was an amazing concept of 2 different buildings, tight corners and an elevator system to move to different floors on the map. Mob of the Dead was a great concept taking place in Alcatraz and just feels so fun to play and again tight corners and many objectives were added to build things and unlock areas using a custom ability limited to that map. Buried was again an amazing map taking place in the old wild west vibe and featuring a maze to reach the pack a punch machine. Buried was great for training zombies around as well as giving you tools to camp and hold down an area. Lastly Origins again another knock out of the park continuing the zombies story line forward from the original Black Ops characters. Origins was a WW1 style map taking place in the trenches offering more cool ways to build the pack a bunch machine as well as building staffs you could use as weapons. If your not someone who buys DLC often and especially not Call of Duty, I don't blame you most of the time they are just new maps that aren't that interesting. However this is the game you need all the DLC for to really enjoy. I can not stress enough how every single update and DLC to this game was just a smash hit. Zombies again is a 10/10. The maps as you can see are not even related to one theme and they are all still hit pieces which makes them each feel unique and fresh. This game was also why Call of Duty Ghosts felt so bland and horrible because it was released coming off the pure hype of this game, but that is another review in itself. Lastly the campaign was alight in my opinion I'd rate it a 7/10. It's your standard Call of Duty campaign but they do offer a few missions where you are working with many AI models to accomplish one task and it kinda makes you feel like your fighting along side an army. You could also customize the loadout of weapons you wanted to use in the campaign for the first time ever in a Call of Duty game, no more just using whatever gun they gave you at the start of each mission. This game also allowed you to make small choices in the game that ended up changing the overall ending of the story which makes it feel less linear and more like you have an impact. This was something common in the era as Battlefield 4 tried to do something similar. Overall a great Call of Duty game and worth buying with all the DLC!
Didn't have a chance to play the multiplayer on steam, although I did play on PS3 for a chunk of my childhood and remember bo2 being one of the best multiplayer experiences I'd ever had. The community really made this game, from sniping, trickshotting, zombies, window wars, massive clan wars, league. Hell even when the modders started flowing in, zombieland, prophunt, deathrun. Man what a time to be alive, I really do miss the bo2 days. Love ya Vondi
If you play multiplayer your PC will explode, your mom's credit card will get stolen, and your preggo furry art collection will get nuked. Beware!
14 year old game, worth $5-10 with all DLC included. "Standard" price still sits at $40 Activision still charges for a deluxe edition. You can NOT play without the plutonium mod or you risk getting your PC bricked. Playstation gets a remake while we get nothing. F*ck em, do not buy unless 90% off.
O povo reclamando de quando tava 109 reais, QUASE 380 CONTO VAI TOMA NO CU ACTIVIZION
the fact its only 40$ now after 14 years is horrendous it should be 10-20$ tops im not even kidding why is it so much money still AND WHY IS BLACK OPS 1 STILL 40$ despite the fact its infested with modders still i mean and you can get a virus if you play with people your older titles should not be 20-60$ still they should be cheaper
