If you play this just as a mediocre 3D quest without knowing/caring much about Lovecraft - you will probably have fun with it. But if you red "Shadow over Innsmouth" and "Call of Cthulhu", if you happened to play "Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth" - you're gonna hate this one. Because it feels like another Netflix adaptation, which simply does with the source material whatever it wants.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Very poor game, poor story, poor gameplay, no actions, shooting and so on, just walk, talk and hide sometimes. Couldn't finish it, drop it near the end
I feel that to understand and truly enjoy the game you have to be at least somewhat familiar with H.P. Lovecraft's ethos and writing. Many say that the story of the game is unpolished and rough around the edges, which isn't necessarily wrong, yet I would argue that it brings it a certain Lovecraftian aspect. You play as detective Pierce, a private detective from Boston who is hired by the father of the recently deceased Sara Hawkins. He bids you go to the island where she used to live with her family, and uncover what happened to her. As you play the game, you are subject to a plethora of mysterious and unexplainable happenings. Things quickly turn towards the occult, and the game becomes more about delving deeper into the mystery while trying to keep your sanity intact (or perhaps not). One drawback of the game I would like to point out is that some stats such as strength and eloquence do not come into play as much as investigation and find hidden. I would prefer if there were more options for that, but this is a finished game already. I also feel that there aren't enough consequences for your choices, and, having replayed certain parts of the game, I noticed that in a great number of encounters, choices don't matter. It is only later in the game where you can communicate in a different language that the choices begin mattering. Furthermore, more endings to this would be amazing. I don't think that the 4 endings are representative of all the things that could have happened in the game. Besides my critiques, I thoroughly enjoyed the game, and would recommend it to any Lovecraft enthusiast, or anyone who is even remotely interested in such occult and otherworldly mysteries.
Pretty good for what it was. Wish we got more time with the characters and Darkwater (learning it's history through interacting), but I enjoyed the ride. The story can be confusing, but it's a Lovecraftian tale so unreliable narrators comes with that. It's a VERY linear story though, so keep that in mind in case you want to do more exploring and clue-finding before going anywhere near the chapter goals.
