Some how the game is good. I like the ways characters could be out of control. But later on the map is quite large and boring.

Calamity Angels is not a bad game, it has the structure of a good game and the charm to carry it around, but it feels a little undercooked. Once the honey moon with the game gimmicks wear off, the game becomes a slog to play thru. Combine with the lack of challenge, large maps that have that limit your movement to 3 tiles, and the repetitive nature of the game, it's hard to recommend it. Somnia is the best girl tho.
What just happened?... + good artwork + good localisation + colorfull menues + normal comedy anime troupe + interesting battle mechanics where mood, fear, passion etc. becomes important + RPG x Board Game + leisure gameplay + surprise mechanics across the board (and infight) + supreme Japanese VA - powerbalance is pretty much unoptimized - basically the fighting system is interesting, but limits itself to much in wheel of RNG-happenings - many characters are underwhelming or have problems to land hits (for example fear of bugs or stuck on things etc.) - the layer of failing and succeeding in attacks are pretty much over the place and mostly unreliable even if you plan ahead (even though the game is not difficult) - many fail options for attacks, even if you succeed the input for the character, the attack itself can still miss or even the animation for special attacks - dialogues are pretty normal - missing QoL features (such as double checking decisions, skip function for battle, skipping long animations etc.) - the problems of the party are kinda ok at first, but become a major problem later to devise a good strategy - super moves are pretty random and some hard to trigger - to many miss-options for special attacks: attack command succees/miss -> attack animation itself success/miss -> hitting enemies success/miss - dungeons will get tedious in endgame (which is pretty much useless grind) Conclusion: The game boasts an interesting battle mechanic, paired with some elements of a board game. The problem here is, the system noch really much thought through and can be a RNG disaster were dont even known, why some things are happening, because well yes, it just happens (or not). The game has an okayish OST. The localisation is good, there characters are colourfull illustrated, as well as their character traits. The story is a normal standard thingy comedywise. Powerbalance and system are here kinda of (for example compensate power and RNG with ingame money). Basically the game delivers a good idea, but these things impact the game too much negatively or became obsolete while getting stronger. I tend to rate this game neutral, but the fun of the game is drowned by to much unneccessary things, which should have been better in the end. Score: 49 13/10 The Pocket-Mimic ate my Foes! 13/10 The party of misfits 1337/10 The Gods Pudding!
Love that all my teammates ignore what I want them to do... at all possible counters, always !! Jokes aside, fun cast of characters and I really enjoy it so far !!
