The lovable bulb boy returns for another round of adventure inside his strange home. This time, his grandfather runs out of jam and sends him to fetch a new jar from the dark basement. But when he finally opens the cupboard, a monster pulls him inside and the real trouble begins. The series is known for its deliberately cute visual style mixed with horror elements, unsettling creatures, and a few grim moments. All of this is paired with fun, distinctive animations. Your character reacts to the world with exaggerated expressions of fear, disgust, or surprise, which adds a lively charm to the experience. There is also a playful visual twist because your head glows like a real light bulb and can even detach from your body. This becomes important to the story after you are attacked by something that mutates your form, forcing your lonely head to find new ways to move around. Gameplay follows the familiar point and click structure found in many modern adventure games. You make progress and solve puzzles by moving the mouse and searching for interactive hotspots. There is no special button that highlights these hotspots, so you must pay attention to the mouse cursor as it shifts into an eye for examining scenes or objects, a hand for picking up or manipulating items, or a rare mouth for speaking with characters. At certain moments you can also control your flying pet or your grandfather, and some sequences require simple timing, though nothing becomes too difficult. The left mouse button handles all interactions while the right mouse button opens your inventory. You never carry many items at once, and using them is very straightforward. You simply click on an item to make it active, then click on the nearby hotspots. Bulb Boy has to walk to each hotspot, so it is usually quicker to test all available interactions in one place before moving on. If you want to deactivate an item, simply press the right mouse button again. Close-up views occasionally contain small mini games that are easy to understand. Examples include a short shooting segment, pressing buttons in a specific order, squashing fleas, and several other quick activities. None of these sections last too long, but one of them can break if you are not careful. During the flea squashing mini game, letting the fleas lay eggs causes them to multiply rapidly until the game becomes impossible to clear. Fortunately, you can fix this by returning to the main menu and loading your progress again. The adventure is divided into chapters, each consisting of one or two screens. Despite the rich visual details, interaction is limited to essential hotspots, and there are no unnecessary objects to distract you. A chapter select feature is available, though you only need it if you miss one of the secret achievement hidden in every chapter. These achievements require specific actions with certain items and are necessary to unlock the final bonus scenes. Overall, the entire game takes about two hours to complete.

I enjoyed this game and would definitely recommend it. There were a couple of bugs in the initial release, but I believe they have been fixed. Also, there were a couple of spots where I wasn’t at all sure what needed to be done, or spots where I was sure of what to do, but unsure of how to do it…but I never got stuck for too long. And I will say that I actually liked the decision to add more colors as opposed to the first game which was monochromatic—though I liked that about the first game, it was nice to see the unique and adorable art style in full color for this sequel.

Fun and weird as ever just now in muticolour! I even managed to do the boss despite me having horrible co-ordination. Also I did a puzzle that was optional, but I just had to. Hence the longer than most play time.

很可惜没有第一部好玩。是不是内部换人了？这一部纯恶心不恐怖，剧情叙述也不清楚，玩了一个小时多都不知道在干嘛。只能说不值这个价格，便宜点可能会考虑继续游玩。

There's a demo. Don't trust reviews, just play the demo. Solid point and click puzzle game with a fantastic cute-disgusting art style. The puzzles aren't too difficult, but a couple did take some thought to get through. Only negative is a sudden turn to action gameplay for one scene, which is out of place and annoying in a slow-paced puzzler. Still, fun game and worth your time. But, seriously, just play the demo.

I was excited for this game when it came out. I really enjoyed the art style, but the boss fight at the end was kind of annoying. Overall, I like the first game more than this one, but this is still worth checking out.

Bulb Boy was one of the first Let's Plays I did for Youtube and I thoroughly enjoyed it despite me being an anxious nervous wreck back then haha. The surrealism, art style and monochrome world had me gripped from the start. I'm glad to see BB return, albeit a decade later, and it was nice seeing nods towards the first game throughout. Overall I enjoyed it, but the first game will always be extra special to me for various reasons. It's always hard to follow up after such a hit game. However, with that said, I would recommend this game if you're into surreal cute horror - now in super bright colours! Some of the visuals were especially pleasing.
