Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back

yesterday, i bought this game, speedrunned it and refunded because... i dont think owning this is necesarry for its lenght. Did i have fun? Due to the minimal level design and overall satisfaction, not much. but it think the fun part was really just running this through. Do i recommend this? in this scenario, since this game is short and you can refund... Yes?

Bubsy woolies Strike back é nostalgia pura, é como jogar a versão de snes mas em gráficos 3D, é um game que não se deixa a desejar para os fãs do gato planador. Os gráficos são bem agradáveis e detalhados para um game de plataforma, trilha sonora muito boa, lembrando as trilhas das fases de DKC, fases coletáveis e boss bem desafiadores, só que o game é bem curto e tem pouca variedades de inimigos, a game play é um pouco repetitiva por que não tem uma variedade de obstáculos nas fases, a não ser no ultimo estagio, porém recomendo o game!

I think the game is actually pretty fun and gets way too much hate. It's very simplisitic 2D Platforming fun in my eyes and Bubsy is kinda goated for all his funny one liners too, makes me chuckle. Obviously the budget for this game was incredibly small and you can tell! Still I don't think the graphics look that bad and the music is okay as well, but yeah the presentation is definently really bad... One funny thing I noticed is that from each world stage 1 was by far the worst one to get trough and the last one was always the best. All in all this game is nowhere near purrfect, but I still recommend it! It's pretty nice to get trough and the best 2D Bubsy game. (Which is an incredible low bar to pass of course) So Get this game on sale when you can! (Don't pay full price though!)

It's a good game, but it lacks challenge and the variety that the previous games had. And it's short enough to finish in an hour or less. A "quick game before I gotta go to bed because I have work in the morning" turned into an entire playthrough because I just blew through the entire thing. But despite that, the controls feel smoother than they did in previous Bubsy games, and the pounce mechanic is actually a lot of fun. It's good to see the Bubsy series making little improvements. Skippable if you're looking for more of a challenge, though. I understand the previous games were too frustrating, but I think they over-corrected the problem in some ways. I do hope the pounce mechanic becomes a mainstay in more Bubsy games going forward, it just makes so much sense for the character and it's a lot of fun to get a pounce combo going against several mid-air enemies. Bubsy 2 is still my favorite in the series, but Woolies Strike Back is a close second. Fun for a casual romp, though it might not have enough content for the price to some people.

It's a pretty decent game. Short by modern standards, but 2D Bubsy was never supposed to be a long game, same with Sonic games. I'd put this up with Sonic 4 Episode 2 as games that people tell you are bad, but aren't actually bad games. I didn't have the same experience with Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back as I did with Sonic 4 Episode 2, so it's not quite as memorable. Music is pretty good, would be something I'd listen to in my free time while doing stuff around the house, though it's a bit frustrating that the OST is just game rips with no titles or coverart. Gameplay is also pretty good, though the default keybinds are a little weird. Glide probably should've been on B instead of Y. It's not too challenging for most of the game, but in the Final Region it starts pulling some unfair moves like rising platforms that push you into the ceiling for a squish death. Bosses were surprisingly difficult, I actually spent about an hour on boss 2 and the final boss, which was unexpected (and a bit frustrating). Achievements are pretty simple and prioritize exploration, which is what the gameplay is about, so it works out very well unlike Bubsy II.

If you're going for full completion, you've got a good game on your hands. Definitely worth playing during a nice, relaxing afternoon. People may make fun of the talkative bobcat, but I've been liking this cheesy, chatty, and charming character since day one.

Actually bubsy plays really well here. The bosses are kinda tough. But not too tough. I'd play it again sometime

Its a fun but basic 2.5D platformer! A few notes: I like the lives system reseting the lives for each stage, and turning the shirt 1ups from Bubsy 1 into essentially a 1 hit shield, then turning into lives like in the original once you got one! I like the incentive to collect as much wool as you can! The character designs are GREAT and I LOVE the dialogue provided by the bubster! But also, this game lacks identity! The reason I even tried Bubsy 1 despite disliking classic sonic games is because of its fun and unique artstyle! This game feels cheaply and quickly but together, even if it made some thoughtfull cool improvements! The new pounch move is great, and I love the quality of lives improvements! I also like the lack of a momentum system, since I HATED that in Mania.. This is the most accesible Bubsy to date, but it does lack the heart and creativity that the original had in its art direction.. I would also love for an inclusion of a mechanic that difficult players find harder to master, but is optional for the casual player!
