A lo-fidelity First Person Snatcher inspired by the immersive sims of yesteryear. Play as Fennel, a knife-wielding swamp devil with an eye for gold and a penchant for violence. This is a really cool game with an amazing concept, but it feels very under baked and under playtested. Most of the trailer is just the first major level when it comes to combat and the second major level doesn't feel anything else like it. I think it's a very great idea, but needs a whole lot more refinement in... every aspect. It's not bad! It's very good at what it wants to do! It's just that it needs some QoL and better level design, mostly.
I really wanted to love Brush Burial, and for a little bit I did - the game has a cool visual style, the map for Act 1 is a maze of nonlinear connections that is a joy to explore, especially with the game's unique tail-grappling system, and there's plenty of fun, scrappy combat. The ImSim inspirations really come through in the first half, as you're crowbarring open vents, creeping up on foes, grabbing dropped weapons and throwing them at enemies to knock them off balance... even the very restrictive inventory management adds to the fun, forcing you to improvise and cycle through items frequently. Still, for all I like Act 1, I bounced off of it a few times due to how directionless it feels. I wasn't clear on where I was going or what I was trying to accomplish. Despite it being a very short game (you could probably beat it in an evening) I started it several times without finishing it. Now that I've seen it through, I can say that the first half of the game is a pretty decent addition to the growing catalog of indie immersive sims. Which is why it's incredible to me that the second act of the game is absolutely miserable; bewilderingly bad. Everything good about the first act - open-ended level design, creative, improvisational combat, stealth, exploration, even inventory and resource management, gets completely discarded in favor of a series of interconnected puzzles. Each of the puzzles on their own is more tedious than challenging, and since navigating between puzzles is a meta-puzzle in itself, odds are you'll be completing some rooms 2-3 times as you experiment with how the room teleportation system works. Even the game's standout traversal mechanic starts to feel exhausting, like you're just spamming spacebar and right mouse to float along walls and awkwardly shuffle around the level geometry. When you've finally endured the game's agonizing series of mediocre puzzles, it concludes in a straightforward, slightly annoying boss-fight. Overall, Brush Burial left me disappointed and confused. I don't think I've ever see a game completely stop caring about all of its most interesting mechanics halfway through like this.
Lovely atmosphere and fun movement + combat!!!!
Pretty good little atmospheric exploration game. it's very short and I felt the math puzzle in the second level was a bit annoying but luckily if you sit down and figure it out you can work out a very cheap solution to avoid thinking about it too hard and save scum to get through it. Definitely play the second game it expands a lot on the exploration and combat in a lot of meaningful ways it really fleshes out the foundation that was built here in this game, it's very good.
you get to prowl around leap on guys and assassinate them with crazy movement it's absolutely fire
I played acts one and two and finished this cool indie stealth sim. Really, only act one is fun, albeit a bit cryptic. Act two is kind of a mess of puzzles and RNG it is skippable. Time to play gutterworld.
2 часа бегал по первому уровню, нашёл все секреты, несколько раз привёл всех жителей города к комнатной температуре, а потом оказалось что надо всего-то посадить 5 цветков
A very unique short but sweet immersive sim that keeps you wanting for more. The movement system & combat feel really smooth & rewarding once you get the hang of it. Be warned though! You will need to figure out things on your own. There is no handholding or directions & it can be especially hard to figure out what to do in act 2. I recommend sticking with it though, or if you really cant figure it out, look up a guide or something. If you're someone who doesn't mind figuring things out, get it, it is really rewarding for those types of players. It's a beautiful game really, and 100% worth the price.
act 1 was pretty fun if a bit short act 2 tried being like a puzzle game with no enemies but this meant it was really boring and i just decided to glitch through the door to get to the final boss fight the boss fight was pretty meh it was quite easy to beat overall if you did want to buy the game id wait until it goes on sale and dont expect to have that much fun after act 1
very fun, especially for the price. pretty short though.
