Broken Sword 4 - the Angel of Death (2006)

So wie der 3. Teil, folgte auch dieses Spiel dem 3D Trend. Man hat in diesem Teil zwar die Steuerung so angepasst das man nun sowohl mit Maus und Tastatur spielen kann. Die leidigen Actionsequenzen wie im 3. Teil hat man sich jetzt zum Glück gespart, trotzdem hat das Spiel immer noch einen gehobenen Schwierigkeitsgrad. Was auch sehr störend ist, ist die Tatsache das nicht überall Hotspots angezeigt werden, so das man zuerst etwas Hilflos an einigen Stellen nicht weiterweis. Zum Beispiel wird kein Hotspot angezeigt wenn man eine Leiter erklimmen kann, oder über einen Abgrund springen muss. Das verwirrende ist das an einigen Stellen diese Hotspots angezeigt werden, an anderen Stellen aber nicht. Ich hatte ja in meiner Rezension zum 3. Teil noch einen Daumen hoch gegeben da die eigentliche Handlung sehr gut und Spannend war. Diesen 4. Teil fand ich jedoch nicht so toll, vor allem das Ende. Da wird man gegen Mitte des Spiels so langsam gewahr das man die verlorene Bundeslade sucht. Wow!! dachte ich, jetzt wird es spannend. Und dann finden wir diese Tatsächlich, müssen aber nur noch Nico retten und das wars dann. Wie bitte? Wir finden die verlorene Bundeslade und das Spiel ist zu Ende? Summa Summarum: Steuerung im Vergleich zum 3. Teil verbessert, Grafik durchweg sehr gut, aber die Handlung hat mich nicht überzeugt.

Impossible, même en bidouillant des fichiers des jeu, d'entendre les dialogues toujours coupés avant la fin ! Qu'est-ce que c'est énervant !! -- • Level design : Le déplacement et la caméra : ATROCE. -- • Lore : Fourni et bien expliqué -- • En résumé : L'histoire et l'ambiance étaient là... Mais c'est tout. Quel gâchis ! Ils auraient dû rester comme dans les deux premiers de la sage et ne pas s'essayer à la 3D.

Mehr Bugs in einem Spiel gehen nicht. Steuerung und Kamera noch schlimmer als beim 3.ten Teil, und das soll was heißen.

Story Great - Characters Great ...But...The Grafic of part 3 and 4 are realy Bad - they wanted to try new Ways but they destroyd the Game with it ! With Part 5 they was going back to the original grafic and the Fans Loved it. They reamade part1 and now they do part 2, also game number 6 arives soon in that beautiful Original Style ! why they dont Remake 3+4 in That Grafic - oh man i would love it and buy it !

I wouldn't say this is a bad game, just a product of bad choices. Starting 3, the 3D felt like a shock, somewhere around 80% I was used to it and even started to like it. I did not like the art choices for 4. The game does feel rushed, but it was a different time, 3D Universes like GTA were hits, 2D practically had 1 foot out the door and there were big developments in the industry overall because of the HD Console generation. Complaints about the jokes and the writing style of this game are invalid. I played this game 20 years ago and as a 13-year old a lot of jokes definitely went over my head. But having played the previous 3 last month, the writing is in line with the series, but there are a couple of lore errors (again, rushed). For the bad reviews complaining about the story, almost every question is explained in the game so don't let that stop you. As a mild fan of the series, skipping wasn't an option anyway, but if you played the last 3, you will still notice this game breathes Broken Sword, but it's just hard on the eyes. But definitely don't start with this one or introduce someone to the series with this one.

Es ist schade das dieser Teil einfach nicht das so gut fortgeführt hat... Finde es auch sehr schade das,dass Ende so ist wie es ist... hätte man besser Gestalten können... Aber ich hab es nun nur gespielt gehabt, weil ich halt alle Teile Erleben wollte und nicht immer ist ein Teil stark... wie dieser hier beweist... Also die "Quick Events" reichen Zeitlich gut aus, wenn man mit der Tastatur arbeitet und nicht nur sich auf das Clicken verlässt... auch wenn das Clicken fürs Klettern gut unterstützt weil da die Tastatur nicht immer greift... Also ja Fortbewegungs Mechaniken, sind nicht so gut umgesetzt.... Solltet ihr einen Bug haben wo ihr auf einer Stelle steckt... "mit glück neu laden und behoben oder wenn es nach einer Cute Szene einsetzt" direkt mit der Tastatur in die Richtung drücken, da das Zeitfenster sehr klein ist das ihr euch weg bewegegen könnt. Die Rätsel waren leider auch diesmal sehr blöd gelegen... und hätte ich nicht immer wieder mal in die Lösung geschaut... jor wären wohl Stunden drauf gegangen, weil es einfach.... nicht für mich sinnig war, besonders bei Mechaniken... die halt in einem Raum zuerst nicht angezeigt wurden sind und dann später aktiv wurden... Man sucht wirklich sich eine Weile tot.... besonders wenn man weiß, das ab und an auch Incons nicht angezeigt werden aber man interagieren kann.... Also Technisch gesehen hätte hier einiges verbessert werden können.... Hoffe das Teil 5 es einfach wieder raus reist, ich mag ja George....

Doesn't deserve mixed reviews. Controls ain't that bad guys. The writing and voice acting is as good as the other games

This game is so hard that I thought it just did not work at first. Everything has to be done by a spoiler. I am on the bomb now, and can not get past it. Hard game if you can do it.

This is by far the worst game in this series. It's clear that trying to go 3D was a huge downfall, starting from the 3rd one of course. The gameplay is much worse, the camera is still awful, there are still box moving puzzles (much less than in the 3rd one but still there) and somehow they managed to break the most important thing in a game for me, which is the story. It's lame, anticlimactic, that gives you little will to carry over. I thought that at least the finale would save a bit from this huge disappointment of a game, but it was clearly unable to do so. By the way, it's the first game in the series that I actually went online and searched for how to solve some puzzles as they didn't make any sense. I'm actually glad that I did because I still find them lame and non-sensical. Do I recommend this one? NO! Stick to the 1st and especially the 2nd ones. The 2D era made this series great for me.
