Really wasn't for me. I think it helps if you're already a psychopass fan before playing. First play through of each route is OK but to get all endings you have to repeat so much with minimal deviations in the story. It just got extremely tedious extremely quickly. Writing is good and story is good if somewhat predictable. I still can't recommend it because I was bored a lot of the time while playing. I wasted an unnecessary amount of time on trying to like this game after the first run.
I would only recommend this if you are a big fan of the series. I've only played the female character route so it might be different for the male. The game has a lot of choices, but a lot of those choices don't mean much just changing a few lines. Even the game routes don't deviate a lot, the worst part is you can't skip this. The skip feature seems broken, oftentimes I would read one thing and save the game and try to skip to a new choice but what I read before doesn't skip. The game would feel much better if they removed the illusion of choice and focused on delivering one or two good routes. Instead they give a bunch of "true" endings for the female character, I played through 4 of them and they are pretty forgettable. The story could be written better but it seems they just wanted to advertise how many choices there are, they also put a 2048 game into a visual novel for some reason. The 2048 game is fun, but using it to unlock content just makes it seem like they want to pad the play time. For people that are into the series but not huge fans I would say skip this vn.
Got to swim with Ginoza, 10/10 game My heart exploded thanks
While I enjoyed this game during the first playthrough, the main plot is virtually identical for all the other playthroughs even when you play with a different character. Not only that, but the Skipping system is flawed, making me replay the same scene (or one veeeery similar) just because it's in a different story "branch." This made each new playthrough a chore where I can't skip even though I'm reading the same thing over and over. Since one of the things I enjoy in visual novels is to play all storylines, I feel like I'm missing out on the endings I won't see because I just lost my patience when *again* I couldn't skip a scene I already watched.

”
PSYCHO-PASS: Mandatory Happiness is a side story that takes places parallel to the events of the first season of the anime; however, it's supposedly not part of the canon. After learning this piece of information, it may feel unnecessary or even meaningless to play it - and I cannot totally disagree with that. The side case we embark on, accompanied by two new, averagely written characters, is not bad, it just doesn't offer you anything profound and breathtaking, unlike the first season of the show. The choices you make change how the story unfolds, however as the majority of the games in the genre, it's not drastic. Having said all that, I would still recommend the game, but only to those who want to experience a new part of this complex world and see familiar faces in action one more time.
If you're coming into this game thinking it's going to be like anything you've seen in the anime, turn away now. I say this because that was my exact thought process when I purchased and began playing this game a few years ago. As a result, I came out of my first playthrough disappointed. Mandatory Happiness maintains the setting and characters from the first season, conveniently dropping the new protags somewhere in the middle of all that. MH is fully voiced, which is something that I appreciated while playing and is one of the high points of the game. The story, is not, however. It's not bad, but falls flat in many areas. There's not a lot of stops along the way, so it ends up being a pretty straightforward experience. This makes the journey to end of the game feel like a hurtle, and when you get there, it's anticlimactic at best. Furthermore, the new characters were not built up enough to stand on their own in a game full of beloved faces that have seasons of development and characterization behind them. Which is unfortunate, because in spite of that, I really enjoyed Nadeshiko and Tsurugi's characters. Some other positives: the 2048 minigame, a fun yet confusing addition (but I still welcome it anyway), art gallery, glossary, and other small things that don't really save MH from its middling story but are nice to have regardless. If I had to rank this game, I'd give it a 6. Maybe my bias as a PP fan is stopping me from scoring it lower, but I also can't go any higher than that. I'd still recommend it though, I was disappointed with this game due to its wasted potential, but still found some moments I enjoyed. Plus someone else may find more to like about this game than I did.
