About
Once upon a time, the world was saved by the Brigandine.
This arcane armor, forged by the great sorcerer Lunadea, brought an end to the ambitions of the Abyssloa Empire.
200 years have since passed, and the continent’s current greatest superpower, the Kingdom of Solginat, has grown into a disquieting presence. In response, the rulers of various nations, spearheaded by the queen of Mysteine—a realm that carries on Lunadea’s will—gather together to issue a formal denunciation…

Story Mode
Experience the unique stories of six distinct nations, each set in motion by the rebirth of the Abyssloa Empire.

Mission Mode
Select from 24 nations to play as, each with its own win condition.

During Organization Phases, allied troops can be strengthened in preparation for the upcoming battles.
Efficient task management will prove key in maximizing your forces’ improvements.

During Attack Phases, other countries can be invaded to obtain resources or strengthen personnel.
Whether to invade or not is for you to decide.

Battles are turn-based and take place on a hexagonal grid.
Focus down enemy leaders to force a retreat or defeat each unit one by one. Strategy is in your hands.

I played the Story mode as the Mysteine faction, I really wanted to like this game, I think it does technically have the makings of a good game, but the strategy game battles just suck, more than anything the AI just has no idea how to play the game, they send their spellcaster squad commanders to melee your tank for single digit damage and lose quarter of their in return, and in one of the battles one of the enemy squads started running around destroying random barricades that were in no way relevant to the battle instead of coming in to assist the squad I was attacking, the enemy squads in general just stand around waiting and in almost every battle you can very easily engage the enemies in such a way that you only take on one of the enemy squads at once by just moving around your pieces for several turns, it feels dumb but the game really isn't giving me any compelling reason not to do that, maybe the hard difficulty has turn limits or something IDK. The Grand Strategy management aspect is a bit better in comparison and I was actually kind of enjoying just building up my forces and wealth and invading other factions while trying to keep my own bases protected, the anime art is a bit generic in comparison to the more unique stuff the series used to have I think but nonetheless I still quite like the artstyle and I liked collecting all the characters, I feel the designs themselves are distinct enough and like how they all got their own little piece of lore to read, voice lines and whatnot and some have unique skills and traits too, unfortunately though only the main characters seem to have unique battle models. Unfortunately the longer the game went on and the more of the country you managed to control it also made the management and outfitting of all the squads increasingly more annoying, I could've probably done more with less if I had known how the late game battles ultimately play out, but managing so much does get annoying with so little quality of life features, you go through those menus, outfit all your squad members, set-up quest parties all one click at a time and it started getting really tiresome, and I was also hitting the item cap by the end of it too which also meant more clicking around selling junk from guys I was not using. Also with much of just moving around you pieces in the strategy battles I wish the game also had some manner of auto movement feature when I just wanted to move my squads around. There's a very simplistic story going in the background, you really only dealt with a handful of the factions in the story, though I assume each of the 6 main story campaigns does have their own event battles dealing with the other factions, the music is very generic and forgettable, you got the same battle theme playing through the whole game including the final battle. I have not played the earlier Brigandine games so I donno how this compares to those, but I cannot in good conscience recommend this game unfortunately. I believe In addition of figuring out the AI this series just feels like it is stuck in the past and need to figure out some way to evolve.

I gotta say this, this gem in NO WAY is worthy of a Mostly Negative score on Steam, smh. Just no way. The gem is NICE man! VERY nice. It takes a different but very fresh approach, and still feels very much like a deep Brigandine game, just a bit also more like a dope JRPG as well. It's a mix and it's beautifully made, not cheap like some person said. Nothing cheap about it, it runs like a dream and feels awesome and atmospheric to enjoy and play. Plus the TONS of content?!? Yeah, this one is legit, and I'm happy to see Brigandine back, although with a MN score on Steam who knows how long they will be back for, smh. Peeps need to realize and understand that these gemz are GIFTS to us. Be grateful, dang. Quit rejecting good efforts because you are entitled and feel you need things to be perfectly your way or you're going to rage on them and ruin their business. It's shameful honestly, and not like Our Heavenly Father would want from us. Be thankful we get gemz like these at all man, and play them and enjoy. The gem is good, no lie, quit reviewbombing good games!! Peace & Love & Blessings from Heavenly Father. <3
This is my first Brigandine game and I've been looking forward to it's release for weeks! It's been out 2 days and I've almost 30 hours in it already and cleared the dragon campaign. My only gripes: 1. The game really needs a sandbox mode where you can play through as any nation and try take over everywhere. I thought with the missions mode letting you pick any nation that'd be it but unfortunately it's just curated missions with a little story mixed in. Which is the last thing I wanted. 2. The game needs more unique models for heroes! Like 90% of the ingame models are just reskinned mercenary models. When I was playing the demo as red haired girl I assumed all the heroes would have unique models like her. But nope, it's just her and a handful of others. 3. There needs to be an option to mass buy units, and mass upgrade units. In the late game when you have every base conquered you kinda need to make hundreds of mercenaries and monsters to farm up the materials to get to level 3 on every base, then more to try get the high end weapons. Clicking "Golem, accept, accept again because it's not the default for some reason, space, space" 300+ times is so annoying! then you have to individually click and assign each one to each space on your unit list. Then you have to click into a unit hit "upgrade, yes, yes again because again no is set to default for some reason, then escape to skip the animation" If you want 10 mercanaries in a base to farm up upgrade crystals, with mermaids for example, you need to summon 60 characters. Individually click each mermaid to each slot, then if it was a tier 3 base click into upgrade each of them individually. 4. There's no good way to search for items in the overview map. If you need to know which base gives you the angel upgrade material for example, you have to click every single base, click quests, then click the second option. In the late game you're doing that well over 100 times to find: Base upgrade materials, class upgrade materials and 3 star weapons. It took me 3 goes of every base before I realized there isnt a 3 star necklace rare quest. Just add a search bar! 5. No alternate upgrade paths for anything other than dragons, and most monsters only have 1 upgrade. I like using centaurs, so I was very disappointed to see there's no second upgrade for them. Also would it kill you to add a recolor of the existing upgrades for more options? For example a vampire that gives you better blood drain but has much worse stats, or a centaur with an extra attack range but worse accuracy. Really there should be 2 tier 3 units for every monster: One for if you intend to keep them rallied forever with a better rally skill, and one with no rally skill but much better stats. 6. The final boss is an insane power spike, atleast for dragon playthroughs. 7000 hp when the strongest thing you faced up until that point is 800? Like I beat him but I'm a crazy person. 7. The game lags like crazy on forest maps. Other than that I enjoyed the game a lot. It's very rare I finish a game and it's especially rare I finish a game within the first 3 days of it being released. 8/10 imo
I hate to leave a negative review, but man, they really screwed up the gameplay here. Story and Mission mode on their own would be _fine_ , if there was also a mode included that let you take any of the factions (IE all the options in mission mode) and play a sandbox campaign with them, without a time limit or specific win conditions. Story mode locks you out of attacking certain bases until you hit a story beat, which is meeeeehhhhhh, but geeze I can't recommend the game in it's current state. If we get a better/sandbox mode, then I could at least recommend it. Let alone the swapping the art style from Runersia, which had gorgeous 2d art, to this, and to top it off, the little cutscenes just don't seem like they animate at a proper number of frames per second, so it feels uncanny. There are some more challenging deployment locations on the map compared to Runersia, but I personally don't like sending all 3 of my groups in while having to leave one on the side as a sitting duck for no reason. Just, a lot of strange decisions. No mixing and matching classes either, which is... fine, but it's another random limitation for no good reason.
Before you buy this game, know that is very niche, is not FFT/Fire emblem. This is closer to a Nobunaga's ambition, there is a lot of decisions that can make or break your experience, such as a time limit to win a campaign. Is a low budget title, most likely better to wait for a sale if you are dipping your toes into brigandine. I don't think this game is deserving of all the negative reviews, they didn't kill Brigandine, is not Concord 3. The core loop of the series is still there, new takes, some losses. Even if for me this is more of a 7/10 is still good enough to recommend. Maybe play Runersea and then come back for more when is on sale.
i'm a big fan of brigandine, but this brigandine is not it. it's really lacking on many aspects, battle not engaging, monster kinda meh, unlocking 3rd class is hard. Everything is just weird
Some things not mentioned below in great detail factions dying immediately, enough said by other short clearly as shown in story mode some of those factions should be combined, not enough unit verity would like some more monsters. more monster paths and all monster should have stage 3 at least for this game, because its cast is smaller i think all monster should have had a stage 3. The game feels unfished with many aspects I do like the castle system i man like 50-50 with generic Rune knights, i do like how it is possible to get all factions rune knights even if random although in story mode you will not be able to because the main evil empire will take some at some point, ruining testing someone unless you do the mission mode. There clearly some thing unfished untranslated text but many maps feel not done and only when the enemy attacks you do you have to defended a point, you can't do this when attacking. No mode to use any faction and try to conquer whole map only mission mode can you do this and the only generic one is tried to the dragon guy demo army. The other unfished thing i noticed not sure if feature or not is no monster type rune knight will increase its command when ranking up. This makes all of monster Knights just worst versions compared to generics monsters at time their specials traits or skill don't make up for it. I do like the game but this feels unfinished, there is like 2 maybe 3 maps that allow you to use water units to max potential. One being the pirate one which if they are your main faction by like turn 10 your capital shouldn't be getting attacked so you'll never see it again. Another unfished is human rune knight you get from quests, well one the lumber jack female. You get she mentions wood cutter think she be ax knight, but no she is a Valkyrie and uses a spear because that's one of 2 female melee classes, the knight/paladin line wears so much armor you could say its either gender and be fine, but they clearly didn't make models for that which does lead to many of army leaders to be same model but purple, or blue. Now i know I'm asking for every class to look like sprite but i rather more generic models and let my imagination take it from there, also this is game on unreal so will give it slack and this just a more minor complaint and a more me thing. Positives like the new monster ice golem could be replaced by giant but like a way to stop heal spam, dragons and wyverns have combined much easier but do miss the drakes and hydra (hydra aren't dragons but miss them). The rally ability makes mages and healer have pixie at all time, and give a nice way to move units that are far away or in tight jam to save them, problem with it is the abilities are mostly just okay so you'll stick to 1 or 2 and keep them on those units forever vampires melee and pixies for mages/healers. The market, love this the ability to buy items after finding them once is amazing for quality of life. Like the skill lvling system great idea your unit does blank all the time they should get better at it hope it stays around, it also allows you do go for something when a unit reaches max lvl, the vampire rune knight was spaming his magic all time cause his meele was maxed, also feel like lvl 35 would be better max but this is also minor. Overall this game is solid 6or7/10 its good not amazing compared to other games and other games like it. I think it needs a free update for conquest mode and pick an army and go or a way to continue story mode after the story ends and finish the map. The game i can closes compare it to would be pokemon conquest where the true main portion of game isn't the story mode but the mission mode, although conquest you at least got to conquer the whole map before the mission mode started then get some post game fight. if they make a sequel soon using this it could be 7-9 with everything ironed out. know its not great most people will go and finish 1 story mode about 30hours on normal. the true game mode players want should have been an option I want to be positive for the future, but right now i can't suggest any one nee get abyss. get the demo is you like that you'll like this but Runersia has been out for a while and will be cheaper. get that
