I loved Brigador so this was a no brainer for me to buy and these are my thoughts so far. The Good: Visually the game looks great. The Music while not as great as the first game is still good and so are the sfx. The core feeling of the Atmosphere The aiming and shooting still have that certain something altough nowhere near as great as in Brigador. The bad: Story and lore are currently just the bare minimum without any sort of Payoff. Placeholders on the regular. The game inventory feels clunky. Level balance is all over the place with weird difficulty spikes that feels alot less thought out compared to brigador. Npc's have weird unsensical behaivor. The same kind of NPC can turn from harmless cant hit anything in front of them to mowing you down while you are running from farther away. The ugly: The wasted potential after all this time. The Blueballs I got after the opening of the Story.
It's really hard for me to recommend jumping into early access for this game. The demo had much more options in terms of building up an arsenal. While I do like that it's a bit harder to accrue some of the more powerful weapons and vehicles, there is also a lot missing as well. A lot of vehicle blueprint recipes present in the demo are absent here. I figured that if I disassembled a rad ball tread bike I found I would be able to reassemble it later, which I couldn't because there doesn't seem to be a way to gain new blueprints at the moment. So if you acquire a vehicle and disassemble it, if the crafting schematic isn't already present you will have only the components of your newfound claim. Even at the current end game of the EA campaign, you CAN find some of the larger weapons that can be mounted on vehicles, but none of the vehicles that you can obtain or craft can even fit them, except for maybe if you make the upgunned cannon sprat. Not recommending this until early access gets another update that makes it meatier than it's demo.

I've kept up with the development of the game since before the demo. Every build that I played, up until the most recent release, was an objective improvement on what came before. The early access release plays like an awkward, fan-made difficulty hack. Game progression is essentially linear, and progression is excruciatingly slow. You won't touch a vehicle for several hours, and you won't touch any of the mechs from the demo at all (outside of the tutorial), as they've been removed. The game isn't playing to its strengths at all. Powersuits, mechs, and vehicle combat have been sidelined in favor of "gritty" extraction-shooter gameplay, which doesn't feel that good to play in a game engine that was purpose-built for vehicle combat. If you enjoyed the demo, I wouldn't recommend the early access release today, and I'd recommend it less in the future. The direction the game is going in just isn't very fun.
Game breaking bugs throughout, confusing plot, poor gunplay. When I went to the official discord for help, the only advice the Devs could give me was to skip the broken levels with Console Commands.
I really enjoyed the story content that's been added with this, and I have confidence the game will be good when it's finished. I don't mind throwing rocks and using semi-auto .22s, I actually really like it and think it's a good starting point for the campaign, and I'm interested in the narrative. I just find it unreasonable that the free demo has more satisfying freeplay than the paid product. If there were more story missions, I'd probably be willing to forgive this, but there's only a bit more than an hour's worth of gameplay from the properly written levels. It just feels like the demo offers a more engaging experience over the paid product and that's very frustrating as a buyer. Time will probably fix this, but it isn't a great deal right now.
I'm kinda surprised at all the negative reviews this is getting. Not entirely sure why but I can only assume it is due to the difficulty spike from the demo (it was far easier) and people getting turned off by the fact they're not rolling through the levels at the same speed they were. Honestly, this is a decent start. It's early access, so anyone going in expecting a completely polished game is deluding themselves. Furthermore, it is not Brigador, yes there are big stompy robots and vehicle combat, but you have to earn it. This game is what it says on the tin: insurgent simulator. You're alone, you do not have regular lines of supplies, everything is either crated, stolen or procured through back channel means. It means that planning logistics and supply runs are a part of the game. You may need to backtrack to gather resources. You may need to far a bit to scavenge enough ♥♥♥♥ to challenge later levels. You are definitely going to want to horde muiltiple versions of the equipment you like so that you can recover quickly after an unfortunate death causes you to lose your kit. Is this a difficult game, sure. It isn't a "power fantasy" you're going against the odds and you're going to be extremely outnumbered. As I said, this isn't "Brigador" where you're strapped into some of the scariest machinery on the planet, you're just some dude with a gun up against a bunch of ohter dudes with probably slightly better guns. If you think you're going to kill everything in sight then you're going to be frustrated quickly. For those of you who do take the time to learn how to play the game you'll find that this is an engaging and well thought out game that rewards both moment to moment and long term planning and decision making. The combat is responsive, the enemies react organically to your actions: if you overwhelm them with fire they'll retreat, if you retreat they'll close in for the kill. If you're static they'll try to flank or rush you. You'll have to pick your fights and ground carefully based on what equipment you have and they have. Is this going to be a game for everyone, probably not. But I think a lot of people who are leaving negative reviews are suffering from sour grapes.
A message to Stellar Jockeys, I don't care about your reason for taking out the other Rigs is because of Balance and I don't give a damn about what ever excuse you have about the Tanks and Mechs not being in right now. You set the Standards with the Demo you gave us Public Access which was very fun and you completely ignored those Standards. Also, WHY IS THE WILDERNESS MISSION A RAIN COAT CAMP NOW INSTEAD OF A LIGHT SECURITY ARMORY WITH A FEW POLICE APC UNITS!?
it's a lie,bro,don't get it,what you play in demo,you can't play here
I cant remember when i last played a more frustrating game.... UI looks horrendous, controls are really bad and you can't tell whats happening on screen because everything is dark and looks the same. I will return this for now. I really wanted to like it...
Not advised at this state, difficulty is unjust, UI is wonky.
