Very fun and unique for a rogue-like great job
This game is like a fusion between Breakout and Peglin & it works really well! The overall style (f.e. the game map & the fight overview) feels heavily inspired by Peglin. The game also runs like a charm on the Steam Deck! These kind of games just work especially well on handhelds. Imo, Brick Odyssey would've probably drawn more attention if the art style would've gotten special attention by an artist (like Peglin has it's very own appealing graphical style). A cool, unique soundtrack with seperate tracks for each level in the game would've also helped give this game it's own feel. That aside, the gameplay loop is quite addicting. The Breakout/Peglin combo works really well! It also definitely feels like you're more in control of how far you're going to get in the game compared to Peglin, because of the paddle you are in full control of. Conclusion: It's a very nice game made by only 1 dev (who also regularly updates the game and listens to feedback). While it could've been better on the visual and audio fronts, Brick Odyssey is still a recommend, because of it's addicting gameplay formula. No 1 run feels the same, thanks to the roguelite style. You could get a lot of hours out of this, which makes it worth the asking price.
Have played for a few hours and love it so far, brings elements of Slay the Spire into a brick breaking game in a great way. Might feel a little bit easy at the start but the difficulty ups each time you win so after a few wins now it's becoming a real challenge. Lot of fun!
