This game is a great 8 out of 10 for the first half, then plummets to a 2 out of 10 for the second half. If you cut out chapters 5-8 and spread the few good bits from them (Ringabel's story in Chapter 6, the whole background story with Airy, the last job, and a handful of the later boss fights) throughout chapters 1-4, this game would be a classic. Instead, I don't know that I can honestly recommend it to anyone. It's so deeply repetitive in the latter half, and feels like hours and hours of padding in the worst way. If you play this, I recommend playing chapters 1-4, then watching videos of the good story bits from chapter 6 and the ending. But really, just don't. There's better games to spend your time and money on.

I originally played this on the 3DS and bought the remake on the PC. You don't need to worry about the lack of StreetPass, as the PC version replaces that feature with "passing souls" to gather for rebuilding your village. The characters in this game are amazing, and there is a lot you can learn about them just by reading the optional party chats. The combat is truly one of a kind with the unique "Brave and Default" system. There are tons of distinct jobs you can equip to your characters, and thankfully, your base stats don't radically change or punish you for switching between them. I would consider this game to be highly similar to Final Fantasy III, just a much better, modernized version of it. Please release Bravely Second on PC next, my wallet is ready.

Soid 9/10 for the first four chapters, the following four chapters make the entire game not worth playing. 30-40% of your playtime will be doing boring boss gauntlets whilst you replay the main story for the following 4 chapters (One replay a chapter :) ) with thankfully interesting story advancements. Has a great job system. The game itself kills itself with boring repetitiveness and 5 phase bosses that will make you happy the game is over, not happy to play it. After 50 hours, I'm just burnt out and I'm glad its over. Not worth the time or money for the story.

I very much enjoyed this game as it was basically an old school style, but with up to date polish on it. I love all the jobs and I certainly plan to play the other one on Steam. Classic JRPG feel here. However, having said that the last chapters of the game kind of drag out, but nothing I couldn't handle and it doesn't tarnish the overall experience. A note on the added minigames for this version: They are designed by a sadist and I'd like to find this person and kick them in the nutsack. I would rather be tortured than play those minigames.

An exceptional turn based JRPG, if a little on the easy side at times, and a great spiritual successor to Final Fantasy V (which is the best game in the series). If I had one major criticism for the game it would be that the post battle bonuses system sucks. In short: You get bonuses to money, experience, and job progression based on whether you killed all enemies simultaneously, finished the fight in 1 turn, or took 0 damage. The problem is that these bonuses are based on streaks, and if a random encounter with a single enemy spawns, or an enemy gets a first strike against you, you can randomly get screwed out of up to ten battles worth of bonuses despite otherwise clearing the fight perfectly. At its worst, this can make grinding for money and JP somewhat miserable. That this is my biggest complaint about the game should speak for itself. It's an amazing game and I have to nitpick this hard to find an issue. Buy it if you like turn based JRPGs.

One of the best JRPGs ever and the one that made me like turn-based games.
