Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.22/day in the week to Aug 4 → 2.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I played the PSP version of this game and had more fun. I don't like the decisions made in this version I don't get why have a level cap. So what if I'm overleveled? Why limit me? And the fact I can only use 4 spells too. What kind of decisions are these? I wasn't having fun at all. And from other reviews I just learned that this gets worse in postgame where the level cap just gets ridiculous. Like previously mentioned. Playing the PSP VERSION was far better than this. And this game isn't cheap in BRAZIL! Mind you. I wasted money and played 15 hours of this. I wouldn't recommend.
I have no idea where I got 48 hours first of all, But I have hundreds of hours on the original and I only got a few chapters into this version. It's not bad, but it's made for players who just want to experience the story. There is some challenge, but its the challenge of hitting par on a put-put course rather than building a deck in a card game, either you perform well enough to assasinate the leader or you rewind and try again. The ability to specialize and build units to specializations is gone to make it so that every unit lands every attack every time. To make this work they made several of the stats do nothing and also dramatically lowered stat giving tarot cards drop rates while also buffing health pools so everyone doesn't die instantly as a result. They also removed the ability to cross train in separate classes and use skills from those classes in addition to cutting down the max number of skills a character can learn from 10 to 4. I don't know why you would simplify a strategy game but they did

The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 26: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I LOVED Tactics Ogre in its original form, but this "reborn" version is an absolute abomination. They completely changed the game in so many ways that make it objectively worse. First of all, rather than battles being about strategy and tactics, now a big component of them are these stupid little buff cards that randomly appear all over the map between like every character's turn. They clutter the map up with visual garbage. You have to end your turn on top of them to get a buff that lasts until the end of the battle. This means you either ignore them and play normally and they are just a pointless addition that makes the game look worse because stupid spinning cards are everywhere, or you actively try to grab them to buff your units which makes fights drag out and last longer despite the buffs because you often have to move OUT of optimal positions or AWAY from enemies and out of range to do anything just to grab the stupid cards. Awful design decision, shouldn't exist. Second, they completely gutted all unit customization and training. In the old versions you could acquire points to unlock various abilities to make your class stronger. In this new version though, they just give it all to you for free based on your class level. The problem is, they also gimped the hell out of your units by restricting them to only being able to use 4 abilities and 4 spells at once. So even if you have access to multiple schools of magic, too damn bad, you have to choose what 4 spells to equip and thats all you get. Absolutely horrendous redesign that is also pointless and stupid. The abilities are the same way, you gradually unlock all these various perks but can only equip four of them and it just feels bad because so much of it is integral to the class even functioning. For example, there's an ability all the magic classes get that restores MP, so it's an automatic pick. You don't get to make a decision there, it's just automatic. And if you want your spells to hit, you also need to take the perk that increases accuracy. You see where i'm going with this? Your core functionality is gated behind some of these abilities, and the rest never get slotted because they aren't as good or too situational to ever use. You want resistance to a status effect? Welp, too bad, because your class won't work properly if you equip that perk instead of the optimal ones. The old version didn't have this issue because you could unlock all of it, and in whatever order you wanted. YOu had actual choices, actual freedom. Now they simplified it and dumbed it down and simultaneously made you weaker and worse feeling to play. Third, there are now level caps gated by story progression. So in the original, you could just play through without grinding without issues, but if you ran into a fight you struggled with you could level up a little more to make it a little easier. I don't especially mind that part as much, but what makes it truly awful is the previous point about all ability unlocks being tied to your level. That means you can't unlock certain abilities and such until MUCH later in the story because it's all gated behind your level, which is now gated behind story progression. The original version didn't have this problem, you could just spend points on any ability you wanted. I honestly don't know what these people were thinking when they made all these changes. They completely changed the game into something that may "look" the same before you actually play it, but then you quickly realize it's a zombie of the game you used to love that is now thoroughly dead. They turned the whole game into what could basically be a free to play mobile phone auto battler because that is what the gameplay is now: you just turn on auto battle because you no longer have any meaningful decisions to make anymore. You no longer decide what spell to use, because you only have 4 anyway so you just use whatever is most optimal, and the auto battler function will just do that, even if it's dumb about picking targets. I honestly think this is why they dumbed everything down... It's like they wanted to cater specifically to the auto battler phone game playstyle where you only half play the game and just let the game play itself so it had to be simple so they didn't spend more than an afternoon making the AI for it. I cannot express how disappointed I am. I loved the original, and this s just a cruel mockery of it that is as different in gameplay as the Final Fantasy 7 remake is from its original gameplay, except literally every single decision they made here is objectively worse and less fun. Unless you like simple auto battlers. Then to package this 30 year old game for sale at $50 with "features" that make you not play it, and if you do play it, it is less fun than the 30 year old version... The people responsible should be ashamed of themselves.
This was probably one of my favorite games back in the day. But the level cap wrecks the experience for me. I was hoping to have a polished version of the original, this is not that. They added a feature no one asked for, that compleatly breaks the flow of the original. I really wish I could give "disappointed " as a recommendation. As is stands, it would be fun if it was its own game, however it's not. It is a stark reminder that you can never go back. *Quick aside, if the devs read this, I would begrudgingly buy a Dlc that removes the level cap. And a formal apology would also be Rad as well.*
Let me preface this review by saying that Tactis Ogre is one of the grandfathers of modern-day tactical RPGs and if you are playing Reborn to see the early days of the genre, you should definitely buy it. However, if you are looking for a game that feels and plays like a modern tactical RPG you will not find that here. TO:R is not a remake, its a remaster. This means that the majority of the gameplay is very similar to the original release. There are definitely a handful of quality of life changes of course, but by no means are you getting a game that will compete with modern-day tac RPGs. There are many mechanics that just feel unusued, the enemy AI is dismal, the original developers idea of a challenging fight is not one that demands a high level of strategy, but one in which the enemy you are fighting is so blatantly overpowered that it feels unbeatable (looking at you,
Dorgalua
), and, worst of all (in my opinion) is the inclusion of RNG in the gameplay. When I think of a strategy-based or tactile RPG, I think of a game in which your brainpower is the determining factor in your fights. However, the developers of Tactics Ogre thought it a good idea to make many of the passive abilities different classes can wield RNG-based. This means that on any given turn you are crossing your fingers and hoping that the abilities proc. While your passive abilities will not necessarily swing a battle in your favor, it still boggles my mind that a game that aims to be strategy-oriented includes gameplay mechanics that emphasize RNG. This removes your ability to control fights with your brainpower, which I feel to be completely contrary to what a tactical RPG should be. The story, however, is the shining part of the game. I found the characters compelling, the choices interesting, and the plotline gripping. It is what kept me going for the ~100 hours I put into the game (as well as my desire to see the history of the genre). TL;DR: If you are looking for a well-crafted tactical RPG experience that competes with modern options, you won't get that with Tactics Ogre: Reborn. However, if you are looking to explore the history of the tac RPG genre and compare [modernized] early representations of the concept to what we call a tac RPG today, I think it's worth trying.
They removed multiclassing, specifically the ability to transfer skills from one class to another by leveling in it. You can't create class combos, like warriors with rampart aura, and casters are very one-dimensional now. This is strictly a downgrade from the PS Vita version of Tactics Ogre. Speaking of old TO, there's a mod called "One Vision" by Raic that adds a bunch of quality-of-life and nice things to Tactics Ogre. Just go play that instead, don't spend money on this crap.
oh yeah okay so like it's a really good game, but they changed a bunch of mechanics and classes and whatnot. So if you like the older versions for character building and class swapping, ehhhhh maybe do some research before you buy this. I tried the PSP version, I'ma be real with you, I prefer this version. They basically cut out grinding by introducing a level cap, and the skills and magic are a lot more limited too which I'm not mad about. They made the moment to moment gameplay more engaging, and they cut out the ♥♥♥♥ that wastes your time. Truly I do prefer this version, but I also feel like they shoulda just remastered the PSP version and sold us a new entry with these mechanics instead. But here we are. And I'm not mad about it. Your mileage may vary. 50 bucks is asking too much, should be 30 tops. Get it on sale. Coulda used a better speed up feature though, 2x speed is just not enough after a while
WOW... So disappointed... My first experience with this game was the version for ps1. I also played the SNES rom translation and the PSP version. My all time favorite TRPG. Here is my main issue with TACTICS OGRE REBORN. They limit everything like your amount of equip-able spells UNION leveling. They basically took the PSP version and made it worse. If this developer wants to help save this game and stop being hated on for adding his own vision to a classic and butchering it they could add the original version in the opening menu or a way to shut off union leveling from the start of the game. The player should have access to play the PS1 version from the main menu or something... I get that with this version there is no new game plus no death counter you die instantly and if you don't resurrect them they are gone for good. I have tried to like this version in hopes i could just use auto battle to unlock the release of union levels via the end game content. But its a true up hill battle. I don't understand what the developer was thinking with this limited leveling system. Character growth and choices actually mattering is what makes an RPG if you limit the growth you just have a tactics game not a tactical RPG like the game is ment to be. If the players want to buy a strictly tactics game they wouldn't pick one of the most legendary tactical RPGs in history to get that experience. Its sad cause 90 percent of the people who bought this game remember it and got something so much different than any version they remember. Don't buy this game get a refund while you still can. Don't be like me and try to like it knowing your not getting what you were hoping for. Worst remake of any game I have ever player on steam.
Negative review for level cap. It makes no sense. If i want to lvl to make sure i can win, let me do that. Just dumb.
