Brain Hotel: Remodeled

This is an updated version of an old flash adventure game. Besides new graphics and a couple of items on new places, the game has exactly the same solutions like the original version. You are Ed, a regular person who drives a delivery truck for business. His once-happy marriage was shattered when his wife fled with their dog. That occurred when the dog encountered an anomaly and developed the ability to walk on two legs. The unpleasant reality is that Ed lives in a highly exceptional town full with superheroes and villains. The story begins with a delivery to the Brain Hotel. There is a villain convention, so your first challenge is finding the correct room. Once there, you discover that the delivery contains a weapon that one supervillain intends to use to destroy the entire hotel. You can not let that happen, therefore you’re told to find a few supplies for a helpful robot to make a counter-weapon. This is an old-school adventure game, which means that moving a mouse over a hotspot does not offer you the most appropriate action. There is also no magical button that will disclose all available hotspots. To perform an action, you must first choose one of the six options (look, open, talk, and so on) and then tap the hotspot. This is a small game that may be completed in a single sitting. Despite the fact that there are several items and hotspots, you don’t get to explore a lot of locations. There is merely the lobby, your room, and the pool area. You will not receive any hints, but item combinations and solutions should not be tough.

So I actually did play the original one back in like 2006-2007 along with the two Nick Bounty Games. There are a few changes to the game (especially the inventory. You have to do a few different things than you did in the original game) and I like them. From the added details and lore to the changes in the items that just make you have to use your head, I would definitely classify this as a 'remodeled' version of the game. And for the most part, this game still remains loyal to the original. Sure, Impo doesn't have that same creepy-ish smile to him but he is still just as silly and loveable and his new look definitely suits his person.

Another great game from Pinhead Games! I didn't play the first one, so I can't speak to the changes. What I can say is that if you like point and click games and have a couple of hours to yourself this is the way to go. One of my favorite things about Pinhead's games is the writing. It's consistently clever and funny, it makes me smiley and happy to play. The voice actors do a great job too, and this time they snagged Adam Harrington (The Wolf Among Us and much more) as the main character Ed Arnold, and he does it very well. I definitely recommend this game!

It's good in terms of gameplay but it lacks that charm the original had. I can't really reccomend this version tbh. I would reccomend the original version however and you can buy it for a dollar off itch.io and still support pinhead games.

loved this game very short loved the puzzles and the atmosphere

Pros - Basic enough graphics but the cell shading comic book style is nice. - Decent voice acting - Good dialog, plenty of humor. - Pretty good puzzle design, trickier than I expected. - Interesting world full of quirky characters, I'd like to see more of this universe with a bigger scope and budget. Cons - Every time you get off the elevator your character is stuck in a walk animation for a few seconds. Its very minor but just gets irritating after several times. - The verb table ads quite a lot of extra permutations, every time I was stuck it was down to not using the correct verb. It probably added at least an hour to my play time. Overall its a solid point and click and good value for the price. Recommended.

it has some dated jokes since it's a remake of an adventure game from 2004 but I think it's a fun short game and would recommend it to other looking for a point-and-click adventure that can be played in one or two nights

The original Brain Hotel was the first Pinhead Games flash game I played back on their site over 13 or more years ago. I was excited to see it was getting a remake and really kick myself for never hearing about it's Kickstarter last year so I could pledge. That being said, I'd recommend this but with a heavy asterisk: "This game is essentially like the original. Save for a new NPC, some new voicelines and a puzzle or two that have been altered; you'll be doing the same stuff as the older flash game." Some oddities: Some VO is recycled from the original while others are redubbed. This is a bit more miss than hit. Ed's new VO sounds alright for doing some more extended lines here and there so I get why they recast him but why Impo? His new voice sounds like the dude did everything in one take compared to the different inflections the VO from the original did. Not to mention, it still uses his old voice for the elevator exit gags. Why not just use the old lines? There's nothing new that would call for a redub as far as I can tell. There's also no graphical settings you can tweak unless there's a launcher in the game dir. Had to play the game in like 640x480 fullscreened or something. I'd recommend this if you liked the original, want to support the creators of the original and can't be assed to find a way to play the old flash version.
