actually this dream did die
SWERY's underrated gem. Just like Deadly Premonition, It's a game that is unique, weird, and wonderful. It's a shame it was a Xbox exclusive that had very little marketing and sold so poorly to point Season 2 of D4 was canceled leaving this game's interesting narrative on a cliffhanger. A very good cliffhanger at that. Deadly Premonition 2 does manage to provide a little closure to D4's narrative and it's a sad one at that. D4 deserved a better fate than this. Screw you Microsoft.

we've entered 2026 and I keep thinking about this game. "that's it?" were my last words. and to think if my tv never randomly selected that youtube video about this game i would have never purchased. it. may my best 15 euros spent rest in my library forever

Guys, do you know Firefly? Neat science-fiction TV series from early 2000? It was cool, one of the best pieces of imaginative fiction ever created. Unfortunately was canceled only after one season, due to corporate meddling, greed and incompetence, later haphazardly finished with a stand-alone movie. Not even petitions from fans could save the project. Why am I writing this here? Because D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die it’s a Firefly of a video games. Great piece of interactive storytelling MURDERED by corporate greed, real life director’s problems and Microsoft idiotic behaviour. Created by SWEARY65, the guy behind Deadly Premonition games, D4 was one of those games that is so unique that you cannot forget about it long after you stop playing. Imagine a game in the style of Walking Dead or The Wolf Among Us, but on steroids, oozling with style, unique characters, insane plot, and cool, so much cool… But it is pointless now. The game is unfinished. It has only a prologue and two chapters. It ends on a cliffhanger. And it will never be finished. We will never know what happened in the story. Since the release of this game 10 years have passed. SWEARY himself stated that he is not interested in continuing, even when he could get right to the game. So now we can only weep and dream about reality, where both Firefly and D4 had proper closure. But hey, I replayed this only to get 100% achievements, so instead of writing about the game, I will say a word or two about the ones that pissed me off the most. Master Interrogator (for doing every side dialogue option) — this one is semi-bugged. If you start an episode from the chapter selection screen and miss EVEN ONE dialogue with the NPC, the progress of said chapter will reset to zero. So better if you do all chapters normally. Hard Worker (for collection 100k credits) — oh yes, I love it, grinding. In the story oriented, point and click adventure game that you can complete in 4 hours max. I beat the game three times to unlock almost all others achievements and still got only 70k credits. I was forced to play this stupid clover touch minigame to grab the last 30k. Like, why am I doing this to myself? Why do I waste time from my life just to collect virtual badges? Master Record Collector (for getting 20 music records) — this one is the worst. You can buy 19 tracks normally in Amanda’s shop. 20th is available only as a random drop in box you can get every in real life hour. Yes, you read this correctly. THERE IS A GATCHA MECHANIC IN SINGLE. PLAYER. ADVENTURE. GAME. And I'm going to repeat myself — you got one box with loot (like food, drinks, clothes inside) for every IN REAL LIFE hour. No game hour, IRL hour. So you cannot pause the game and wait, you need to play it regularly. The only good news is that there are only 20 boxes. Thank God alt+tab working. I left the main character standing in his house and: cleaned my room, watched some movie, grabbed a pizza, watched a few yt videos, played different games… and guess what? I got the last music record In the NINTH BOX. It was around 3:30 AM when I got it. And I bet this was a SWEARY idea. Him, Suda 51, Shinji Mikami and Hideo Kojima are four horsemen of dickishness in video games. Now. It's over. Go home or something.
PEAK CINEMA tbh Way too good to be this short!
The most complete game ever.
