It is a really fun pick up and play. If you enjoy stories, this is amazing, it has a decent story, it just kind of shoves it down your throat and won't let it go. It feels like every mission is something to add to the story but kind of just doesn't. The art and gameplay are fun, giving almost a comic book feel, it just doesn't let that aspect of itself shine enough.
Only just finished chapter 2 and i've got a short list of first impressions. The Good: Games got a consistant art style that fits well with the theme. It has Mechs. Buying required items from the crafting menu is a god send. Mech combat feels the right amount of clunk while still feeling good. Soft aim snapping, feels good but not too hand holdy. Voice acting, really good, like someone went out and found people who knew how to actually voice act. The Neutral: Yeehaw Banjo Music, this really isn't my thing and i'm not a fan of being forced to listen to it at home base, just give me a mute/turn off button that doesnt kill all music. Pacing, the game feels like it skips too much too fast and doesn't even give you a chance to warm up in the mech before it's all over. The Player model, something about clem have massive flipper style eyelashes throws me off everytime. The Bad: Intro cutscenes doesn't support ultra-ultra wide, black bars cover names and some names are off screen. Voices in cutscenes are inconsistent, prologue was normal but after the intro cutscene it got noticably louder. Movement when on foot feels strange, probably because clem can't turn on the spot. No jump button? somehow feels bad/robotic while on foot. Too much whole screen yellow flashing, too close together, start cooking? flash, finish cooking? flash, sit down at computer? flash, quick chat finishes? flash, This is a rather serious one because it hurts my eyes and brain causing me to stop playing after only an hour. Overall i think it's got something worth a chance, it's got style, the bones are good and i hope the devs can take everything learnt from this and put it forward into either another game or an improvement on this one.
The idea is good, but game feels old, like a game from 2005 or so, it seams working as intended, but combat is boring.
[Bounty Star] Score: 7/10 [PRO'S]: -Good protagonist who is well written and voice acted -Good Npc and enemy designs -Good voice acting and fully voice acted -Good western environments -Good western music and jukebox soundtracks -Good gameplay that consists of completing low bounties "Side quests" and high bounties "Main Quests" to make money and salvage materials with each bounties having it's own set of sub goals for extra cash if you complete them, along with various loot chests hidden through each bounty map -Has a mech that you can customize with lots of different weapons, both melee and gun and various parts that will give your mech different passive abilities and also it's color and various other things as they become unlocked as you play and meet new Npcs -Good combat that is mainly mech combat in three different environments morning, noon and night each having their own temperature that effects your mech as your mech will need to stay cool to stay functional, weapons can both be hot or cold which makes what you use during what time strategic -Has a workshop, which is your homebase, that you can upgrade over time to give you different benefits such crafting fuel and ammo so you don't have to pay for it after missions, growing food of which the watering can later be automated, keeping chickens for selling or eggs, juke box for music and cooking which give you passive bonuses next time your on a bounty quest -Tons of lore you can collect that gives information on the state of the world, enemies, factions, tutorials and guides etc. [Neutral's]: No Score Change From These -Not the biggest fan of the protagonists design, skin too pale for being out in the west, overly bulky -Story is fine, your typical old western redemption / vengeance story [CON'S]: -Beginning of the game is a bit too slow paced, game becomes more fun once you hit the mid game and you have more unlocked -Some animations are bit too stiff which can make some cutscenes a bit awkward -Can't use water in the environment, such as rivers and waterfalls to cool down your mech, being in the shade or a cave doesn't cool down your mech either -No way to know what gender chicken your gonna get before buying -Game balancing isn't the best, some weapons and attachments are way stronger than others and some are just too weak to realistically use [SUMMARY]: Overall Bounty Star is a nice little Western Mech game, it's not the best mech game out there but for it's low price it's not bad and if your someone who likes mech games or western games you will probably like this game just fine, but as always, It's.. Up.. To.. You and i'll leave it at that. (^_−).
Its pretty clucky
Neat little Mech game with a nice touch of story, arcady combat, light sim elements, Mech customization. Cutscenes are plenty but can be cancelled with the appropriate button (i.e. hold Button "B" on my Controller). On Sale it is a steal and not on Sale you have to like that genre - i recommend it aynway! PS: Such a game in the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe would be awesome!
This a really fun, short cowboy mech game. While the tutorial is really long (basically up until chapter 4), it is worth it to experience the story and combat (which is janky fun)!
Great game but, needs a difficulty settings. Some of us are not 12 yrs old. : )
