Great puzzle game that makes use of VR for its space, dimensions, and controllers (unlike some puzzlers that would work 2d on screen and have just dropped you down there for VR's sake). The music and overall ambience is relaxed, making this a nice end-of-a-long-day kind of game. The controls and feel of the puzzles is great, though I'm not a huge fan of the trigger for teleport. I'm not sure if I'd pay the full $27 dollars for this, but it was certainly worth it at its summer sale price of $8.
This simulation provides a great introduction to physics concepts. Players need to create a Rube Goldberg type of contraption to maneuver a virtual marble to a target. Users experiment with angles, slope, and speed to complete the challenge. My middle school students were discussing momentum and distance, completely oblivious to the fact that they were demonstrating their understanding of content because they were so intent on working together to get to the next level. This series of levels makes this an easy game to use with a large group and helps users build on prior knowledge to achieve success.
Bounce is a perfect example of how VR can be used to create new and entertaining experiences in three dimensions. The premise is simple, get a cute ball from one end of an obstacle course to the other using a limited set of pieces and a limited number of attempts at trial and error along the way. What sets Bounce apart from a lot of tepid VR puzzlers is that it takes full advantage of all three dimensions. The ball usually starts in the ceiling, and you have a limited amount of momentum to get it quite some distance to a target that could also be up in the ceiling, or behind numerous baffles, or only after finding a way to get through several hoops between start and finish. Bounce earns distinction not only for the puzzles, but its soundtrack as well. The audio is enjoyable (except for the sad, sad sound of D1G-B hitting a bulkhead - and even that's amusing). The graphics are up to snuff and the game looks polished and professional. If I have a disappointment with the game, it's that it doesn't tell you what "par" is for each course. Figuring out that style doesn't matter (in the first go-round) only the number of times you test your pathway for D1G-B was both mildly frustrating and a minor let down. All in all, if you enjoy puzzle games, Bounce is a great one to buy.
Bounce....this game is ADDICITING as hell. Honestly I bought it because I wanted to play more Portal and this was the closest thing I could find for puzzles. This game is great and you actually have to use your brain a bit to get the ball from point A to point B. Try it out you won't be let down!
Developed and published by Steel Wool Studios, Bounce is a virtual reality puzzle adventure that demonstrates how immersive technology can transform straightforward gameplay ideas into something engaging and memorable. Designed specifically for VR platforms with motion controls, the game centers on guiding a lively robotic sphere named D1G-B through a futuristic spacecraft packed with environmental hazards, mechanical obstacles, and increasingly sophisticated puzzles. Instead of relying on combat or exploration alone, Bounce focuses on physics-driven problem solving, encouraging players to think creatively while making full use of VR's interactive capabilities. The core gameplay revolves around manipulating a collection of gadgets that influence the movement of D1G-B. Each level presents a self-contained challenge where players must safely escort the robot from its starting point to the exit portal. Along the way, lasers, moving platforms, gravity fields, dangerous gaps, and other obstacles require thoughtful planning rather than quick reflexes. The available tools, including ramps, trampolines, beams, launch devices, and other interactive equipment, can be freely positioned to create custom paths. Because each gadget behaves according to the game's consistent physics system, experimentation becomes both enjoyable and rewarding. Success often comes from observing how different tools interact instead of simply following an obvious solution. One of the game's greatest strengths is how naturally it integrates VR interaction into every puzzle. Players physically pick up, rotate, and place objects with motion controls, creating a level of immersion that traditional controls would struggle to replicate. This tactile approach makes every solved puzzle feel earned, as players are actively constructing solutions with their own hands rather than selecting options from a menu. Watching D1G-B bounce across a carefully assembled sequence of ramps and accelerators provides a satisfying payoff that highlights the creativity behind the game's design. Bounce gradually expands its mechanics across fifty handcrafted stages, introducing new ideas at a comfortable pace before combining them into more demanding challenges. Early puzzles serve as tutorials that teach the purpose of individual gadgets, while later levels expect players to combine multiple mechanics and carefully plan each move. The increasing complexity creates a rewarding learning curve, although some of the advanced puzzles can require multiple attempts before the correct strategy becomes clear. Fortunately, failures rarely feel arbitrary because every unsuccessful run provides useful information that helps refine future attempts. Replayability is another notable aspect of the experience. Beyond simply completing each level, players are encouraged to earn higher ratings by solving puzzles as efficiently as possible. This scoring system motivates experimentation with alternative strategies and more elegant solutions, giving experienced players additional reasons to revisit previously completed stages. Achievement support further rewards dedicated players who enjoy mastering every aspect of the game's mechanics rather than rushing through the campaign once. Visually, Bounce embraces a colorful science-fiction style that perfectly suits its playful atmosphere. The environments are clean and easy to read, ensuring that important interactive objects remain visible even as puzzles become more elaborate. Bright visual effects, polished animations, and expressive robotic characters give the world personality without overwhelming the player. D1G-B itself is surprisingly charming despite its simple design, while the robotic supervisors inject light humor into the adventure and help maintain an upbeat tone throughout the campaign. The sound design complements the gameplay with crisp mechanical effects and a pleasant futuristic soundtrack that reinforces the setting without becoming distracting. Every bounce, gadget activation, and environmental interaction delivers clear audio feedback, making it easier to understand how each tool affects the puzzle. Combined with the immersive presentation of virtual reality, these audio elements strengthen the sense of presence inside the game's high-tech world. While Bounce delivers a polished puzzle experience, it is primarily aimed at players who enjoy thoughtful challenges over fast-paced action. Those looking for deep storytelling or extensive character development may find the narrative relatively light, as the emphasis remains firmly on environmental puzzles and physics experimentation. Likewise, the later stages can become surprisingly demanding, requiring patience and repeated trial and error before reaching a successful solution. However, these challenges ultimately contribute to the game's sense of accomplishment rather than diminishing it. Overall, Bounce is an inventive VR puzzle game that makes excellent use of motion controls and physics-based gameplay to create an experience that feels both engaging and satisfying. Steel Wool Studios successfully balances accessibility with steadily increasing complexity, ensuring that new players can learn the mechanics while experienced puzzle fans still find meaningful challenges later in the campaign. Its imaginative level design, enjoyable interaction system, and rewarding progression make it a worthwhile addition to any virtual reality library for players who appreciate clever puzzle-solving and hands-on gameplay. Rating: 8/10
Great game all around. The graphics are amazing. Sometimes I just sit and stare through the windows for a while. The levels are pretty intense and take some time to work through. I love the lightbulb moment when I figure it out. I also love the music. My only complaint is that in some levels, the physics seem inconsistent. It could just be me, but sometimes doing the exact same things without any outside influence (like gravity zones or moving objects) produces different trajectories. It could be some part of the mechanics of the game I don't understand, and it doesn't happen in many levels, but it does happen occasionally. Regardless, I'd recommend this game to anyone.
Pretty awesome puzzle game with great use of VR and the contollers
This is my favorite puzzle game in VR thus far, very polished, lots of content, and great longevity.
This reminds me of The Incredible Machine but in 3D room-scale. You move a ball from one spot to another using a limited number of planks, conveyor belts, pipes, fans, trampolines, etc. Even a tiny change in angle of one item changes everything. It's awesome.
Initial review which will be updated after more playtime (but in the meantime, this game needs to be seen by more people!): This game is great. It's one of those puzzle games where you got to get your little guy to some end goal by building a track with various properties. What's great about this in VR is you can really get a feel for the 3D configuration that you're building and can watch from wherever you want. I look forward to playing around with this one some more!
