Got to Eye of Helios and kept dying. Feels like Borderlands 2 in somewhat of a degree.

It's Borderlands for Borderlands fans. You will find the most pop culture references of any Borderlands, dialog that doesn't take itself seriously and gameplay that still feels terrible for the first ~30 hours. TPS emulates its older sister Borderlands 2... the good and the bad. Going through the game, you can't shake the feeling that neither you nor Jack have really accomplished anything. I feels like like Elpis is some sort of purgatory; all the action and fun characters are down on Pandora. Yes, it's cool to see the origin of [spoiler]constructors[/spoiler] from Borderlands 2, but we don't even get to see how [spoiler]Hyperion station ended up on the moon[/spoiler]. It's Borderlands for Borderlands fans, and a lot of the game is only cool if you've played Borderlands 2. I found the side quests to be really fun. They are full of pop culture references from Dr. Who, Star Wars, Pokemon, and even a Family Guy reference. It's awesome to see. The gameplay also suffers from the same problems as Borderlands 2. It does get fun, but only after ~30 hours of gameplay. Weapons earlygame feel terrible, and it takes way too long for characters' abilities to really "come online", which really hurts the gameplay. Lategame it does eventually become fun, once abilities and passives synergize to produce interesting builds. Unfortunately, unlike Borderlands 2, the lategame content just isn't there. Also, you paradoxically end up only using named weapons and equipment instead of advertised "87 bazillion" guns, which calls into question the whole idea of a looter shooter. I did still enjoy Borderlands: TPS. I thought the side quests were fun, and it was fun to see the pop culture references. I liked the gameplay once it stopped being boring. I liked the Borderlands 2's story, so it was cool seeing the origin of so many things. But it's Borderlands for Borderlands fans, for better or for worse.

first, i think if i remember correctly, this game was okay received when it first came out, and i can see why. of all the games, this one is the least tansformative offering les changes or inovation with the game. it kind of feels like borderlands 2 but a little more refined. that being said, i had a blast with this, it was something new and different, and even if it didn't try anything huge it was a lot of fun. i wouldn't have thought that an 'explore a character's backstory' idea would have been fun or good, but luckly it was well written to making it fun to play as on of jack's lackies as you see him turn into the man that h ended up being in 2. thee gameplay is pretty much borderland 2 but with some..... improvements i think? i just came off of 2 and i can't really say there was much in terms of like things feeling different or anything. when i first played this i didn't really think laser weapons were mor than a gimmick, so i decided to play using mainly them in this new playthrough and they are actually a super fun weapon type. not being bound to a single type of weapon but sort of modular meaning that you can have one in any playstyle, based on what features you are looking for. there is also low gravity/oxygen you have to worry about now, which can b a little annoying but it is fine, since it gives you a 'double' jump and speed boost to get around a little faster as well as giving you a ground pound. uh, i think graphically... the game might be a little cleaner and nicer to look at that 2 is, and it's not saying that 2 is bad in any sense, it just feels like everything is a little more refined. the areas look fun and some are amazing, as well as there being a nice variety of areas and visuals to go around and see, which is nice being stuck on a big grey planet. like i said with the story. it is a recount of one of the characters in the squad to help jack, in the moments before he became handsome. it is fun to have new vault hunters to play with, with their own styles again, as well as dlc characters letting you play as jack's body double, or hammerlock's sister, i believe, if memory from 3 serves ight. the game has really great humor and i love getting aussie jokes. it's something different that isn't normal for borderlands so that keeps it fresh from the rest of the series. i'd think just like BL2 this one also has a lot of great music to it as well. i'd say if you liked borderlands and have never played this one, it is nice and i would recommend trying it out. it is definitly shorter than the first 2 games because it only really has on dlc area which is exploring inside cl4p-tp to try to get something for jack. and at first it might sound stupid to do a whole dlc based on a trashcan but i was actually really fun, and funny. as well as giving you access to glitched weapons which have a chance to change to a random firing mode.
