Borderlands Game of the Year Enhanced

borderlands 1 is better than I thought it would be honestly, the main thing that stands out is the fair but fun difficulty and the more grim theme than other entries, also the guns actually shooting straight is a nice touch too.

Don't expect anything life-changing. It's a good way to turn off your brain and gets hours of entertainment for pennies on the dollar. I might have a skill issue, but I felt the level estimations for levels were a bit high.

Enhanced version is a buggy mess, runs well for a little while then stutters mad crazy. The regular version is much more stable

I can definitely respect what Borderlands did for the looter-shooter genre, and I understand why people loved it when it first came out. But playing it today for the first time was a rough experience. The atmosphere and art style are still great, but almost everything else feels dated. The gunplay lacks impact, many missions are repetitive, enemies are bullet sponges, and there’s a lot of running back and forth. Even with the Enhanced Edition’s visual improvements, the gameplay itself hasn’t aged very well. I don’t think it’s a bad game—it was clearly influential and laid the groundwork for Borderlands 2, which improved on almost every aspect. But if you’re coming in as a new player in 2026, don’t expect it to feel modern just because it’s the Enhanced Edition. I’m glad I experienced it for the series’ history, but it’s not a game I’d replay.

This game is as fun a time as it was to play the original back when it first came out. No regrets buying it again, this time for PC.

first time playing. gotta admit, I really like it

If you are here for the action, it's still got it. The gameplay is grindy, but will satisfy the loot goblin inside of you. The car controls are ass, the fast travel is sporadic and doesn't help the tedium of carrying out the countless fetch quests. The DLCs are a wasteful slog. Not bad if you feel nostalgic for the linear FPS games.
