was cute, nice music
It's a great quick exploration focused puzzle platformer.
this is literally the creepiest game i have ever played
it good
I don't know quite what I expected going into Blueberry Garden but it certainly wasn't this. It's a very brief, very charming little platformer that you could probably consider an art game. It drops you into the world with nothing to go off of and some vaguely defined mechanics, but they're not too hard to figure out on your own, and while I'd love to elaborate on them I think this game becomes much more effective if you go in blind. $4.99 might be a little much for how little the game actually offers, but if you're the kind of guy like me who enjoys picking up these really old, really unique indies and finds value just from that novelty, then this is definitely one to pick up.
Unique and interesting
Blueberry Garden is a 2D platformer where you control a strange bird-man in an esoteric, dystopian hand drawn MS-Paint tier 2D world. As well as normal jumping, you can fly, as well as pick up and move objects. The overall game intent is to provide an esoteric experience rather than focusing on proper narrative or engaging gameplay, so the game lacks these basic fundamentals. The hand drawn art is reasonable, but overall this isn't much of a game. 2D platforming is an old, dead genre. The use of hand drawn art instead of richer, contemporary PC graphics is problematic (I thought the guy had a huge weird beard for a while until I realised it's supposed to be a beak). It's also aging badly. There's no support for 1080P or proper widescreen formats, let alone UHD.
The worst game to ever win the Seumas McNally Grand Prize at the IGF.
Cute little game with a relaxing ambience. I'd recommend it for people who enjoy more conceptual games, and maybe see about getting it at a discount.
