Blood Bowl 2: Legendary Edition (Classic)

It's not football, it's Blood Bowl.

A bit of a niche game, with the subject of Warhammer's Fantasy setting and American Football, but the game is fun and easy to play with a decent tutorial, graphics are solid, and the audio tracks and story is pretty entertaining. If you're a fantasy fan, Warhammer fan, or sports fan, I would definitely recommend giving this game a try.

[h1]If you want Blood Bowl, you probably want this one[/h1] If you don't know what Blood Bowl is though, or how to play it? Well... The game does a poor job of explaining it to you. It's adapted from the d6 based board game of the same name, which can leave some things opaque if you're not familiar with how the game works already. Combine that with a rather poor tutorial, and you end up with people complaining it's 'all RNG' or 'X team can't do anything!' Treat it less like a strategy game, and more like a board game. Make a plan, but do what you can to leverage every possible edge to do so. The campaign mode isn't nearly as fun as the league one, as the campaign is more 'win every match' and the League one more about the story of building up a team that you make on your own, which is much more in the spirit of Blood Bowl. Taking a team from nothing to the top, probably over the dead bodies of a few of your own players. That means that sometimes when you're facing down a match that you don't think you can win, you focus on protecting your players, getting them XP, and maybe seeing if the dice throw you a bone. Though this review is more written for folks who never played the original tabletop version. Which unfortunately means I have to suggest reading the Blood Bowl rules. The official guide link in the game doesn't work so good anymore, but thankfully it's pretty easy to find the rules if you want them.
