I wanted to like this game, but unfortunaly I couldn't get into it and here's why. 1. The voice acting in this game killed it for me; especially since there is no idication on the store page about voice acting in this game to begin with. It completely killed the mood that the game wanted you to feel and ended up being more laughable than anything. --Not so much a complaint, but a warning. The voice acting is also not in English in case that's a deal breaker for you. This is not a deal breaker for me as I have played several games where the spoken dialogue is in other languages. Again, there is no indication at all that there's spoken dialogue in this game. 2. Quite honestly the biggest deal breaker for me; everything kills you. Look, I get it, it's an RPG Maker horror game, it's commonplace to be killed by a lot of things, but this game takes it way too far by killing you in ways that don't even make sense. For example, a seemingly random corpse on the ground in the
village
, among many other corpses on the ground (which don't kill you by the way) for some reason kills you with zero indication as to why. It constantly feels like you have to save, lest you lose your progress for some asinine reason. And every time you die, you get to hear reason 1. 3. The story is mediocre at best, but the pacing is atrocious. The game throws you right into the "horror" with absolutely no buildup whatsoever, thus losing an abundance of atmosphere. Admittedly, I did not play the game through to its entirety, so I can't say for certain if the story improves. What I do know is that you
start in a jail where everyone is dead and there is random messages written in blood everywhere
and the game does not tell you why you are there in the first place. But now time for some positives, can't leave a bad review without saying some of the redeeming qualities now can I? 1. The game looks good. Apart from the
random messages written in blood
, the game is aesthetically pleasing. The maps are detailed and well built and the spritework is pretty good. 2. Plays like a typical RPG Maker horror game. No funky control schemes or gimmicks, just plain old RPG Maker horror gameplay.
Pros + + + + - game not short (7 hours) - easy controls (mouse or keyboard) - horror without jumpscares - characters original - most places are detailed Cons - - - - - too much walking (no teleportation) - i found 3 puzzle very hard for me (others are good) - spelling mistakes - the floor filled with words i suggest to buy in sale
I enjoyed the look and feel of the game, a great horror experience. I have been streaming my game play and my viewers worked together on the puzzles which was fun and truly entertaining. I learned quick to make sure to save every chance I got because there are suprise moments that will leave you wishing you had. I look forward to seeing what this developer comes up with in the future!
Bleeding Knife Well first thing I have to say for this game is; SAVE EVERYWHERE Everytime I turned around I was killed off for something as simple as even opening a Door. RIP The Voice Acting threw me off heavily because we had Text that would accompany it. Good Overall soundtrack, but felt like the difficulty was too amped up with little to no instructions. Story was really hard for me to follow but it was enjoyable when I could. I hate to be the negative but this game was hard to drudge through. I loved the visuals though and the music really made up for it but after the 20th death I found it really hard to enjoy. Great Unique concept though, it was nice to change the pace from the standard turned base RPGs after a bit of polishing this game could turn into a slam dunk.
Finally!!! I managed to finsih the game with 89 saves it was creepy and the the puzzeles took my mind amazing work dear advice to who playes this game make sure to save before acting anything or you will regret XD overall, it was very intresting and I like it it gives the feeling and the excitment to continue and to know what will happen next I like the graphics alot, totaly amazing the game, oh God I don't know what to say it is a challenge and I managed to survive keep the good work and hope to see and play great game similar to this in future all the best dear
Pros: -The voice acting. It's bad but in an endearing way.
Like there's a part where the monster is chasing you and it's supposed to be growling-but honest to god it just sounds like a grown man meowing at you.
-Art is good -backgrounds are intersting enough -The plot is interesting enough to keep you entertained -I actually liked the characters well enough Cons: -the end?? Like i have no idea if i got the wrong end or something but its
pretty much just a cliff hanger that never gets resolved.
Who knows. Maybe he's planning a sequel or something -So. Much. Walking. Abdulla, my guy, you do not need to use that many paths. Especially if you're going to have the player use the entire map the whole game -Some of the puzzles were infuriating -I know everyone has mentioned this before but the writing on the ground is corny as hell In conclusion: For a first game its pretty good. if you have four bucks to spare and enough energy to slog through the tedious parts (*coughcough* walking *coughcough*), then go for it.
Bleeding Knife is a retro pixel JRPG with a vague horror theme and terrible voice acting. The graphics are awful, the gameplay terrible. There's no fullscreen mode. I can't find any possible reason to recommend this to anyone.
👍
Amazing game with beautiful art. I love the details of each scene. The story is really interesting! The puzzles are tough and fun. I really recommend this game. It's just entertaining to play.
