Played more of this on my Switch (particularly the Metafight Chronicle version with voice acting) and I have to say - this is, in my opinion, the best Blaster Master game bar none. Even though I feel like Zero 3's got better combat, Zero 2 just feels amazing to play for me (leaps and bounds above any of the other Blaster Master games before it in terms of movement and combat) and the map design is fantastic. The only things that might be a turn-off are the difficulty (much more challenging than Zero 1 but still on the easier side and area maps still spoil the dungeon layouts) and the fact that the game uses a world map to travel between planets and planetoids instead of having interconnected areas like most of the other games (even then, the areas themselves have a ton of room for exploration).
Игра Супер!
A welcome improvement over the first game with entirely new levels, more active mechanics, a more epic scope with a killer endning, and some solid hidden bosses. though sadly the game is still way too easy with the i frame dodge you get early on basically allowing you to dash through all enemy attacks. Ontop of jason's main attack still being OP and the player still having an anti gun downgrade sheild which means you rarely wont be maxxed out.
Would I recommend this? Hells yeah! The good: * Story progression that is going to make anime fans very, very happy. * Amazing new music, the tunes are just amazing. * graphics are peak SNES era, beautiful backgrounds, amazing vistas, really good animations * New parry system adds another layer to the gameplay * New energy system adds another layer as well The bad: * People will tinnitus will likely want to want to turn off Stranga's soundtrack. For some reason, SOMEONE thought it would be good to ruin the soundtrack there by adding a SIREN to it. Seriously, don't add sirens to music unless you're making a 90s arena rave song and even then, keep it moderate. * Save points are sometimes so far between that you end up repeating a ton of content * Some game mechanics remain unexplained and cause frustration, if you find yourself going "Why is this stupidly hard?" or "Wow, I've been everywhere and have no idea where to go next", please consult your local search engine. * Offscreen enemies can attack you, but you can't attack them. That's blatantly unfair. * Parry mechanic is horrible until you can an AoE parry, then it becomes stupidly cool. The conclusion: This is a solid game. Kid me would have called it the sequel of the year, and honestly, had I played this when it came out, I'd agreed with kid me. This is superb. That's not to say it doesn't have a bit of jank here and there, but as I've outlined above, a short google session will set you straight. That being said, if you're not used to parry mechanics in games, you'll find this quite challenging. Buuut, practice makes perfect. On a special note, this game has definitely given me a lot of emotions while playing it. Anger, discovery, frustration, intrigue, pure QQ crying, hatred and amazement. This game has some moments which I've only had in the past. I honestly didn't think games were capable of this kind of depth anymore. Also: For those of you who play it based on this review: She.has.melons. Wow.

Old school game
