**Black Desert Online Review** Black Desert Online is one of those games that is very easy to admire, very easy to get addicted to, and very easy to criticize. It does a lot of things better than almost any other MMORPG, but it also comes with systems that can feel overwhelming, grind-heavy, and sometimes frustrating. The first thing that stands out is the combat. BDO has some of the best action combat in the MMO genre. Every class feels fast, flashy, and responsive, with combos that actually make you feel involved instead of just standing still pressing cooldowns. The animations, effects, and class identity are excellent, and learning a class properly can be genuinely satisfying. If you enjoy grinding mobs, improving your rotation, and slowly becoming more efficient, the combat loop can be very fun. The world is also beautiful. Even years after release, Black Desert still looks impressive. The environments, cities, oceans, weather, lighting, and character models all give the game a strong visual identity. The character creator is still one of the best around, and the amount of detail you can put into your character is honestly ridiculous, because apparently even in fantasy worlds we need perfect jawlines and expensive outfits. Another major strength is the amount of content. There is a huge world to explore and many different systems to engage with: grinding, lifeskilling, fishing, trading, bartering, sailing, workers, nodes, bosses, horses, enhancement, housing, knowledge, journals, and more. The game gives you many long-term goals, and if you enjoy progression, planning, and slowly building an account over time, BDO can keep you busy for thousands of hours. The lifeskill system is one of the better parts of the game. Fishing, gathering, cooking, alchemy, training, sailing, and bartering all give the game more depth than just killing monsters forever. It is nice to have different ways to progress depending on your mood. Some days you grind. Some days you fish. Some days you stare at spreadsheets and pretend that optimizing workers is a normal human activity. The game has also improved a lot over time. New players now receive much better rewards, catch-up gear, seasonal servers, free items, and more guidance compared to the older version of the game. Pearl Abyss has made many quality-of-life improvements, and the game is much more accessible than it used to be. That said, BDO is definitely not perfect. The biggest negative is that the game can be extremely overwhelming. There are too many systems thrown at new players, and it is not always clear what matters, what is outdated, and what is actually worth doing. You can spend hours reading guides before even understanding what your next real goal should be. The game has depth, but sometimes that depth feels like being pushed into the ocean with a calculator. Progression is also very grind-heavy. This is not a casual MMO where you reach endgame quickly and relax. BDO is built around long-term progression, silver farming, gear upgrades, materials, enhancement, and repeated activities. Some people will love that. Others will burn out quickly. The grind can be satisfying, but it can also become repetitive, especially if you feel forced into the most efficient silver-per-hour spots. The enhancement system is another major issue. It can be exciting, but it can also be punishing and stressful. Failing upgrades, using failstacks, protecting items, cron stones, downgrades, and huge silver losses can make progression feel brutal. Buying gear from the marketplace is often safer, but that also means more grinding. Either way, the game asks for a lot of time, patience, or both. The cash shop is also something that should be mentioned. BDO is not as aggressively pay-to-win as some people make it sound, but it absolutely has pay-for-convenience elements. Pets, weight, inventory space, outfits, value packs, maids, tents, and other items can make the game feel much smoother. You can play without spending much, but the game is clearly designed to make convenience tempting. Shocking development: the company selling digital costumes would like money. PvP is another mixed point. Large-scale PvP, node wars, and open-world fights can be exciting, but balance is not always great, and gear differences can be very noticeable. New or casual players may feel like they have no real chance against veteran players with far better gear and experience. If you are mainly a PvE or lifeskill player, this may not matter much, but it is still part of the game’s identity. The story and questing are also not the strongest part of the experience. There is a lot of lore and worldbuilding, but the presentation can feel messy, and many players will probably skip through dialogue just to unlock systems and rewards. The game shines much more in combat, progression, and sandbox systems than in traditional MMO storytelling. Overall, Black Desert Online is a beautiful, deep, addictive, and sometimes exhausting MMORPG. It is one of the best games in the genre if you enjoy action combat, long-term progression, lifeskilling, grinding, sailing, and building your account over time. But it is also complicated, grindy, heavily system-based, and full of monetized convenience. I recommend it if you want an MMO that can become a long-term hobby rather than a short game you finish in a week. Just be prepared to learn a lot, grind a lot, fail a lot, and occasionally question why a virtual accessory costs more than your dignity. **Pros:** * Excellent action combat * Beautiful graphics and world design * Huge amount of content * Deep lifeskill and sandbox systems * Great character creator * Strong long-term progression * Much better new-player experience than before **Cons:** * Very overwhelming for new players * Heavy grind * Punishing enhancement system * Cash shop has many convenience advantages * PvP can feel unbalanced * Story and questing are not the main strength * Progression can feel repetitive over time **Final Verdict: Recommended, but mainly for players who enjoy long-term grind, deep systems, and setting their own goals.**
This game used to have a great support team. Unfortunately they migrated servers back around Thu, Jan 28, 2021. In this process they did not transfer all account data without an email confirmation being responded to that i missed, and my old account got deleted. upon reaching out to their support team, they stated that they were unable to help, and unable to provide any form of compensation for the hundreds of dollars USD i had spent on the game previously.
One of the worst new player experiences of any game I've ever come across. There are way too many menus, UI elements, currencies all thrown at you with nothing explained in the slightest. After 6 hours I am not even interacting with skills or skill points even though I apparently have 300. My right click ranged attack instantly one shots enemies a few levels above me so there doesn't seem to be a point in using my spells at all? I was already disappointed with the game and then it happened. A quest marker pathed my horse into deep water (while using automatic quest navigation), my horse dies, and I get to experience the worst swimming physics of any game ever created. After finally finding a place to get back on to land after around 5 minutes, I logged out and uninstalled the game. I was already heading that direction, but that pushed it over the edge. To recap, the UI is a complete sh*tshow with nothing explained. After watching a content creator for the game go over it he stated "most of it is useless clutter that nobody uses." I've gained 45 levels, I have over 300 talent points and the only thing I seem to be able to do with them is spend about 3% of them leveling a passive that increases cast speed for spells I'm not using because simply spamming an instant cast right click ranged attack is faster clearing speed. The movement, ladder climbing, swimming, is some of the clunkiest hot garbage of not just any MMO, any game period. Fix your new player experience, fix your complete trashcan of a UI, fix the insane restrictions on inventory without explaining where to sell things, what to keep, where to store things. I literally spent probably 20% of my time throwing away items I had no clue if I should keep or not just because my quests wouldn't complete due to inventory space.
This game sucks but its the only MMO slop that looks (graphically) like it was made in the last 20 years and isn't a subscription service so 8/10
Bana bu oyun güzel dediler. Yükledim, Yürüdüm ve at sürdüm etrafa baktım. Görev yaptım sıkıldım sildim. bu oyunu 17-30 bin saat oynamış insanlar tanıyorum aq
