Set approximately 10 years after the events of the original BioShock, the halls of Rapture once again echo with sins of the past. Along the Atlantic coastline, a monster has been snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city of Rapture.

A very enjoyable experience but not without its flaws. The big gimmick of BioShock 2 is that you get to play as a big daddy, and by the end of the game you certainly feel like one! Weapons are sort of beefier versions of those from the first game, you fight stronger enemies to even out the balance between being powerful and still being challenged, the sound design for your character is revamped to make the feeling even more believable, and the game features segments where you have to defend little sisters when they harvest ADAM. The game just about perfectly fulfills that power fantasy. However, it's not without its flaws. The story is perfectly serviceable and even has some memorable highlights, but it is largely inferior to the first games'. Lamb just isn't as compelling a villain as Ryan when he's very similar to the kind of maniacs who run industry in the real world. The philosophy of Anarcho-Capitalism feels like a much more real threat when compared to Lamb's radical collectivism. Levels also had a bit of a downgrade, though only slightly. Sound design for certain elements such as enemies is buggy or unpolished at times, with enemies often sounding like they're right on top of you when they're in the next room. During those previously mentioned little sister defence segments, enemies also spawn in seemingly impossibly locations instead of plausible ones, so trap laying tends to be a bit of waste. It's also worth noting that this is not the best port. Controls (especially for UI elements) are a bit janky, the FOV is incredibly low, and the game is very unstable. You can fix those up by remapping some controls, editing command lines when the game starts, and adjusting some of the game files respectively. Though that's a lot of extra work and even then the problems still persist mildly. All that said, I still strongly recommend that you play BioShock 2 if you're at all a fan of the first game.
Игра хороша, но не рекомендую из-за вылетов игры которые никак не исправляются. (ОСОБЕННО В ФИНАЛЕ)
The game is fun if you are a fan of the Bio-shock series. I would have liked the background to be a little less dreary and monotonically depressing. And "harvesting" the little girls is stomach-turning. But it's a solid first-person shooter game.
Better than sex.
Sin mayores pretenciones Bioshock 2 es una secuela que agrega poca cosa y mas, no tiene perdida jugarlo, a veces esta tan barato que parece regalado.
game crashes after 2 minitues could not find fix
Amazing game. Story is great. Movement is great. Visuals are great. Everything is great.
Best
Even though this game has been sitting on my wishlist and backlog for what feels like 20 years, I finally decided to play it during the summer of 2026. I'm really glad I did. Being able to use plasmids and weapons at the same time is such a great improvement over the first game. It makes combat feel much smoother, more dynamic, and simply more fun. The story is solid, and as a father, I found it much easier to connect with the role of a Big Daddy. That emotional perspective made several moments hit much harder than I expected. BioShock 2 may not get as much praise as the original, but it's absolutely worth playing. Better late than never.
