Sengoku Dynasty has improved with time, but still need a little more. The gameflow is as follows: A player encounters a refugee and engages in a conversation. All refugees have specializations. A choice is made if the refugee is suitable to join the village. If refugee joins: The refugee is assigned a bed, and a position of work. otherwise, the refugee is ignored. Refugees have up to eight needs to be met which unlock based on population. If needs are not met, villagers will leave. At times, enemy raiders will attack your village generally in 2 - 3 waves of four raiders. The player and guards will defend the village until either your village stores are robbed (or bell is destroyed) or the village successfully defends. Rinse and Repeat until you get tired of the game. In order to make a village: First, a bell is placed. Second, a house is built. Third, a general storage is built. From there, recipes are unlocked based on region liberation, which occurs through meeting two kinds of conditions: Special Construction Projects (build bridges, lighthouses, watchtowers, etc) Elimination of Leaders and a certain amount of their men. ------------------------- The problem with the gameflow: Each day, there a resource count in which resources are withdrawn from storage to meet the needs of the villagers. This is followed by a work-count, meaning resources added to the storage based on work produced by your villagers. Currently, Meat, Rice, and Clay are completely consumed and not added to your resource pool. If you produce 1000 Rice per day, the villagers will consume all of it preventing you from having them create and eat Rice-containing recipes. Due to this, Sake cannot be made unless the player completely does this task alone. The same is true with Meat and Clay. The villagers will consume it all preventing recipes that are dependent on them from being used. The game is good, but until this is figured out, the player will always need to have a Water Field to plant rice and do that himself, along with maintaining a personal supply of Meat, Rice, and Clay. The other thing is that there is no endgame. Once the player liberates all the regions and has everything built, that is considered a win and the player might as well start over with tougher conditions. This is a game where the player determines when he or she has had enough and can rationalize victory or defeat. I love this game and I recommend it. However, there are still things that need to be worked upon. Good game so far. Finally, The setting of this game is very cruel and violent. The game does not sugar-coat this. You have been warned. Your enemies will drown in their own blood and it will be animated and graphic.
Add adjustable path sizes Add hangable lanterns to built walls Allow building placement on top of villagers by teleporting them away Add destroy all to connected buildings i.e paths, walls Highlight what's obstructing buildings during placement Fix enemies not attacking in co-op Increase ambient lighting on all light sources Allow repairing items at any point below 100%
as much as I enjoy this game, there's a few things that make the experience a bit less enjoyable 1 - health regens too slow (I have to sit and wait between enemies and work on something else while my health returns.) if health items didn't expire, this wouldn't be too bad. 2 - combat is a little clunky at times (the best experience I have had with a weapon is the naginata) some weapons just don't work how you think they would and the block/parry mechanic just doesn't really work. 3 - seasons by default are incredibly short, 7 days would be a nice default but 4 days is a bit too fast (especially with how frequent bandit attacks can get even with small settlements) 4 - the compass bar at the top is a tad bit useless when everything is cluttered together and all the same colors 5 - the ui for each village should be separate instead of everything being all together. I haven't seen a way to set the screen to show one village at a time to let me properly organize it. (I do appreciate that the materials are shared across each village that is a really nice feature) 6 - certain menus / mechanics are a bit finicky to figure out (fast travel requiring specific levels and need to happen AT those places rather than across the map, the hammer ui is a tiny bit cluttered and the block / parrying is clunky to figure out) 7 - personal taste but the game would be awesome if ai art wasn't used (I can't 100% confirm but when I looked into it, people have noted that it more than likely is which is a shame as the actual scenery in the game is lovely) the game in general is honestly a really nice way to pass time, I'm enjoying the story and the mechanics are fairly nice as well. the game scratches an itch I've had that other games haven't gotten close to and overall it's not a terrible game to pick up especially on sale. I do look forward to seeing how the game progresses and hope that some of these things are fixed in the future <3
Ran absolutely horribly for me. Even on lowest graphics it stuttered like crazy. People will say "oh, just go change this setting or disable this or that on your computer" but no, a game shouldn't require that to run smoothly. Tutorial is just text boxes with a novel of text that pop up without pausing the game. This isn't ideal when the game is as complicated as it is. The dynasty system is a great idea but so tedious to work out. Villagers need food? Assign jobs for them to get food. Oh, but there's no food so nobody wants to do their job!
I want to like this game, but it falls way short. Play Medieval Dynasty instead. I got frustrated at the fact you can't rename your fast travel points, and how much work it is to place people where they belong. Whether it's in a job, or a place to sleep. The plus is the combat. Better than the other dynasty game, but that is kind of a low bar to be honest.
Performance on any setting was pretty terrible. There was tons of stuttering and massive input lag that made for a really nauseating experience.
The game is fun when playing in coop! The devs have been constantly updating the game adding new content (new mechanics included), still polishing the basics with tins of QoL improvements. Though there is still a long way to go but I hope that they will continue!
This is a great game. I've really been quite enjoying it. It has some elements of Medieval Dynasty but enough variation to tell its a different game. You can build a ton of different things. Decorate up the wazoo. Everything you find in game you can also learn to craft. For the combat being an afterthought after players asked for it, its done pretty well. I love the mechanic of taking over territory yet still being able to build anywhere. The map is very well done. Having differences in biomes but still keeping along the same theme is very immersive. The weather and lighting are very pleasing. Color pallet isn't overdone or exaggerated. A couple frustrating elements however. Micromanaging your settlements once they start to grow big is a pain. Every season you need to go through and reassign jobs in quite a few of the stations. There is fast travel but only from one marker to another. If you're in the middle of the wilderness there are no mounts to speed up your travels, just your feet. Neither of those things shouldn't sway you from playing, just a note if the devs read these.
I can't stop playing this game
Although this game has its problems (such as optimization), generally I came for a feudal Japan city builder and I got exactly what i wanted. 4/5 stars
