I had a fantastic time with BIOMUTANT. The open world is absolutely huge, and there is always something to discover. Every area lists the loot and collectibles you still need to find, which makes it perfect for anyone who loves completing everything. There are so many side quests too, and most of them are well worth doing for the extra gear and rewards. The combat is one of the most fun parts of the game. You are constantly jumping around, dodging, shooting, and using melee attacks. Interestingly, I found ranged enemies were often easiest to take down with melee weapons, while melee enemies were safer to deal with from range. For the longest time my best weapon was the Boomarang, which stayed useful far longer than I expected. It is also worth putting points into luck because it really helps increase critical damage for ranged weapons. There are loads of cool mounts in the game, with one of the strangest and funniest being a giant hand with a finger gun. Later in the game fast travel becomes absolutely essential because the map is so large. The morality system is also a nice touch. You can play as light, dark, or mix the two, and it changes some of the conversations and interactions you have. I tried my best to stay on the light side. Resistances are hugely important as well. If you want to explore dangerous areas, like toxic zones, you need the right resistance. For example, getting 100% poison resistance lets you run around poison areas without any issues. The Automaton is with you for most of the game and becomes incredibly useful once you unlock things like health regeneration, the flashlight, glider, and turret. There are also plenty of rotation puzzles throughout the game which are enjoyable without becoming frustrating. The graphics are very nice, but the voice narration is what really makes the game stand out and keeps you engaged. I also loved the made-up names for old-world items that have been lost to time. The main story about the Tree of Life feels surprisingly relevant too, almost like a modern warning about what could happen if we do not change our habits. Overall, I was very happy with the ending and had a great time with the game from start to finish. It is a brilliant choice for anyone who enjoys exploration, side quests, character building, and open-world adventure.

Well... the open world looks amazing. After that it just falls apart. Even starting the game is annoying. Too much to click through or stop cutscenes to even start it. I will say they had a lot of good ideas but also just way too many. They could have narrowed things down and had more focus. Combat felt ok, but isn't really exciting. Music and sound effects are bland. Questing was kinda miserable. Reminded me of a mmo... talk to this guy, they ask you to grab 5 things, return to guy. There's a bug for controller where on the map the cursor won't move. You fix it by capping your fps. I don't know about the story, once you get to the open world it doesn't make sense. I also couldn't tell how my choices mattered... seemed like everyone just agreed with me. Same for the dark and light mechanic for the story... just why? The worst was how they dealt with narration. Whenever you talk to someone you have to listen to it in their language... THEN the narrator tells you what they said. It makes short instructions take forever. It's not the worst game in the world... some of its ok. I can see people liking it. I was just confused by the entire experience. Who is this game for? Not me 4/10.

My god, what literal garbage. FORTY (40!) bucks for this. No thanks. Don't waste your time. 70 minutes in and I've spent more time looking at text screens that teach me stuff that is absolutely irrelevant right now. And I've been skipping most skippable cutscenes by now, because they're oh so bad and boring. I picked the "dark route", hoping that would be more entertaining, but eh, it doesn't matter, the game literally plays exactly the same way, only instead of eradicating a tribe you unite them, but you still have to beat them first ... so, no relevance for gameplay. Or not much. Also, my tribe specifically WANTS the 4 big bad bosses to eat the World Tree, yet you're supposed to beat them anyway, because reasons ... this is just a flavor choice, not a gameplay choice. On to why I really don't like Biomutant, though: it's the combat. And since the combat is 99.99% of the game, well, that sucks. It's supremely floaty, lacks impact, enemies are spongy already at the beginning, and it's only gonna get worse, since there are enemy levels involved. So, at some point you're gonna have to grind, I suppose. Basically, melee combat feels super bad, while ranged combat also doesn't feel good, but at least let's you actually put in damage into bigger enemies you can't just stunlock or "parry". The parry is wonky anyway. The game has dozens of menues to navigate. There are, I believe, FOUR different level up screens, several item and crafting screens ... everything just looks like it's some sort of mobile gacha game. The graphics are ♥♥♥♥♥, the characters look like ♥♥♥♥, the story is pointless, and the dialogue is entirely skippable and you won't even miss anything. Even the sound design is atrocious. No, Biomutant deserves to be one of the forgotten games of ancient history. Absolutely not worth anyone's time.
All budget goes to the graphics. Gameplay is so unfinished. Horrible Animations and Sound Design.
