Beyond: Two Souls

没让我失望，虽然操作有点难受

Having played Detroit: Become Human (DBH), I was looking forward to experiencing the story and player choices in this game. I wasn't left completely disappointed as the game does have its moments, but it does lack in a lot of areas. I won't go into the story too much. I liked it overall, but it has segments which I think are silly. I chose to play through the story in the original non-chronological order which I thought was fine, but I think playing it chronologically would have been a better experience. Not because playing it non-chronologically was confusing, but because set pieces for the story are way more noticeable which makes plot-twists less interesting. My main gripe with the game is that I felt like the player options being presented were very obvious in which ones were supposed to be good and bad. Very few of the choices felt hard like hard decisions to make. Compare that to DBH where the choices didn't feel good or bad, but instead more grey with real weight to them which also created a lot of hard to make decisions. I wish Beyond: Two Souls would've had more of that. There are also some technical issues with the game. I used a PS5 controller through out my playthrough, which worked almost flawlessly. However a handful of QTEs involving motion-controls just didn't seem to work. The framerate also differs somewhat through out the game. Some cutscenes are just presented with lower framerate, as if they were pre-rendered. This issue also goes for some animations/particle effects. If you're looking for an interactive movie-like game, have already played DBH and can forgive some minor jank, then this might be for you. The game isn't bad. If you're interested in getting it, you should. Just make sure to get it on sale as I don't think the full price is worth the value you would be getting.

Really amazing story and gameplay is very simple but fun. Controls are a little wonky but it is a semi old game so what do you expect. This is just a good movie but you get to play as the characters.
