A arte é charmosa e vibrante, complementando a jogabilidade leve e divertida. Conclusão: Vale a Pena Jogar?
Right, so here's the bloody situation. Imagine you've been promised a Ferrari, and instead, you get a rusty tricycle with one wheel missing and a puncture. That's this game's digital implementation for you. Let's start with the positives - and I mean positive in the most microscopic sense possible. At least in this digital version, you can see your score throughout the game. Unlike the physical board game, which was about as transparent as British government spending, this app actually lets you know how monumentally you're failing in real-time. What a breakthrough! Now, onto the absolute car crash of a user interface. It's like they hired a design team comprised entirely of drunk badgers with severe myopia. The textures are so blurry, I'd have a clearer view after smearing Vaseline on my glasses. Tooltips? More like 'tiny-tips' - you'd need the eyesight of a hawk and the patience of a saint to decipher these microscopic instructions. And the interactions! Three clicks to place a tile? Three? I've had smoother experiences trying to assemble IKEA furniture during an earthquake. Compare this to "Through the Ages" digital version, which apparently understands that users have, I don't know, Fingers and preferences for interaction. Look, I'll give credit where it's due. The physical game? Brilliant. This digital version? It's about as user-friendly as a hedgehog in a balloon factory. Will I buy it? Maybe. But only if they promise to rebuild the entire interface using something more sophisticated than a child's Etch A Sketch.
---------------------------------- I played this game "alone" and I say that in quotes because I didn't play online, but in reality you literally can't play alone and that's one of the problems with the game. The rules are simple to understand, but what I found ridiculous is that you are forced to play with an AI partner and they can literally change your moves or place a room before you can place the one you wanted, for me it completely breaks the point. of the game, which is already very simple, practically tedious.
The game is boring alone and has a long learning curve to get some friends to play with.
A very bad implementation of a beloved board game of mine. No save for the local games. Fixed shortcuts. Too limited customization. No player card so you can understand what you're gonna get if you get 3 of a type. Blurry images without any reason. It's not even worth 2.15€ that I've payed for it so I asked for a refund. I own the board game and that one is way more fun than this digital version.
Between Two Castles (of Mad King Ludwig) is adapted from a board game I've never played. You build two castles with room tiles and try to place them in ways that give you the most points. You play alongside an AI teammate who also puts down tiles. You can sometimes set each other up for better scoring combinations. In each round you pick two tiles and put one in each castle. Only your lowest-scoring castle counts toward your final score at the end though. You can play against AI or in multiplayer (if you can find someone to play, that is). The tutorial could use some work since it's pretty basic and doesn't explain everything you need to know. It's not hard to figure out, but I was constantly confused about how the scoring worked. The game also never explains why you can't put certain tiles in specific places. There were some small glitches like text skipping, but at least the art style looks good and the room tiles are bright and clear. The game works fine overall. It's not super polished, but it's decent enough for a few rounds if you want a puzzle strategy game. I probably won't play it again since it felt pretty average. Since it was free and didn't crash on me though, I'll give it a positive review.
Although this is one of my favorite games on the table, this implementation doesn't really allow you to play the game well at all. If you play with the AIs, they will either force you to agree with them or the computer will randomly choose. That defeats the entire point of the game to actually place things where they score the most points (or at least discuss things with your partner). If I could make all the decisions for my castle, I would love this. As it is, the game is not worth paying for (and they haven't updated the game since 2020, so not likely to be fixed).
