Developer has abandoned the game, wouldn't recommend. There are bugs that can softlock you sometimes or lose progress.
I really wanted to like Pawn Planet, because it feels like it could have been so much better. There are a lot of ideas here that sound great on paper, but in practice they feel undercooked or just not worth engaging with. For example, missions feel pretty useless overall, and the crafting system doesn’t really bring anything meaningful to the table. The cost in materials rarely feels justified for what you get out of it. Same goes for the different auction planets; they all end up feeling the same, which kills a lot of the excitement early on. Even the repair quests from the salaryman in the parking lot aren’t really worth doing. One of the most frustrating parts is the repair system. Having to wait a full in-game day every time you repair an item gets old fast. If you're trying to stock your shop with only “Awesome” condition items, you’ll often end up with an almost empty store because it just takes too long to build a decent inventory. It really feels like the game needed an option to buy a second repair machine or upgrade your workflow somehow. On top of that, shop progression feels pretty lacking. There aren’t any meaningful upgrades, and there’s very little in terms of decoration, which makes the whole shop feel static and underwhelming. There are also quite a few minor bugs. Nothing game-breaking or soft-locking in my experience, but a lot of UI-related issues. And speaking of the interface, it’s kind of all over the place and not always intuitive. There’s also a noticeable lack of audio feedback, which makes interactions feel a bit flat. You can buy a house, which sounds cool at first, but it ends up being another feature that doesn’t really do anything. It just feels like wasted potential. I also found the onboarding a bit confusing. For example, I had no idea at first where I was supposed to craft an item; some additional hints or guidance would have helped a lot. I didn’t even try the casino, so can’t speak to that. Finally, once you get going, the economy kind of breaks itself. You start making so much money that it’s actually better to refuse most items customers bring in because they’re not worth the repair time or material cost. The optimal strategy ends up being just buying “Awesome” items and reselling them at a markup, which isn’t very fun. Overall, there’s a solid concept here, but too many systems feel unfinished or poorly balanced. With more depth and polish mechanics, this could have been a great game, but right now it just feels like a missed opportunity.
This game has the typical low budget-Unity-feel to it. Also, the FOV will make you wanna throw up. Avoid this.
Pawn Planet is a frustrating and repetitive game that quickly becomes boring due to its lack of meaningful progression.
I wish I could give a neutral rating, but since that's obviously not an option I have to lean towards "negative for now." The game is addictive but extremely buggy. You're lucky to go three in-game days without a bug. A lot of these bugs require you to exit to the menu and return to fix them, which in one case for me resulted in a completely different bug. Some of the bugs I've seen so far: - Inventory/storage sometimes not displaying/updating correctly when transferring items. - "Ghost" items that are invisible in your inventory, on the shelf, or sometimes both. - Storage items sometimes becoming uninteractable. - Customers at the counter sometimes being uninteractable. - Arriving at a storage sale planet just to immediately be told the auctions are over. - Exiting to the menu after a bug the day after an auction, only to for all the items from the auction to be gone and the item I was repairing to revert to the one from the day prior - but that day still having passed normally and no auction available. There's very little guidance with the quest progression, and I often had to look to the forums to figure out how I was meant to do something. The game itself is charming, colorful, and the item and alien designs are fun. The gameplay loop is extremely addictive, to the point I was willing to put up with all of the above. I've genuinely enjoyed the game and it has a lot of potential, but the constant battle against bugs makes it difficult to recommend. Just because I can tolerate the jank doesn't mean anyone else should be paying for a game can barely keep it together. I really hope it gets some bug fixes and a little more polish, because again, this has to potential to really shine. But I'd strongly suggest waiting until that happens.
Buggy freaking mess, it was better when it was in test phase, wtf man ? customers get stuck forever ,and forces me to reload, bills don't pay so you get game over, items go missing from inventory, and the repair, one item at a time and have to wait a whole day? c'mon man let us buy more repair machines or something.... please fix the game it was really fun now its a mess ill change the review if you fix this mess, oh and let us save game files man and make backups
This game has a lot of potential and I think if the developers work out the bugs- it'll be a lot of fun. As it is now, though, I cannot recommend it. There are some game breaking bugs that make it pretty tough to enjoy the game. Mostly, inventory disappearing or being deleted all together and materials stuck floating. The crafting system also is either broken or just.. very not worth it. A quest says to craft an item but the materials required are very very expensive and every time I have personally tried, it fails. For something so expensive, there shouldn't be such a high chance of failure. Otherwise, it's fun for a short while though it quickly becomes repetitive. The only things to really do are buy/sell items and visit storage units to bid on them. Repairing items is fun but you can only repair one item per day and I don't see any way to upgrade that.
Its extremely glitchy, crafting materials dissapear into thin air when you put then and take them out of the storage, items also glitch out of your inventory, tried to work around it by leaving the game and it took all of the items out of my inventory and they became just non-existent. It's an addictive game and if the bugs got fixed then I'd totally reccomend it but as of now, no.
Sad that the game was abandoned. There's some major glitches that hinder the game. I was really enjoying it until items would disappear and I would lose MASSIVE amounts of potential money.
great idea, huge potential but lacks A LOT of contents and features. would've given a negative review, but i love the idea and the potential
