About
Between Horizons is set aboard the Zephyr, humanity's first generation ship en route to another star. You assume the role of Chief of Security Stella, who was born on the ship 24 years ago. Dive into the conspiracy behind the incident that threatens to disrupt the Zephyr's social order and foil its mission.
Between Horizons is a modern 2.5D pixel art adventure that brings a branching narrative into a semi-open world. The team at DigiTales has applied numerous lessons from their first game Lacuna and proven solutions to detective game design problems to maximize player agency in the investigation process – all the while maintaining the tight pacing of a meaningful story that will ask you to reevaluate your moral compass and make increasingly tough decisions as the situation aboard the ship spirals out of control.

An Unusual Adventure: Between Horizons merges investigation gameplay with a branching sci-fi story in an ever-expanding Metroidvania-style environment.
Think For Yourself: The flexible evidence system lets you assign clues to cases, confront people about them, and solve any case with at any point in time. Everything you find on the ship may or may not be connected to the mystery at hand.
Failure is Very Much an Option: There are no second chances — submitting an incorrect solution means that consequences may follow as the story branches and ends based on your decisions.
Set Your Course: Underneath the game's exciting and plausible sci-fi plot lies a number of thought-provoking problems inviting you to weigh intergenerational responsibility against personal freedom.
A New Dimension: Timeless pixel art merges with 3D environments and modern visual effects to create a unique art style. Prefer old-school 2D? No problem, you can switch any time!

Started well, and not a terrible game, but ultimately unsatisfying and felt like a missed opportunity. The story felt underwhelming and while its themes are interesting, those weren't really explored, but instead were just used as a backdrop for the mysteries/cases to be solved. In the end they made it feel like most of the characters were very self-serving, wanting to get their own way, but in the bigger picture such control over one's life is just an illusion, so it didn't really hit home. The map is annoying, with lots of backtracking and returning to areas, with a terrible fast travel system that is barely worth using. For me this lack of respect for a players time was probably the biggest negative and made it a chore to play. The mysteries/cases were either too obvious, or somewhat obtuse, where the provided evidence didn't always make sense motive wise. Its not about finding evidence to lead to the culprit, but accusations based on the balance of probability. That can work in some games, but here it just felt incomplete and more like a checklist.
A fun little game for what it is. Not actually a point and click game despite having the tag. Instead it is a logic and deduction game where you solve cases by collecting clues and then through the process of elimination figure out the answer. There is no hunting for items and then figuring out how they work in puzzles. The game is so simple it can be easily played with a controller.
Positives
+ The 2.5D graphics are nice and bring depth to the game. + Most of the puzzles aren't too hard and all can be figured out with deduction and logic. Except the server puzzle, no idea how you're supposed to do that one. + You can make different choices which affect the ending. + I found the story interesting including the moral dilemmas.
Neutral
+- The new 2D graphics are terrible, but thankfully optional. And when I say 2D I mean 2D, as in the perspective is flat. It's ugly and removes all depth. +- Not a fan of being unable to have multiple saves, but the game isn't hard and there are no deadends. +- While you do have choices, they don't make much of a difference except for the ending. The story progresses unimpeded even if you solve the cases wrong. But you do miss out on a certain confrontation if you get a specific puzzle wrong.
Negatives
- The camera instantly jerks in whatever direction you start moving. Very disconcerting, but you do get used to it. - At $16 it's way too expensive for what you get, which is about 6 hours for a first playthrough if you're very thorough and read everything. Wait for a good sale like I did.
This game had a lot of elements I enjoy. It's a story driven detective game, that feels rewarding to solve cases. For less than $10 I'd say this game is worth checking out. It's not without it's flaws though!! As a story driven detective game... You really don't care about the story. I mean you kinda do, but you don't get to know the other characters enough for any revelations to pack a punch. I wish the game let you play a "normal" day or week leading up to the events, just so you got a feel for the vibe of the ship. Speaking of ship. Oh wow is navigating it awful. It is not intuitive. It is not intuitive on where to go or who to talk to a lot of the times. I almost quit because the navigation was AWFUL. But I did push through and I eventually got used to it. Just know it's a bit of a learning curve.
I've expected some classic point&click old-school adventure. Instead I've played absolutely brilliant detective adventure with unique clue mechanics and excellent stories. Pros: - entertaining and complex stories - detective puzzles where you need to think (even use pen&paper) - brilliant idea to store information instead of items into "inventory" - beautiful graphics and music - smooth steam deck controls integration Cons (these are just cosmetic nit picks): - orange text on highlighted blue background is hard to read - voiced text have no background and are also hard to read sometimes - a lot of loading screens, like when entering almost every room, luckily short ones Could be a bit more polished but I love it: 9/10 PS: be prepared for tons of text to read, It's almost like a book with graphics ;-)
Interesting gameplay, fine art style, nice music and quite original story. Good game overall, although it could be better if made more "interactive". A lot of times people doesn't respond to the clues/evidence(they have the same response to most things). Also the game could be a bit longer and there should be more different endings.
Go play Lacuna instead. That one had a superb music and visual style. Story is good in both games. Here mix of 3d and 2d looks lazy after Lacuna. And what is up with load times between screens that has less data than games on NES, and it has to load for seconds on a system that has 16Gb? I'm leaving Yes in "Do you recommend this game" only for people to find Lacuna after this one. I hope next game won't have 200 clues in a list to scroll every time you need to talk second time to someone.
Great little game. A definite recommendation for point & click/detective game enthusiasts. I wonder why it isn't more popular among the niche point & click fan community. I'm a sucker for the generational colony ship premise and I found this interpretation well implemented. The puzzles are mostly satisfying and non-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, so you should be able to get through the game without frustration or the need to look up guides. Especially the door-access-time-puzzle (you'll know it when you reach it) was fun and I will definitely steal this for one of my pen and paper games. I can only advice against taking long breaks between game sessions. There is a evidence info system that works well enough, but the short game length rewards finishing the story within only a few sessions. The game's brevity is not a downside btw. It is (compared to similar titles) relatively unbloated and free of unnecessary filler content.
制作还不错,喜欢破案过程,不过女主好像没什么成长
