7/10 1.7% of people who play this game have gotten 10 holes in one. that should tell you how hard this game is - cant play with only mouse - could be a bit less janky on the physics + ohhh you can upgrade yourself when you level up. yeah this game starts HARD - flag stays in hole until in putting range and your ball will bounce off it - lots of teleports, all look the same color on the green + only when using minimap can see what teleport goes where, took me a decent amount of time before i figured that one out + 4 wacky upgrades you can unlock dead drop ball right down boost ball you can control ball for short time stop mid hit and change direction with same amount of force - sad upgrade tells you how wind will effect ball hit 4 types of balls + goes thought obstacles - does not bounce + bounces towards pin - extra bouncy that really isnt that bouncy at all + 10$
While curmudgeonly me didn't love this quite as much as my peer group, I definitely had some fun and came to appreciate what it does well. Appearing like a top-down arcade golfer from the late 20th century, this is not for golf purists and yet has some extremely clever features and attention to golfing details. I was most impressed by the devs implementation of height based hazards on a seemingly 2D plane which means you can never be 100% that your shot will go the way you wanted it to, and the proc-gen nature of the courses is elegantly and skilfully implemented, I never once came across a hole that didn't suit the feel of the game and also the (kinda) rules of golf. But of course, this is no stuffy, Royal & Ancient approved plus-four wearing golf game. Each course is crammed with vengeful animals and Wil-E-Coyote traps whose sole aim is to ruin your score, while to counter these you have a selection of wacky ball perks and tricks, ultimately making this game as much of a puzzle game as a sports one. The games structured like a puzzle game too with challenges gating your ability to enter tournaments, XP and points to earn for longer range and the aforementioned perks and while I found all this a bit mobile-gamey I can see how it makes for a mainstream fun time for regular gamers. It's not perfect, some of the misreads can become quite frustrating as they feel like the game's fault not yours, and tournaments can be completely wrecked by encountering one particular hole that rubs you up the wrong way. It's particularly frustrating that when you do find the water or lose a ball you always have to retake the same shot from where it was. But like I said, I did have a lot of fun once I got over my initial snottiness, even though when sharing a G&T in the clubhouse after a brisk 18 I would never say so to my fellow golfists

ENG: I haven't played it that much yet, but it's already making its way into my top 3 golf games. The gameplay is the classic power bar, and when it comes back, it's the accuracy of the shot, although, as we play, we can buy abilities such as making a ball change its trajectory and bounce directly into the hole, which takes it away from the simulation type and makes it more arcade-ish. Visually, it's very pleasing, with a particularly clean top-down view, four biomes, and procedurally generated maps. It doesn't have many game modes, and it's especially a shame that it doesn't have multiplayer, either local or online. However, it does have a daily challenge mode with rankings, which, once you've finished the content, is a reason to play it a little bit every day. It had been on my wish list for a long time. I should have bought it sooner.
Fun golf game! Perfect for the Steam Deck.
Played On Steam Deck
I used to love playing Mario Golf on Game Boy Color and have been looking for something similar for quite some time. Golfinite from Pmurph Games definitely scratches that itch and gives a great golf-RPG experience. There is a fun leveling system reminiscent of the Mario Golf leveling (as distance increases all other attributes go down) and the courses are pretty, but were not a challenge for me. Even with the silly gimmicks on the course, the tournaments felt easy to me. I thought the golf tech was a very cool aspect of the game and definitely added some strategy to some of the shots. Some feedback to the dev, the game overall feels more arcadey than I’d like and is too easy. Maybe the next version should have some elevation aspects throughout the course, not just the green. I wish there was more content! I beat all 4 tournaments in under 6h without rushing. I am excited to 100% this game so I’ll be playing awhile longer to get 10 hole-in-ones. Update: took me ~8h to complete 10 Hole-In-Ones, but still was 200+ strokes short of 1000 so in a single practice hole I took 234 shots and then forfeited to get the last achievement. Definitely a recommended game for Mario Golf fans. Rating 8.5/10 My setup: Steam Deck: Dock Mode Uperfect 2K 120hz monitor PS4 controller
Always wanted an RPG like Mario Golf game and this gives it to you at a most fundamental level. Sometimes the obstacles are obscene but there's gear that goes on cooldown that can really mitigate a lot of it. Enjoy playing a game where I just have a completely uncontrollable golfer who hits 300 yard drives while everyone else is stuck at 200 with much more balanced stats. Buy this game if you enjoy Mario Golf RPGs where you level up stats and are fine with a much more stripped down version but with very helpful/cheaty abilities to control the ball.
So I'll admit I'm only here because of the Humble Bundle, I'm not usually much into golf games, but this had a fantastic 16-bit look to it and plays so, so well I can highly recommend it. Feels a bit like a SNES or an Amiga game with some modern QOL upgrades and a little bit of craziness thrown in (warp gates, challenges where you have to hit through gates on the way to the hole etc). Played on Steam Deck and it works brilliantly on the controller, or is playable with keyboard and mouse. If I've got any criticism it's perhaps a little too easy, ie it's too easy to hit a perfect stroke and so once you've worked out how you want to play a hole you can pretty much birdie it every time with a bit of practice. I'd like to see more courses too or harder tournaments, but for what's here out of the box this is a really, really fun game well worth the Bundle cost alone and decent value at its full price if you're coming in after that wraps up. Deserves to be much better known and I'm off to see what else the developers have worked on.
felt tedious. meh
I tried this game during it's demo period a while back before it released in 2023. At the time it looked like a charming, minimalistic golf game. Expectations wound up being kinda ruined when the game came out and I got to play it for real. Simply put, it just didn't sit right with me. It just doesn't scratch that itch that I was expecting, plus the fact that the game was harder than it was advertised, making it more of a slog. Add in the fact that you can't really upgrade your stats without other aspects of your game getting worse... for some reason... and you have yourself a game that is basically begging you to suffer. What a shame.
