About
A brutal FPS. One girl. One gun. One recording.
They broke into her life.
They filmed her. They destroyed her.
Now she's back - and she's filming them.
Better Than Dead is a brutal first-person shooter set in the depths of photorealistic Hong Kong.
You play as a survivor who’s done running. She’s got a pistol, a bodycam, and a kill list.
Every level is a raid. And every raid has a rhythm.
You'll die. You'll learn. You'll come back faster - until every run feels like the revenge scene it was meant to be.
Bodycam revenge shooter – Film every step. Every shot. Every death. No mercy.
Learn, adapt, dominate - Each room has a rhythm. Die, read the layout, and come back harder. Every run is faster than the last.
Photorealistic Hong Kong – Fight your way through iconic action-movie settings: neon-lit restaurants, seedy nightclubs, back alleys, rooftop dens.
Raw, aggressive gunplay - Slide into bullet time. Move fast. Hit harder.
Cinematic action style – Inspired by classic Hong Kong action films from the ’80s and ’90s.

This game is freaking awesome, this is like a combination of Kane & Lynch + Hotline miami and bodycam footage, the gameplay might not be fun for some people, the style is really fun and you can do some amazing cinematic shots with the slide. i really recommend this, if the developer see this, please add more guns or pistols to the player, i would love to play with a Glock or Desert eagle, maybe silencers in the future, this game has huge potential.
Initally got the game and made it 20 minutes before regretting it. Then the 2.0 update came out and ended up playing through the whole game. It's unique - espeically in a time where games often do too much. Short, simple, fun. Looking forward to see what gets added. Big props on the team for trying something new. Made me feel like i was in 2000s action movie.

Very cool story. Very cool idea. The aiming in this game makes me want to never touch a PC again.
looks really cool, aiming has to much sway and is pretty dogwater, if you want a target kill level based game try: "Brush Burial: Gutter World" and if you want better aiming and fun gunplay try "PIGFACE"
Better Than Dead is just bad
Better Than Dead is a bodycam singleplayer game that needs some serious work, understandably it is currently in early access so bugs and such are to be expected, however, if you set aside all of the bugs that the game has, it is still not good in it's current state. My understanding from the gameplay I had witnessed is that the game is trying to explain a story of human trafficking and while the sole idea of that is not bad, the game doesn't really explain to you what is going on, you just have to take a look around and see what is going on, but even with that there's not much to see honestly.
Gameplay
The gameplay is just horrid, this just looks how I imagine a poor knockoff of bodycam to look like and play. Each level in this game takes 2 minutes to beat and on each one you can expect 7 to 9 enemies that you have to kill with a few innocent civilians scattered around that you're supposed to keep alive. It would be fine if this would be like a short story game and if it's trying to imitate that then it's not doing a good job. The movement is extremely clunky and so is the camera because it just jumps around like crazy with no control over it, you get a pistol that just has infinite ammo so the whole wandering around the map is only for the visuals, you don't need to worry that you run out of bullets or search for them, you just have infinite no matter what.
Visuals & Bugs
Visuals of Better Than Dead is just an eyesore, while the trailer and the images of this game look stunning, if you actually turn the game on and turn off all the DLSS shaders, it looks like one giant asset flip. Also the eyesore is mostly from the unbearable motion blur because the game is just so aggressive with it, you can't see your screen when you slightly turn around. Which just makes you question if that is the reason behind it being 15$ when Bodycam is 33$. The whole game just looks unpolished, all the NPCs in this game have giant mosaic effects on their faces to cover the fact that they have no model for the face. At certain angles the effect breaks and you can see the most basic face on those NPC models. Also since I am already speaking about the NPCs, they are just so retarded. The enemies always spawn in the same places no matter what, they will always appear in the same exact spots every single time you replay it, they are also constantly standing still. 98% of them remain stationary and wait for you to peek out around the corner so they can actually fight. They also tend to know exactly where you are at all times, on random parts of the maps when you walk up to a wall or a door they just start yelling at you and shooting in your direction. The innocent civilians AI I'd say is even dumber although just on the same line of retardation, they either just stand completely still while there's a whole gunfire happening, or they will deliberately walk in front of your gun and get themselves killed. They will even run in front of you when you try to get past them completely blocking the view and acting as a human shield, but they aren't a human shield due to the bullets of the enemies being able to just pass through everything. The enemies for some reason have a ton of hp and the hitboxes are horrid, I shot one of the NPCs in the head and they didn't die because the hit didn't register, or, another time, I dumped my whole mag into one of the enemies, they drop down to the ground, I ditch quickly behind a wall to reload, I peek out and the same guy whom I just put down is already dumping his mag into me because he is suddenly alive as if nothing happened. The animations are so basic in this game and lifeless it breaks the illusion of this being a realistic game even more, as if everything I had written to this point already hadn't broken it. The NPCs seem to be all copy pasted on every map and because this is made in Unreal Engine 5, the UI looks like complete garbage and the game is unoptimized. The UI is just basic calibri text and that's it, like how every other Unreal Engine 5 game is. I actually have no idea what people are recommending in this because this is unplayable in it's current state.
My opinion
I don't think this game will improve much when it leaves early access. Everything is unpolished and clunky, hit registration is horrid, everything looks like an asset flip covered up with a filter, the NPCs got lobotomized or have wallhacks since they start dumping their mags through walls, The animations often break, the camera breaks too, there's no story the game just throws you in and tells you to figure everything out on your own. I don't recommend it at all, just save your 15$ on something else.
Not fun. Cool visuals, but that's it. Gameplay feels like rephrased title of an old novel - "I Have No Control Over My Gun, and I Must Run-N-Gun". Brainrot-gen gonna love this game, all the ingridients are there: raw alpha state of a game, style over substance design approach with strong psychedelic visuals, barely playable with awful controls and weird difficulty spikes, forcing you to try over and over again. Basically, game to struggle, to overcome, and to love because it made you feel like you've accomplished something (and now you must share with the world how they misunderstood this hidden gem of a game). Not my cup of tea. Refunded.
The aiming is trash, the wounded system is especially trash because once you are wounded your aim for some reason (probably a bug) becomes basically useless, and you can't run or slide which are two of the most important mechanics in the game. This also means you are vulnerable as hell when you have to reload. Good concept very poor execution. Overall this is probably one of the most infuriating games I've ever played.
This game is one of the best shooters I have ever played! there are some things that could be ironed out such as bullet time and run speed, but this game is fairly new and those things are expected. I enjoyed every second of the last 2.5hrs on this game and will play more soon, I love this game! Stay Angry
this ♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trash, it looks cool but every single bit of its poorly done, the AIs ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, you get 8 rounds before you reload, and it can take a whole mag to kill, and you might say "just hit headshots", its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ impossible, you cant hit ♥♥♥♥ after your first shot, it doesnt help if you move, and the whole point of the damn game is moving and shooting.
extremely shallow. just bad mechanics, not enjoyable or fun. extremely poorly optimized. no idea what people are saying about tension and stakes. there are none.
