About

You return to your childhood home in Miskolc, Hungary after a letter from the bank gives you one week to clear out what’s left before the property is auctioned off.
It should be simple, sort through the dust, gather what matters, and leave the rest behind. But the moment you cross the threshold, something is wrong. Familiar rooms feel distant, details are off in ways you cannot quite name. The house is quiet, yet every corner feels as if it is watching you.
Your past is still here. And it has been waiting.
What begins as a practical chore slowly becomes a descent through fractured memory and fading reality. The deeper you go, the less you can trust your own senses. Layouts feel misplaced. Shadows fall where they should not. Hallways lead back to places that should not exist. The world around you shifts, subtly at first, then relentlessly, never loud but impossible to ignore.
This is not a ghost story. It is a story about grief, memory, and what happens when the person you are most afraid of is the one you have become.

• Psychological horror grounded in trauma
Experience a slow-burning breakdown of memory, guilt, and identity as you return to a place you thought you had left behind.
• Atmospheric stealth and exploration
You have no weapons. You rely on silence, awareness, and instinct. Survival depends on what you notice, where you hide, and how you move through spaces that no longer feel stable.
• Disorienting, shifting environments
Spaces feel familiar at first, then subtly wrong. Layouts change, paths close off, and reality thins at the edges without ever shouting for attention.
• Narrative-driven gameplay
The story unfolds through the environment itself. Notes, objects, sounds, and small details piece together a history that becomes harder and harder to look away from.
• Retro-modern visual style
A unique blend of early-2000s-inspired textures, analog distortion, and grounded environmental design builds a heavy, oppressive atmosphere that feels both nostalgic and deeply uncomfortable.

This game was actually pretty good, I didn't expect such effort given the AI warning. So here is my advice. Please replace all of the AI content and then remove the AI label from your steam page so your game doesn't have that blemish on it. You should also get some real voice actors. Good work otherwise.

Igazi old school hangulat!
Very nice game! Interesting mechanics and a "frustrating", in a good way, storyline.
It is a good game. I went into this expecting a fairly standard haunted-house walk, but it's really more of a psychological descent than a ghost story. You play someone returning to their childhood home in Miskolc, Hungary after the bank gives you a week to clear it out before auction, and what should be a simple job of packing up old belongings slowly turns into something much stranger as the house itself starts feeling wrong — rooms that don't match memory, hallways that loop back where they shouldn't, an unsettling sense that you can't fully trust what you're seeing. The pacing of that slow unraveling is genuinely well done, and the threat in the game does a nice job of feeling unpredictable without feeling cheap or unfair. That said, a couple things kept pulling me out of the experience. The stylized visual approach is moody by design, but for me it tips too far — large stretches of the game feel like you're peering through a thick fog, and the darkness isn't so much atmospheric as it is genuinely hard to navigate by. I wanted to soak in the environmental details since so much of the story is told through them, but I often couldn't make things out clearly. Honestly, I think this game would look absolutely epic if it were built in Unreal Engine 5 instead of going the stylized route — the bones of the design (the house, the shifting layouts, the atmosphere) feel like they'd really shine with that level of realistic lighting and detail instead of being buried under the current fog and grain. The other issue is the inventory UI sitting permanently on screen — it's constantly there pulling focus, when a horror game like this really benefits from an uncluttered view so the environment can do the unsettling work on its own. Still, if you're into slow-burn psychological horror with a strong narrative hook, there's a lot to like here — I just wish the presentation got out of its own way a bit more.
As the developers' first game, Beneath the Quiet: Where It Ends has turned out to be a fantastic psychological horror game! I'm looking forward for their next game!
