Most of the time i didn't know where to be and once you encounter a ghost its not scary anymore and honestly kinda boring
A game by Chilla's Art with actual combat and stalker enemies. It's a Fatal Frame tribute which is a cool idea, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, the stalker ghosts ruin the entire experience. They cannot be damaged or even slowed down, but can be easily avoided by running into rooms. They aren't very threatening or scary, and artificially extend a playthrough as they spawn at the most inconvenient times. Also don't get me started on the limited inventory and being forced to drop items on the floor like in Resident Evil 0 which causes you to run to and fro juggling them like a circus clown. A fumble in my opinion.
Dissapointing game from this artist the monsters are not scary and they are sily, most of them are easy to avoid once you realise what you have to do ( the game dosent give you info about how to play the game so you have to figure it out yourshelf),finding items is hella boring bcs you dont know where to use them and you have to do the cycle of the map multiple times and the problem is that everything looks the same so its hard to find the room you are searching. Not scary, not creepy, generic story, bad monsters and i think you cant do the ending if you die while having a certain item and you have to go back to your save unless you realised afterwards that this item is needed for the ending and you have saved the game while having this item used so you have to start all over again. Not reccomended i expected better from this artist hope he makes more games like aka manto and yuki ohna and put more effort to creepy atmosphere and scarier monsters
I'm always a fan of Chilla's work, very surprised to see a type of Fatal Frame inspired game! Was it stressful? Yes. Did I spend a minimum of an hour looking for one thing? Also yes. Did I actually beat it? Damn right. Absolutely worth the $5.00 https://youtu.be/Mk5ecCzSXBo?si=4QeX3CHzVLLar-ls
I'm not sure why this game has so many bad reviews. I love both types of CA games. The ones with an actual threat and those where you just walk and perform some tasks in a scary atmosphere. This one even had a little bit of fighting which made it different from their other games and was quite refreshing. This game here was huge fun and also more on the challenging side regarding limited item space. The savegame system made it fair and doable though. It was kinda an improved version of Yuki Onna without the annoying perma death. I HATE perma death games in general because not everybody has the time to play for long runs. So the savegame system in Onryo was amazing. It had a few bugs though. The 'defeat ten daughters' achievement never fired for me despite of me definitely defeating plenty of them. Achievement bugs occured in CA's older games but usually reinstalling and trying again would fix it. I liked the game enough to get the other ending so yeah, it was nice.
I really wanted to like this game, but it was frustrating and I couldn't finish it due to a game breaking bug.. I liked exploring the house, but using the camera Fatal Frame-style against the ghosts in the rooms was a frustrating mechanic in this particular game. It was very tedious dealing with them & the invincible ghosts that chase you in the halls were more annoying than scary. The game is quite buggy too - the ghosts that chase you would get stuck in the doorway sometimes & there were several times I was forced to restart because of the bugs (good thing there is a save function). I also wasn't a fan of the limited inventory & being forced to drop items and backtrack to them, but that is honestly the least of my criticisms. It was the bug that prevented me from defeating the Onryo, & therefore prevented me from finishing the game after spending so much time playing it, that was the final straw & made me stop playing.
This game is an ultimate experience on how every Gachapon collector must feel
Definitely not the worse Chilla's Art game and not too bad for their earliest stuff, but I cannot recommend it as it is more frustrating than fun and the stalking ghosts aren't scary, they're just annoying in most cases. Also, you're thrown to the wolves pretty quickly, which isn't the worst thing, but it is immediately disorienting as you have no idea what to do. Frankly, it lacks balance in that regard. This could be fine tuned into something much better, but I know the Chilla's brothers like to move on from game-to-game quite rapidly, which is why there are more than two dozen games in their oeuvre in just a handful of years.
Yeah I still don't know how to finish this game. But I recommend buying this game
