Look, if you got tech issues with this game despite meeting or exceeding system requirements, fair enough, rate the game negatively. But if you don't, and you genuinely think this game is a 6/10 or less, while simultaneously thinking Black Myth Wukong was a 9 or 10, your brain needs to be studied. It does what any other souls-like does and I'd put it on the same level as Lies of P and Lords of the Fallen (the new one). Or to be even more accurate, if NieR Automata was a 10, this is easily an 8 gameplay wise. Not quite as crisp, but easily worth the asking price if you enjoyed that game. Things like lore and overall aesthetic appeal are highly subjective so you either vibe with it or don't. I think it's great so far with my 5 hours into the game.

STORY I really liked the characters and the relationship between them. I also really enjoyed the ending and the plot twist. SOUNDTRACK Good overall. It reminds me a lot of Stellar Blade, although it becomes repetitive after a while. COMBAT The best part of the game. The combat is fast and fluid, with a big focus on parrying. However, the enemies and bosses are very repetitive. I feel like the combat could have been taken much further with better enemy design and more variety. GRAPHICS The graphics are generally good, but there are some lighting issues, and at times the visuals can look washed-out and blurry, with some strange-looking colors. PERFORMANCE I didn't have any performance issues, but I have a very good PC, so I can't really judge the performance on lower-end hardware. CONCLUSION Overall, I really enjoyed the game and I hope we get a sequel, because the combat has a lot of potential. The price of the game is also fair.
Genuine lovely surprise. The game that will leave a journey in your heart. Its all about those little moments we strive for the best. Not everything will meet the eyes of expectation but touch will be delivered as promised. It will starts slowly by introducing world surrounding characters that will be your home. Some will land more than others. I would say there is quality in here but personally for me I wanted more from human emotions. Some of them felt like they were missing connection. World is wild and lush. Areas you will be exploring from post apocalyptic view looks very nice. Tons of greenery and industrial mixture gave that sense of lost feel. Koo is best boy and I couldn’t imagined this world without him. Not only he is special but also holds secrets to help you and charm you in every way possible. Interaction between Koo and Emma are hilarious in best humanly way. When it comes to the gameplay experience he gives that good grip with nice experience and improved combat. It all surrounds you main character and Koo duo. Surprised me the most I never expected to see is how good combat felt. If this is their firs game with this quality I can only imagine what they can do later. Deflection system feels very very good. It lands perfectly with that high rush of quality gameplay. Emmas abilities lets you to slow down time sometimes and you can unleash true hell with more devastating sword combos. Koo will help you with more build up materials when it comes to inflicting elementals that will do wonders. Between these combinations and your never lasting samurai swords (there are lot of them) you will be doing serious combos. Also wanted to address how developers made every animation with just amazing movement fluidity. The game also provides you with several difficulties so don’t shy away to try them all. There was a nice balance between normal and hard and I would say hard was not that bad. Another surprise was traversal hair root system that Emma can use. It felt right at home. So beautifully crafted and so well done. Exploring maps was joy. Even finding highest points on the map was easy as ever. Not only that but Emma could also grapple between the pin point system in a jiffy like Sekiro style and it felt so good. Not everything was needed to defeat on the map so it was very helpful to escape some long walks and just fly like a wind. I left bosses in last corner. Majority of them were great and even amazing but say it bluntly there were some problems with them. For me personally (not saying the game is bad) I started to get bored over second phase bosses very quickly. Not only that but there were repeating ones too and biggest issue for me were some huge bosses just “landed” on your screen with their body mass and it was frustrating to get see when I could deflect their hits or not. Wished developers did better job with them. Major points explained and I think this is well made game. Good story, beautiful protagonist and pupperino Koo just made game more beautiful. Lets hope developers can fix unskippable cutscenes and let you straight up into combat.
I'll preface this review by stating I haven't progressed past the initial area nor taken down the boss, however, I will happily state that that is my Wanderlust and want to see the world at play. TLDR: I'm pretty happy with the game, what I paid for it and the content I've played so far but I do believe the game could do with some polish here and there. For those that are worried about difficulty, there is Story, Normal and Hard, so there should be something for you. P.S. No I have not played Stellar Blade, Nier Automata or Black Myth Wukong so I won't be referencing them here. I have, however, played a bit of Sekiro, via the old Library share but never bought it for myself to finish. Getting into it, I understand why people are saying "It's like X game or a Y ripoff" but at this point it feels diminishing. That doesn't explain nor give a respective view into anything. The gameplay, sure enough, leans into the style of Sekiro, where you are charged with close quarters combat. Your best defence is to parry as it builds guage for your Dog companion, Koo, to use his powers to turn the tides of battle. You can dodge and get some nice sweeps in when timed perfectly. Both are viable ways to fight and each has their place. There's no i-frames to save you so you really have to think about where your opponents are and the way theyre intending to attack. You can't just mash the buttons and assume you'll win out the fight. You might be able to get away with doing that against weaker enemies but stronger variants will mop the floor with you quickly. You get sword combos for purging bosses which means your style of play will only get stronger with time. Not to mention, you have three trees for Emma and Koo to commit points to which have pretty defining play styles. Koo is a joy to have at your side. Following you up in combat, spotting out enemies (regular and elites), campfires, lockboxes and items/tools. He will also collect items at the end of combat. Additionally, you can ping out an enemy so Koo can attack first whether thats a straight take down or engagement is based on how you've spec'd him. During combat, using the resource you gather from parrying you can command Koo to use an attack, a la Final Fantasy 7 style with time slowing down for your consideration, followed by a QTE, a la Clair Obscur, that denotes your damage and whether or not, if you hit the sweetspot, Emma gets some health back. It's a very interesting addition and very much intruiging spice up to real time combat. A small annoyance I have is that if he decides he wants to grab me some loot of something that perished in fire, you best believe he'll sit in tick damage to get it, like buddy c'mon, you're on fire now! The combat in general is pretty as well as relatively well done but I do agree with some that there are times where it feels unpolished or clunky. Shooting with the bow is nice until I want to nock another arrow but I've done the input to fast so now I'm standing there with a golem barelling towards me like I owe him rent. Just to reiterate, with melee combat, you cannot button mash your way through, but sometimes I do feel like I miss my prompt for parrying or attacking after a parry though I am more than willing to chalk that up to me being bad and still learning the game or it maybe be a disconnect since its an attack I don't have just yet. The other downside is a repetition thing; starting with that the song that plays when you're traversing the first area. It is the only thing that plays outside of combat. I genuinely considered turning off the in game music but then I'd defintely miss out on the combat music or other songs. I would love to just have the sounds of the land/nature play too or have a sort of jukebox style thing perhaps. Similarly, you'd definitely benefit from giving Emma a few more varied voice lines when getting up from the campfire (post death for sure), even if it was the same line said different ways. All in all, I like what I've seen and played so far. I think the visuals are beautiful, the combat has me hooked despite some flaws. I look forward to playing more and seeing what updates Game Freak will being to the table.
