So, this game. I actually bought it on launch, played through the first mission, wasn't impressed by it and then didn't touch it again for almost 6 years. If that's not a sign of this game's quality then idk what is. Despite of what you might think this game was not developed by Rare or any other internal team at Microsoft. It was outsourced to a small team called Dlala Studios that has never worked on a beat em up or a 2d platformer before or since. This is why the game doesn't feel like Battletoads both graphically and gameplay wise. The gameplay is a beat em up during the first half of the game and the final boss with the rest of the game switching through various other modes like shoot em up segments and pure 2d platformer with no enemies to fight. Sure, the older Battletoad games also had what's known as the genre-bending stages where you'd do similar stuff to this but those did not take the main stage. It's obvious the team didn't have the mannpower or time to optimise all these different modes which means they are either not very fun to go thorugh or are completey awful, in the case of the hacking minigames. Though, the actual beat em up segments of this game aren't much better, they're exactly what you expect and they aren't gonna hold your interest for very long. The graphics were the most overstated thing about this game, I vividly remember when this game was first shown off everyone and their mother hated them, especially the new redesign of the Dark Queen who looks like she rolled right out of Dexter's Lab instead of the hot dominatrix she was in the 90s. The worst thing about this is that this was basically a rug pull. You see this game has been rumored about since almost 2013 with Rash even making a cameo in Killer Instict sporting a new realistic redesign, which was so popular it was even used again in the movie Ready Player One where the toads made a cameo. Everyone thought that if a new Battletoads game was to happen it would be in that more realistic artstyle but instead what we got was a game with a generic Saturday morning cartoon artsyle that looks incredibly cheap and doesn't resemble anything Battletoads related. This is the final game Xbox released that's part of the Rareware franchises with no indication of a new game coming out any time soon and considering the state this game released in I don't think a new game by Rare is on anyone's priority list. Truly a shame especially considering 2d beat em ups are in a bit of a resurgence right now with some bangers coming out like Streets of Rage 4, TMNT Shredder's Revenge and even that Mighty Morphing Power Rangers game which also includes genre-bending stages that are actually fun. Alas, it was never meant to be for the Toads I guess

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 23: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I've never played the original so I don't have anything to compare it to but this is a fun arcade beat 'em up with a touch of late 80's, early 90's comedy and animation. Fun game with some pretty challenging areas which can get pretty aggravating.
Very fine game. Humor is present.. not good not bad just there. Combat is okay can become a bit overwhelming with ranged knockback that has limited warning and aoe attacks that electrify large sections of floor but when it isnt being mildly annoying it can be quite fun. If you get the game for super cheap or free its probably worth killing a few hours. Otherwise dont waste your money. After finishing: Space sections are actually really fun, the sledding sections are actually really bad. There is more space than sled though so at least thats going for the game.

It was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I just played 8 minutes and I am already asking for a refund!
played few arcade styled games, this one makes me want to exit game after a single stage, I feel like I am doing way too much and have hard time with visuals. I get some like a challenge but this is not what I look towards in an arcade, I want something easy co-op that keeps group going as opposed to each of us wanting to switch games.
The game brings back memories from the good ol' couch gaming. On the hardest difficulty it is an extreme challenge, especially in coop. Great challenges, game modes, good laughs.
