Apparently some old school rogue like game with visuals when the flash games were the thing. Not very exciting unless you're into bland RPG games with slow progression system, bad AI and a lot of grinding. Sounds are ok though...
No longer working on windows 11. doesn't start。
I bought this game for 49 cents nearly 9 years ago, and I'm finally here to leave my review. My first time picking this up, I didn't get past the first world but I did have some fun as I learned the game mechanics. It has a classic "Flash in the browser game" feel to it. So, when I had first checked it out -- I really liked the song that plays when you are in the village, it kind of reminds me of the Diablo 2 soundtrack song "Rogue", but I actually like this version better, I like it every time it comes on. In fact, it's what brought me back to the game 8 years after I dropped it - as I just had the itch to hear it again. So in my recent playthrough, I decided to give it another shot and feel it out, and I had a surprisingly fun time. I like that it's turn-based, and very easy to drop and get back in. It appeals to a busy parent to play it, keep it open in a window to walk away and come back later. Each world has relatively simple, straight forward quests -- there is no complex web of subtasks that need to be completed, it's very straight forward - usually consisting of clearing a small area or defeating a boss at a certain location. One review I glanced over said this game contained "procedural generation" - which it does NOT have. The world / map is clearly set and hand-crafted. There are some special areas to find, whether it's a chest tucked away or a hidden cave. The world is quite bite sized and easy to walk and navigate - only a few times did I get confused or frustrated and had to backtrack in dungeons, but you can also learn the layout and it's not a lot of walking to get to places. I actually really appreciate the devs intent to not carry out the game for longer than it needed to -- someone might stumble onto this and see "simple, boring", but the fact that quests and bosses and actually relatively easy to get to and don't require multitudes of traps and puzzles. In this game, there is a locked door mechanic, but you basically just flip the switch elsewhere in the level which opens the locked door. With the levels not being too large, it doesn't take long to navigate. The experience / progression is interesting - one thing I learned is that you are almost always better off going to the next level rather than grinding in the current area / level. I like to try to be over-powered when I fight bosses, but learning what/where to fight for experience is important. For example, in the first world, the strongest boss gives 3000 experience points, which is 10x more than the normal hardest dudes you fight, and the early riff raff only giving 5-30 XP. So it makes a big difference where/who you fight. Once you make it to the later worlds (in particular chaos realm, the 3rd / last world), 3000 XP from an enemy kill is standard. Anyway, it was a fun jaunt. If you can get over the 'simpler' mechanics and appreciate that it was still designed with intention and thought, then you can have a decently fun time here.
Battlepaths is fun to a point then it's just meh
Thought it was strategy turned out it’s chess with swords and medieval rap battles. My soldiers just asked for a raise and a nap.
