A mechanically competent World War II shooter that forever lives in the shadow of its vastly superior predecessor. Following up on a generational triumph like Battlefield 1 was always going to be an uphill battle, but Battlefield™ V fundamentally missed the mark when it came to capturing authentic WWII scale and grit. The dark, horrific, trench-pocked atmosphere that made BF1 an instant classic was replaced by a strangely sanitized, overly colorful aesthetic and a confused marketing direction. While the "War Stories" single-player campaign attempts to tell lesser-known tales of the war—such as the Norwegian resistance or a German tank crew in The Last Tiger—the narrative impact feels remarkably muted and less emotionally resonant than the previous game's tragic anthology. Where the game actually redeems itself is in its core gunplay and movement mechanics. DICE stripped away the random bullet deviation of BF1, introducing predictable recoil patterns and a punchy, skill-based shooting model where your bullets actually land where your crosshairs are pointing. The movement system is arguably the crispest in the entire series, allowing you to crouch-sprint, slide into cover, roll out of high falls, and fire from a prone position while lying on your back. The addition of the Fortifications mechanic—allowing soldiers to build sandbag walls, dig trenches, and set up barbed wire on objectives—adds a brilliant layer of dynamic tactical defense that rewards smart squad play. Unfortunately, the game was severely hamstrung by a turbulent live-service lifecycle. Its attempt at a Battle Royale mode (Firestorm) was essentially dead on arrival, and live updates were abruptly cut short just as the game was finally hitting its stride with the stellar Pacific Theater expansion. Jumping in today leaves you with a mixed bag: the infantry combat feels great and the Pacific maps are genuine highlights, but rampant unmoderated cheaters on official servers and a distinct lack of historical atmospheric weight leave it feeling like an "okay" shooter rather than an iconic one. It is a decent game to pick up on a deep sale, but it never manages to shake off the title of a downgrade. 7/10 — The gunplay and movement mechanics are surprisingly phenomenal, but it completely lacks the jaw-dropping cinematic soul and terrifying grit of Battlefield 1. A decent shooter that just couldn't live up to the hype.
I like the flow of the game. I hope there will be updates to remove the cheats and mods. It crashes from time to time and I don't know how to fix it. In general, I can recommend this game
